And if someone does go over 1500 before the start, as long as they are not WAY over 1500 I usually let them play - but lets say all of a sudden a person signed up while unrated, then has a rating of 1800 when it is ready to start, I will then remove them so it will be more fair for the other players. (But if someone has 1525 or something just over 1500, I don't worry about those.)

... And for everyone else - just a few more days to sign up for All Games for Dummies #3 tournament - and there are still a few games with only 2 or 3 people signed up - each section needs at least 4 players to start.

I've just had a quick butcher's, Scarlet, and the
overall winner is seti vikki (sp).

In the first round, 3 tied in section 2 for first place so there were 4 in round 2 - which seti vikki won, 3-0.

The other day Fencer sent me a message saying all sections were complete in a tourney I held called.. "ScarletRose's Tribute to 911". My problem is.. this was the 2nd round and it looks as if the three of us all tied up.. How do we break the tie??

This tournament is to start on March 15th. It is all game types, for players that are rated under 1500, or unrated.

This tournament is perfect for:

► People who are not as good in a certain game, so you won't get killed by "master players"
► People who would like to try out a new game - What a better time to try something new against people who you might have a chance with.

==============
A game needs to have at least 4 players signed to start, and the majority of them already have the 4 signed up, but some still need a few players. Take a look, and find the game which you would like to give a try.... and this is the best time to try out a new game!

Tournament will start in about 4 days, so go check it out now!

Problem being with the paypal link is people are sending in money an if they dont tell Linda or harley their email address no one has two clues who sent in money so ppl have to say ok im joe@home.ca that sent you 5 bucks..
if you send your money by snail mail dont forget to include your BK name so ppl will know who it is from.

coan.net
When you pay by PayPal, it give your e-mail address as the ID. (The only reason they ask for your e-mail so they can make sure they match up the payment which is already sent to the correct userID)

To not give out your e-mail, you will probable just want to send payment through postal mail.

Bernice: go to the backgammon variations discussion board and see if there's anything there.
Anti-backgammon, eh? I don't play it myself, I prefer a game I have some chance of finishing in my lifetime.

LOL Long John, i suppose the creator has to change name for his tournaments now.
Shouldnt be a problem for him, his profile says he is webmaster for an Othello Union in UK, must be creative? :)

Unless Fencer advises me differently, I am going to remove any posts here that have a suggestion of 'bickering' in them - be they advertising a tournament or not.

This isn't the place for personal disagreements.

We have reached our goal of 100 people. We will now begin to collect the $5 entry fee.
A link has been provided for pay-pal at the tournament. You can donate any amount you would like but minimum is $5 to enter.
You can make your payment or enter this tournament
here.PAY-PAL
A great big thank-you to all that entered and lots of luck.

*note* You do not have to be in this tournament to make a donation.
If you do not use pay-pal and want to send a check or money order please contact me, a mailing address will be provided.

Fencer, cant anything be done at the Tournament list. All "childish" names and even antigames against paying members (Long John free zone is the last example). As far as i know has Long John paid for a pawn and now he has set up a prize tourney with 2 years membership as a prize.
Should he be "rewarded" with an anti tournament just because he seems to have pissed someone off?
I think CHILDISH is only the middle name!

LJ - Well as it sounds, once BK2.0 come around, there will be true "site tournaments" and then "player tournaments". So maybe a suggestion would be to have different "winners" stats for each type of tournament.

I was wondering about that... Of course more people will sign up for a free chance to win, than for a 5 dollar sign up fee...

7. March 2004, 23:30:57

So when BK2.0 is around, the "Fast start" tournament which I normally don't mess with the date and just start when 5 people sign up.

I will then have to set a date for lets say a week - then when 5 people sign up, change the date back to current time and then start the tournament?

I dont see a 5.00 cover charge on LongJohns tourny.
I would imagine folks would be more apt to participate,if it doesnt cost anything to join.
but of course...just my opinion

7. March 2004, 23:05:28
Fencer
Of course.

Be careful with the deadline parameter. When BK 2.0 is done and released, the "start tournament" button will be removed and all tournaments will be started automatically, according to their set deadline. And this process won't be reversable.

MUST HAVE MORE THAN 200 PLAYERS TO START FOR THE BEST PRIZE EVER OFFERED ON BK

LJ what I dont get is you have March 30 as your last day to sign up, You wont start with out 200 folks yet you know Linda has been trying to get only 100 to sign up for over a month and shes not quite there. How do you propose you will get 200 to sign up with in just 3 weeks? Or was that part of the plan to make it look great when it's not really going to happen? Why not take the 200 part off?

was only a suggestion of a way to possibly raise more..

It has been decided how the money will be collected and will be very soon.
Of course anyone who wanted to donate anything above the entry fee would be more then welcome to.
You can also pay for someone else to play in the tournament if you'd like.
I don't know about a larger prize though.
Guess we will have to wait to see what is collected. That could get a little confusing and it is a fund raiser. ;•)

Hmmmmm

What about people who may want to put more than $5 up? I was thinking it might be interesting that if people wanted to do that, that maybe half of whatever they put up extra goes to the prize, and the other half to Fencer.. So if 10 people put up $10 instead, Fencer would get an extra 25, and the prize could go up 25?
Just a thought.. It's verrrry late and I think I'm half asleep..
:-)

another query linda . some sections could have tied winners (possibly a few sections will get this happening) what will happen then ...who gets to promote a pawn one of them or both of them or half each lol.

7. March 2004, 08:49:16

No Bernice. Fencer gets $450 or whatever the total is - the $50 prize money.
Fencer generously donated the knight memberships.

LindaJ tourney?
all the prizes...
advertised $50 winner.....$450 Fencer
Who is paying for the "every section winner wins a prize"
20 new members = 5 sections = overall = Big-one :)
Brain Kinght costs (cant think) but maybe $18 x 20 = $360....plus final winner = $50...overall that is $410....does Fencer get only $90..

what i really want to know.....who is paying the 20 new memberships? does the $450 got to Fencer as originally planned?

7. March 2004, 08:09:43
Linda J
Subject: BK Fund Raiser Prize Tournament
We need at least 4 more people for this tournament to make 100. If we get 100 people the tourney will be divided into 20 sections. Each section will have a winner of 6 months brain knight membership.
That's 20 new members for the site. Plus the $50 overall prize.
You can enter this tournament HERE
