What speculations? Until something like that is announced at Server News, there are no changes in BrainKing staff.

I have posted a new news page (chess club) but it has not replaced the last one on the club front page?
Is there some other action I have to take?

Fencer I know you don't like to talk about this subject but your refusal to speak is only spawning more speculation and turning this place into a war zone. Please set the record straight and get this place back on track.Has Gothic taken over here?

Subject: Good luck
i've played on a number of sites (and they all crash) and no one has found a way to prevent obnoxious posts.
i sort of skip though them and treat it as backround noise.
censorship proposals seem to just create a whole new conflict - between advocates and opponents of censorship - and this might be a motive.
that is, as is well-recorded, the best way to get a book read is to have it banned by a library.

I think having more than one Moderator per board is a superb idea! Let me just add that the 'Main Moderator' should get to choose the other Moderator(s). Perhaps the number of Moderators could be weighed according to the traffic and/or subject on each board to ensure the best service?

No more questions for CaoZ please, his interview has been sent to him and his replies will be posted here soon.

You can still read Fencers interview HERE if you missed it the first time!

The NEXT interviewee is Liquid. Now is your chance to find out everything you wanted to know about him! Send me your questions, and don't forget to say if it is ok to add your name or not :o)

No worries, noholdsbarred, thats what I'm here for. And I've taken a much tougher stance lately. NO off-topic posts will be left here from now on. No matter how benign they may be. Angst doesn't stand a chance :o)

I take it you refer to the bile board or graffiti wall. I was not aware of fellowships dedicated to that function.
The parties involved in the clash of personalities (delightfully phrased), that sparked my post, were as i recall both rooks.
Fencer clearly has it in hand.
The real point I was trying to make was to keep the angst of this board.

noholdsbarred, Are you aware that several fellowships have been created for that purpose, until Fencer could set up a general one? The only disadvantage is that pawns are not allowed in fellowships.

And I agree with multiple moderators. It would make things easier.

Fencer... an idea for the pot
given the world wide nature of the membership would it be a good idea to have more than one moderator per board. By careful geographical selection monitoring could then be 24hr.
Further as "big boss" (not my favourite term) of a fellowship and having been travelling a lot recently, I have not done all that was needed to restore the fellowship PC (post crash) it would assist greatly if I could have a standin?..
Though the guys in the club have done a lot having someone else also able to post the news etc ... thoughts?

Subject: Ladies?
Given that poor old Harley has clearly not seen this may I make a point about the function of this board.
This is the site main discussion board...
quote "Board for everybody who is interested in BrainKing.com itself, its structure, features and future"
It is not the place for cat fights. There is absolutely no excuse for public personal invective.
Disagree by all means but express yourselves in civilised terms.
To do less is to demean yourselves and reduce your conduct to the same level as those whom you abuse.
More importantly you bore the readers and lose the force of any validity your arguements may have had.
A thought for Fencer... why not have an board for people who wish to indulge themselves in this way. At least then the rest of us could enjoy reasoned debate and those who like that sort of thing will also have their needs met.
The moderators could then simply transfer offending posts to it.
One last thought... there are those who give offense and those who take it... you can only be provoked if you allow it.

Actually I think eddie after the crash resigned all the battleboat games (giving him many many loses) which lowered his rating that low.

Do you remember the crash?? Perhaps his games were played during that time.. (More than likely) and since the crash wiped out about 2 months worth of memory.. I would suggest that to be the reason it shows the conflict..

WORST VIRUS EVER--CNN ANNOUNCED feel free to
PLEASE SEND THIS TO EVERYONE ON YOUR CONTACT LIST !!
A new virus has just been discovered that has been classified by
Microsoft as the most destructive ever! This virus was discovered
yesterday afternoon by McAfee and no vaccine has yet been developed.
This virus simply destroys Sector Zero from the hard disk, where vital
information for its functioning are stored.
This virus acts in the following manner: It sends itself automatically
to all contacts on your list with the title "A Card for You".
As soon as the supposed virtual card is opened, the computer freezes so
that the user has to reboot. When the ctrl+alt+del keys or the reset
button are pressed, the virus destroys Sector Zero, thus permanently
destroying the hard disk. Yesterday in just a few hours this virus
caused panic in New York, according to news broadcast by CNN. This alert
was received by an employee of Microsoft itself.
So don't open any mails with subject:
"A Virtual Card for You."
As soon as you get the mail, delete it!! Even if you know the sender!!!
Please pass this mail to all of your friends.
Forward this to everyone in your address book. I'm sure most people, like myself, would rather receive this notice 25 times than not at all
HAVE A GREAT DAY

GothicInventor The environment is changing 15. November 2003, 10:33:17
In case you have not noticed. Everyone has been given a clear slate at ths point in time. Dano was warned about his posts, which were unwarranted, and now he is gone.

He keeps making mention of manipulated posts. I am not sure what he means by that. I occasionally make typo corrections or punctuation changes at the tournament board, if this is manipulation, so be it.

Yes, I posted that I would help everyone playing Dano in Gothic Chess to win. I was letting off steam, but I really meant it when I said it. Logistically, does anyone really believe this was possible? In fact, nobody took me up on my offer, as those who were members of the fellowship recall. They all wanted to try and give him a drubbing by their own hands, win, lose, or draw.

I posted it mostly because I knew it would agitate dano when it leaked, so the spies helped me immensely, and I thank you for it.

It was an impossible task to do (play every move for every opponent against dano) but knowing the way his paranoia is manifest, I knew it would send him over the deep end.

So what had I actually done?

I made a post, then took no action on it. How many times a day do we each do similar things? You see a beautiful woman walking down the street, do you think "I wonder if she likes doing Crossword Puzzles?" If you see an armored car making a cash pickup at a store, do you think "I wonder what kind of gas mileage it gets?"

No, we have fleeting thoughts about getting her in the sack, and tossing bags of money into the back seat and peeling off down the road. (Or maybe peeling off down the road with the girl in the back seat, and sleeping with the bags of money, whatever you prefer!)

The point being my previous fellowship was created for those to let off steam about dano, much as this one is most likely geared at letting steam off about me.

But does anyone really think I crashed the server just so dano, who won his section in the $3000 Gothic tournament, would not be able to continue on? Did he really think I was making all of those moves against him and he kept beating me game after game?

Folks, you have to face the fact that he was at least a little off his rocker. If nothing else, this must be conceeded.

The server crashed. That's all that happened.

A new policy is in place. It is one we can all live with. When I make a post about how the 4 kings in the deck of cards are not really modeled after those in antiquity that have permeated the culture, then someone calls me a prick for doing so, a line has been crossed. It was uncalled for.

Even now, I could of had this person banned, but I elected not to do so.

No more warnings will ever be issued, as the policy is any direct insult, in a private or public forum, will result in an immediate banning.

If it cannot be discussed without name calling, do us all a favor, and save yourself some keystrokes.

If you have read the hidden message I placed in this post, you know which 4 people will be banned next because they will most likely make snide remarks about this post. This is what I am hoping for. This is the bait
