Interesting, though, that you won't see him complaining about THAT here… he will complain about running out of time (claiming it's a bug), other people sending him unpleasant messages (claiming they are harassing him), and whatnot, but NOT about an obvious bug he must have noticed…

Back*turnajek

It has a time control of 30 days per move. With weekend days, that is 6 weeks per move, so there is no reason for him to lose vacation days.

It is ridiculous to have a tournament with time controls that long....

I'm involved in a tournament where one individual has not made their fist move yet in over a month. They are on Auto vacation mode and their alloted amount of vacation has not gone down each day, it stays the same and they still have not even been logged in since October. is this a glitch? also does auto vacation ever deduct if i move in some games and not in others? if i have 30 days and i move in 3 of my 5 games will i still lose a day? since i did not move in those two games?

ok, so maybe I've just never noticed this before. If I have online players, and I choose one of those to start, it always goes to the next online player. And if I run out of online players, it goes to the main page. Then if I start playing off line players, it goes to the next offline. hmmm. I've never noticed it before but I'm usually zoning out and watching TV as I play.

rod03801: But this is the way it's always worked for me. I have my filter set to go to online opponents. It's ALWAYS gone to the main page when there is no online opponent. It NEVER has gone to the next available game. NEVER. Until now. And it doesn't do it in every case. The way it is filtering now is not the way it has filtered for me in the past. And IF it's supposed to go to the next game if the selected filter criteria isn't there, well that's not working consistently for me either. So either way, there's a problem. I tested this several times and sometimes I go to next game (when there is no online player) and other times back to the main page even though there are still several game in which for me to move.

Fencer: Personally, I think going to the Main Page would be more appropriate. That lets you know that the particular "filter" you chose, contains no more games in that "category".

I know it works that way with Move and go to Next Fischer clock game. When there are no more, it goes to the main page. I like that!

And if that means that particular choice is "broken" , PLEASE don't fix it!

Like just now I moved in a game. And the only other game available is an off-line opponent. After submitting my move I was sent to my game page (as it usually does in that situation). Only lately has it gone to next game. And then not in all cases. So that only adds to my confusion.

I wonder if anyone else is experiencing this problem. My game settings are set to send the next game to online opponents. If someone is online, after submitting the current move, the next online opponent game appears. All is good. But, if there is no online opponent, it still goes to the next game instead of just going to the game sheet. It's never done this before and just started a few days or so ago. Odd.

The is a difference between a knockout tournament that has started and a tournament that hasn't started.

I forgot what a pain being a pawn was!
When I started here I withdrew from a prize tour to play another prize tour and won it, only to find that I wasn't going to get the prize because the prize was over multiple games :( !
Multi tournament free prize events are a tease. Pawns shouldn't be allowed to enter events they can't win.

Aganju: Me too! Somtimes, when I went quickly from one back-/nackgammon game to another, I got the same dice roll again. I wasn't sure if it is a bug, it may have been coincidence. But if others observe it too, there must be something about it.

I generally don't trust the dice generation on BK very much.

There is a way to solve this topic: by using a CSPRNG (cryptographically secure pseudorandom number generator). It is surprisingly easy to program one by using a block cipher like XTEA and encrypt a counter value to obtain random numbers, with a secret key. The code may be published so that the users know that the random number generation is well programmed. The random numbers cannot be predicted, though, if the key is kept secret. One might even use a different key for every game and publish the key after the game has ended, so that the users can check if the random numbers in their game have been created correctly.

Subject: the old randomness topic...
Again I have reason to mistrust the randomness of dice roll. I just played 9 backgammon games in a row, and all 9 opponent had a 6-6 roll .
Nine in a row, without anything else in between. Does anyone believe this is pure chance? Two days ago, I had a streak of 5 such 6-6 rolls (didn't complain about that one, though).
Generally, I have the feeling if you play fast enough, you can get the same roll again in the next game, for about 10 to 15 seconds. So whenever I have a nice double roll, I hurry really up to play, as I can manage to 'roll' the same double in the next three or four games. Try it, if you don't believe it. And if a roll is bad, like 1-2, I typically wait ten secs until I press 'Send Move'.
I remember Fencer claims that the current server milliseconds are used for the randomizing; there could be an error in the code there, and it uses the single digit seconds instead? or some other error. Re-Randomizing for every roll is not a good solution anyway; there are much better ways to make good random numbers (my Minor topic in my masters degree was 'Random Number Generation'; it was a while ago, but I still remember some things).

I think this subject has been discussed before, but I was under the impression that the bug had been fixed:

When someone lets their paid membership run out, it seems as if they're rewarded with another 10 vacation days because they are now a pawn. I don't think this is the way it is intended to work?

Although it is not officially documented, a Black Rook purchased with a red code can be duplicated and the owner can give to another user, use it as a tournament prize etc. Of course, he cannot sell it back to BrainKing and except us to pay 360 EUR for it. Bonuses are not refundable.

For 360 euros, you get the "forever" black rook, and then you are done... bonuses do not matter at that point.... IF you are only buying for yourself... I see what Gabriel is saying... you can get another black rook forever and gift it to someone. I can not confirm nor deny if that is true... I trust Gabriel is correct then.

Red bonus = 2 membersips forever?

Green = Forever+ 1 month?

Purple = forever + 25% of forever = 2 memberships forever?

Blue = forever + 50% of forever = 2 memberships forever?

Cyan = forever + 75 of forever = 2 membership forever?

If you have 25% of inifinity it is still infinity!

MadMonkey: I did a test tonight, and went through and only had 10 pawn games to move on, and they all came up, one right after other, using "move and go to next game with non paying member". Then, when they were done, it went to main page, as expected.

HOWEVER, I noticed that once I started then moving on my games, every time I submitted a move, it went to the next game with a rook (or whatever), instead of going to the Main Page. (I hadn't changed the default action).

So, I wonder if there's any connection.

So, what I found with "Move and go to next game with non paying member"
1. If it is from pawn game, and there is another pawn game it goes to another pawn game
2. If it is from a pawn game, and there is NOT another pawn game, it goes to Main page
3. If it is from a Rook game, and there is not a pawn game, it continues to just go to next rook games (or whatever level), without going back to Main Page.

I didn't get to test it, but I think #4 would be If it is from a Rook game, and there IS a pawn game, it would go to a pawn game, fine.

To me, all are as expected, except #3. To me it should go to the Main Page in that case, to be consistent.
