Subject: Slow Players holding up My tournaments
If anyone is interested, I just thought I would list a few notoriously SLOW players that are holding up a lot of people in some of my tournaments.
I will say though, I am not suggesting that they are breaking any rules, however, if people wish to finish their tournies in a timely and fun manner, do not allow these people to play.

Goonerg (Not too bad but slower than most)
PUPPETMASTER (8 moves in 40 days)
Eriisa (11 moves in 40 days)
Princess (4 moves in 40 days)
mysticdragon (8 moves in 40 days)

The delete option isn't all bad. Sometimes we say things in the heat of anger and immediately regret them (right -after- hitting send). An immediate delete in such cases can be a lifesaver. But, once a post has replies, deleting single posts and leaving replies to the thread is just ill-mannered, IMHO.

If the boards were somehow threaded, it might be easier for Fencer to implement something like that: Allow deletion by creator only up until a reply is made. Hrm...

I often talk to myself and your posts make perfect sense. ;)

I don't really like it either and will use the edit feature only. But until Fencer changes it, it must be ok. What other reason for it can there be?

Well I hate the delete option - now my post look like I'm talking to no one (So now I need to go edit my post to point out that they were in reply to Andersp's post that were deleted) :-(

there was nothing said that was wrong. Andersp actually brought up a good question. His question is completely on topic (unlike my post now) There was no need to delete anything but no big deal that he did either.

BTW, I wrote a poem on the whole thing and it's in Debate. Go there...it's a bit rough but you can work it. :)

And Bernice, get busy on that game. I think I'm catching on!! :)

I thought that things sounded a bit gobbledegook....why must people do that...why post and then delete...so childish :(

I think the delete opton should be taken away and just let the moderator delete what he wants :(

I think Bumble is going to tell us to move on. :) So, let's go to the debate club. And those that want to follow it, have to join! woo hoo we'll double the size of the group. :)

(UPDATE: This post is in reply to Andersp post about "everyone can afford to pay since they can afford a computer" post that was deleted by Andersp) -- BBW

Afford to pay vs. able to pay

Almost anyone who visits BK would be able to pay if they had to. BUT can they afford it is a totally different question. They could do without food, or insurance, or shoes, or gas to get to work - and would be ABLE to pay, but possible not actually be able to AFFORD it.

I really can't afford to extend my membership which is why I was waiting until the last minutes before I worried about it. (which until recently, i thought I only had a couple of days... now I found out I have about a month before I worry about it.) I really can't afford it, but since I do enjoy the site so much, I will probable be able to pay.

21. April 2004, 06:15:44
Lythande
Just because you can? Didn't say you couldn't, but that doesn't mean everyone can. The computer could have been donated, or could have been purchased in a time when finacial condition was sunnier. Or even.. *gasp* that pawn might play from a library!

Subject: But it's just a minor glitch
I've always understood it to be a pawn winner. That is the point of the tourney (ok, the real point is $ for BK, but the pawn thing is part of the big picture).

Linda: Sorry. I thought I'd seen it in the description. Must have been from one of your early posts somewhere. The point, of course, was that the membership going to pawns was pretty well advertised. :/

Anders like I said, I said repeatedly all over these boards about the pawns. Here's one example from March 30, any others and you scroll for yourself. :•)
Absolutely nothing has been changed or erased from this tournament. I resent the accusation.

The following is a copied post from this board.

Ask me if I'm tired of writing the above?

A little info on the tournament.
The tournament has started! 100 people are playing. 20 different sections which means 20 pawns will become members with a winner in each section. More if there's a tie.
Fencer was extremely generous there.
I have 99 people down as paid with 4 still having money on it's way for a total of 103 people paid.
No total yet on amount of money collected.

I think this tournament was a huge success. Thanks to everyone that entered or donated to this event.
This ones for you. ((((((hugs))))))
Lot's "O" Luck in the tournament everyone. Have fun. ;•)

Support Tournament Information

I don't think it was ever mentioned that 6 months membership (was only for pawns) in the actually tournament description (putting every single detail in there would make that very long), but it was mentioned in post - plus the announcment on brainking.info (link above)

But then again, if you are a paid member, you could just say "OK, Give me some time to figure out who to give my membership to that I won" - then wait for your own membership to expire, then say "Hey, remember that membership I won, apply that to my now pawn account. Thanks!"

... There are always loopholes! :-)

21. April 2004, 05:41:40
Lythande
The "(applies only to pawns)" must have been erased then. :/ It was stated from the beginning of the section winners concept that only pawns were eligible, but others could donate theirs to their favourite pawn.

Oh wait... I got a month, and 4 days....!

Here I am trying to get money moved into my PayPal account so I could renew in a hurry... Now I find out I got an extra month to wait until I "hurry and renew" :-)

Where does it say that the winner of a section cant keep the price?

Each section winner will recieve a 6 months brain knight membership. Enter to win.

My membership runs out in 4 days - both of you can donate to me - two 6 month knights = 6 month rook! :-)

Subject: Re: BK Fund Raiser Prize Tournament
Yes that's the way it goes. Overall winner will receive $50. If you win that it's yours to keep. Each section will have a winner or more in case of a tie.
