You don't have to post absolute URLs, use relative ones instead. Something like this board. Then it will work everywhere.

When you make a link to somewhere else inside BrainKing, you should always try to use the "short" version.

For example, this will bring people to the BrainKing.com discussion board (and will work for people using the "new.brainking.com, "www.brainking.com", AND "brainking.com")

<A.HREF="/game/Board?bc=1"> LINK <./A>

Making links now within BrianKing sometimes won't work, unless they have an option for both systems currenty running!!

Example, I was in on the new system and pasted some links I had sone on the old one to some tournaments, it chucks you to the main log-in page of the old system then :)

Just incase some of you click them and think they ain't working LOL

bumble: Although I agree with you, it is not possible at the moment. The new version of BrainKing will support redirecting paying members to the faster server automatically.

11. November 2003, 14:21:26
MidnightMcMedic
But it makes sense, as scarey as that is!

11. November 2003, 14:17:27
bumble
Fencer: Does the 'new' brainking kick in automatically when the 'original' brainking is getting full?

I was thinking (always dangerous) that if members were to use the 'new' one and pawns were to use the 'old' one, would that help lighten the load, or more evenly distribute the traffic. A link to the 'new' bk could then be put on the 'members only' board.

I know, I know.... I admit it! I haven't a clue about computers and servers and stuff.

Anybody who wants to participate in testing of our experimental configuration, feel free to use http://new.brainking.com. It is not a new version of BrainKing, only a kind of simple load balancer on our current servers.
It could be faster and more stable. If you have problems with that, you can always return to normal BrainKing.com URL.

Hey Felix, I hope Mr. Trice does indeed get your money to you. But it needs to be made clear that this has nothing to do with Brainking.com. I only point this out, because when you brought it up, it was in reference to a player here wanting a refund because of the site problems. And you told him/her to not hold their breath. Just because you have run into problems with the creator of that tournament, in NO way indicates how Fencer would handle this other person's problem.
I FULLY sympathize with you, I just don't think it's fair to criticize the website for a personal matter between you and Mr. Trice.
Good luck getting your money. I would be frustrated too.

I am on nights this week, so on here same time as the Americans at the moment. I managed 590 moves yesterday, so even if this was across 16 hrs (960 mins) I would have made a move every 1.6 mins, and managed to post on many boards .So maybe this says the site is not as slow as it seems :o)

11. November 2003, 02:04:31

A bit slow? That is the understatement of the year. It just took me about 10 minutes and 5 BrainKing.com is temporarily down messages to try and sign back in.

Subject: Re: Game Time Limits
I would have to have over 2 months more vacation days added to my account to take in to account the server "time warp"

... and with the site still going slow (move is waiting in different window as I type this), and I'm now stuck with many more games then I can handle - I would at least like the site to add 3-5 days to each "0" game - then I could use my vacations and stuff to help me play my games without timeing out. Right now, my vacation days would do no good with the games at "0" time - only other games that are getting close to the "0" time while I try to get through all the extra games I have now! :-(

The point is that it is the site's fault that I have too many games now - I planned ahead and got my game count down as I started a new job, but because of site problems, I need a little more help to get going again. That's all i'm asking for... a little more help! :-)

I disagree. We've all had a week. It's time to move on.The quicker we move on the less gripes will be heard about the......well you know.
If I was so concerned about my games timing out that would and should be the #1 priority.Work on them before anything else or use some vacation time.To many people are complaining about slow movers now.I do realize some people have more time to spend here than others.
