The tournaments.
There are two tournaments listed, both by a member of customer service, which are for 30 days each move. For Backgammon. at 30 moves per game, that is 4.93 years just to complete one game, and that doesnt include weekends and suspended game times. I know it is every individuals choice to play or not to play, but I think some people simply dont realize what they may be getting into. You will have to renew your membership 4 times just to get through the first round. Maybe there is a conspiracy by cusomer service to keep memberships up?

Just be forewarned that even a 3 day tournament with 30 moves for a game is going to last a half year, not including weekends and suspended times, just for the first round!
Even a 1 day tournament will take 8 weeks with weekends to finish one round....

IMO...There really needs to be a way to have a tournament setting for total time per round, or something.

Linda's donation for a server tournament will still be going long after all the money has been spent on 'miscellanious repairs' and most peoples membership has expired!

Ahhh.... OK, that is good. So right now, it would be 5/6 games per person (2 sections total)

OK, now I just got to hurry and wait until july 15th!

30. June 2004, 21:59:48
Fencer
With 11 teams, two sections would be created - 6 and 5 teams. It means 5 or 4 games per player [10 or 8 if it's two-game type].

OK, that makes some since.

So as of right now with 11 teams, each person will have 11 games. (1 game with 1 person from each team)

BBW: The first player of each signed team will play with all other first players, the second one with all other second ones etc. And win/draw points will be summarized as the final score of the team in each particular match.
Let me finish the "table view", it will be more understandable then :-)

OK, how will the site Team tournaments actually work?

So far there are 11 teams (55 players), and I was wondering how things would work.

Does each player play everyone from 1 other team? Play everyone from all the other teams? Or possible just 1 player from another team?

I guess I'm just wondering how it is going to work. (And how many games we should expect)

It appears that the tournaments started correctly and there's no problem with the new format.
New format looks like an improvement over the older one too! Cool. I'll see you at the games.

Cos I cant find link, or is it a "soon to come addition"?

If you are worried, then I personally suggest just changing the start date to about Wednesday or something like that, and then start it then - since a few extra days will not be too big of a deal.

NOTE TO ALL TOURNAMENT CREATORS: With BK2.0, tournaments will automaticly start according to the start time. (Tournament creator does not have to manually start it.) So just a warning! :-)

Hmmm, it copied it nine times! Perhaps my reticence in starting the tournaments is justified? I'll delete the eight extras in a bit.

Subject: data base update and tournament starts
I'm not to sure what to make of the bata base update announcement, but if simular to what went on earlier in month I'm kind of nervous about starting the two tournaments later today. If Fencer or someone in the know can alleviate my concerns, I'll go ahead and start them later today. Otherwise I was going to take the catious appraoch and wait until the change has been implimented and all is well, or that it's been undone and put back to how it is now with a message about what or when it'll happen again.
This seems like the right way to go, especially with Dark Chess, because the games are ruined in the event that the positions are revealed.

Just a little more than a day and half before the Second Quarter tournaments will be starting. Extinction Chess currently has 8 signed players. Dark Chess has 15. They run the gamut in ratings, so there'll be lots of variables for each player. Opens are opens, after all.
Avoid becoming extinct, or bring your flashlight to keep the darkness away. :)
