Dear friends: Trying to promote new memberships for my fellowship, I´ve created this Prize tourney: The Chess Club (1. December 2013, 12:42:24) Please feel free to invite all your friends (they must require membership to enter) Regards, tenuki.
Several of the games of BAH HUMBUG!! #2 started tonight. There are 2 more days to sign up for the ones that didn't have enough, though. There are a couple that only need one more person. So, be that person to let it start!
I normally do these things just for the folks in the SPP fellowship but this time I've opened this up BK wide!
this Tourney does have a fischers clock since I want it to be over before The 8th Annual St Pats Tourney which will start in March but the time limits should be pretty doable.
5 day start time with 8 hour bonuses for each move with a max time accumulated of 10days. 5 player sections also btw!
I know someone wants this 6 month Rook prize so Good luck to everyone that signs up, and may the pente gods be on your side!

JerNYC: Which is more impressive, a player who manages to beat another player who won a lot of games, or a player who beats another player who could only manage to win a small number of games?
Anyway, that is the logic of S-B, for better or for worse. People who lose on tiebreaks tend to be unhappy about it, while people who win on tiebreaks seem happy enough....
JerNYC: The logic of the S-B system is as follows - Comparing your performance with that of Ugo, it's very similar. The difference is that Ugo managed to beat Carpe Diem (1944) twice, whereas you managed to beat Zurab (1737) twice. 1944>1737, therefore Ugo did better.
I agree that you did better considering your rating, but this wasn't a handicap tournament, so it doesn't get taken into account.
I am forced to finish in second place because of the S-B totals even though the first place winner is rated almost 300 points higher than me. I deserved to have a playoff with him for the tournament title. He and I split our two games so that alone should have been given credence. This feels wrong. I am definitely not a proponent of the S-B.

computeropponen: This board is for Tournaments, Team Tournaments and anything relating to them. Please take this discussion the relevant Discussion Board. You have been asked previously
when some one bought a computer program, what is he going to do? he want to test how strong the program will be, usually to challenge the stronger player.
Hrqls: playing against a computer, one error will cost you the whole game. it is not the same when you play vs human, especially against a weaker opponent who may make mistake or miss the good move later on you can come back to the game even when you play against an equal opponent, one error will put you in a very bad position you have to play very hard hoping to survive if you made a carelee quick move....
computeropponen: if you want anything to be done with your post, please post it on the chess board
there are many experienced chess players who read the chess board, and they might be able to analyze your game to determine if its likely to be a computer or not
btw 50% of my moves are careless and quick as well, but sometimes lucky enough to be not too bad :)
my user ID is computeropponent. i have said that no cheater @ this site only suspect. This time i found myself is playing against a true computer cheater(suspect). the computer move looks not thing special but it is deep. i underestimated my opponent rated just 18xx. he move very slowly i just made a careless quick move. re: my game vs xxxxxxxxxx chinese chess.
beach: well someone had a whole lot of time on their hands! A special filter to filter out unwanted tourney sponsors whould be nice. Also, a limit on how many tourneys one can start at one time. Also, zap all tourneys that don't meet the signup deadline.
Wish there was a way that could prevent people from posting 300 tournaments on the board they sit there for 30 days past the deadline then they add 300 tournaments posted by the same person I went to find other tournaments and cannot find anything because the tournament page is flooded by one person I find it frustrating sorry but I just had to vent here
(hide) If you click on a person's name and then click Finished games you will have a list of games that have been completed, then click on the name of the game to get a summary of all of these games, then click on the name of the game again and you will have a game to view and analyze.
