Subject: DRAW
Hi THere should be No Draw in a GAME'S... My opp wanted to DRAW .. So i did ...and the game no one got a win or lost ... if i New that i would not of DRAW..Because I had the game won.. there SHOULD BE NO DRAW IN ALL BACKGAMMON GAMES.. IN ANY GAME...TAKE THE DRAW AWAY... Because I WILL NOT DRAW ANYMORE....THANK YOU..

Sometimes draw is a good thing for example if one person had an emergancy and can not finish the game and to be nice to just draw the game instead of taking the lose.

But like always, it is up to the person if they want to accept or decline a draw. Personally if I'm going to win a game, I will not draw either - it would be better for the other person to just resign.

OMG I was thinking Zoloft or something similar when I started reading this thread, now I think Colt or Magnum might solve Zugs problem LOL

Can you even begin to imagine the time it would take for Fencer to look into someones games, ascertain what dice would screw someone, and then have to continually monitor the game to ensure he screwed them enough? Then to write some kind of script (I aint a programmer) to force the dice a certain combo.
That would be a full time job in itself.

silly or not.. that's the way it is here....i've been keeping track of my moves for a while now and here's what i get...out of 163 gammon moves i've gotten 22 doubles of those.. 2 were 6's...163 moves and 2 sets of 6's.!!!....4 were 5's...5 were 4's and the rest was just to make it look like i get doubles as somebody scrolls down my game moves...also out of 163 moves i've gotten 75 moves that were 1-2...1-3...or 1-4......i hope whoever's screwing with my dice gets tired of it soon....can't you find something else to do..??!!.....how about fixing the site..!!...it's strange when i have games to make moves in the site all of a sudden screws up and dam near runs backwards it stutters around so much.....but if i don't have any game to send it runs fine....i can click this and that and have no problems at all but as soon as a game is sent to me ..boom...there's the stuttering back again.....who's idea of fun is that...i call it aggravating and i'd sure never pay somebody for a crap site like this..!!

5. January 2004, 16:11:15
Bongo
my mistake...i missed a game adding the 1-2's ..1-3's and 1-4's....so i have 90 of those ...out of 163 moves....all i can say is it doesn't happen that way playing on a real board and it doesn't happen that way at any other sites i play at....only here....and i figure the site stuttering when i click games is when you look to see what will screw my game up the worst and give me that...this is the WORST site on the internet...!!!!!!!

coan.net
Don't take this the wrong way, but if you really feel that this is the "worst site on the internet", maybe you should try playing somewhere else.

I personally do not believe that someone would take the time out of their lives to personally pick out a pawn and make them get bad rolls.... I also believe that there is nothing I can say will change your mind either.... so honestly, if you really feel that way - it might be best to just start playing somewhere else.

Zuggie.. if it's bothering you this much, why play here ? The fact that you've looked into the amount you have, and complained about it a whole heap in the past, makes it pretty clear that you think the dice-man has a personal vendetta against you ! If it's causing you that much bother, and this site is as bad as you think.. oh, and I forgot about you thinking all members are cheating, or have someone fixing the dice on their behalf, then simply play elsewhere !

you haven't really played all that many games over all the variants here yet.. try playing a load more, and I'm sure you'll see that everything average's out over a larger number of games. Afterall, backgammon's a game where luck of the dice (good or bad !) really does have a lot to do with it.

5. January 2004, 17:01:43
Bongo
yes...members get better dice....the funny thing is they play their dice so dam dumb i can still win...your right about how many hours it would take to make sure EVERY move is watched so once in a long while i seem to catch whoever it is asleep and get decent dice.....but then the site slows down again and i can tell they're looking my games over again to see what to screw me again.....isn't it fun....if i left... then what would they do for fun....??

5. January 2004, 17:05:11
coan.net
Again, if you really feel that someone is sitting somewhere and personnaly giving you bad dice, you should just go somewhere else to play.

Why don't we tell whoever is messing with your dice to stop? Well because for 1) We do not know who is doing that, and 2) I personally do not believe that someone would do that.

Again, I don't think there is any way for me (or anyone) to make you believe that, so maybe it would be best just to play somewhere else that you trust more.

5. January 2004, 17:16:10
Bongo
so your saying that the games i have that are almost totally 1-2's and 1-3's and 1-4's will average out and i'll get entire games of doubles.....i've thought maybe that would happen too but it just seems to get worse.....count your moves and how many 6's you've gotten in that many moves...then come back and tell me it'll average out....mine don't average out...i have to scrape and claw in every game i play here while everybody i play just breezes around the board with double after double...your right though...i will stop playing here soon....no fun playing somewhere that's rigged for only paying players to win....although i put up a dam good fight even with the crap....i can't believe you all think it's so on the up and up....i wish you all could play my dice for a week i think you'd get pretty pissed and wind up writting here too..

5. January 2004, 17:23:43
Niki
I'd certainly be interested in playing a game against you to see if your dice really are that consistently bad .. though ofcourse, if they were ok in that particular game, you might accuse me of being in league with the nasty man who's been playing with your dice up till now :0)
but seriously, if you're up to the challenge... ?

I just checked zuggie's current dice rolles. He has 7 games going right now, 1 battleboat and 6 versions of gammon, here are his current rolls, 6-2,6-4,6-5,6-2,2-2 and 6-4. So obviously he is delusional

If the loser has not borne off any of his checkers he is gammoned (and would lose twice the value of the doubling cube if there was one) If the loser has not borne off any of his checkers and still has a checker on the bar, or in the winners home board, he is backgammoned (and would lose 3 times the value of the doubling cube)

Subject: Re: Question
But since currently the double cube is not used at this site, and all games are a 1 point match - sometimes (if far behing) it is a stratigy to keep some of your pieces in the players home field in the hopes of taking out one of thier checkers and hopefully giving you a second chance.... but when playing with the cube, that is a very dangerous strategy since you could lose 2-3 times the value of the cube.

i wouldn't say 95%, but high nevertheless. Positioning of the pieces plays a big part to setting up a winning position.
iyt successfully incorporates the doubling cube, it is just another option while it's your turn after all. It should be added here as well, along with the bug fix that allows the use of one die only when both are available.

Subject: Re: Backgammon
"Backgammon" is not mostly luck, or there would not be players with ratings as high as yours! An individual game of backgammon can be determined by the dice, but a player's overall success -- such as is shown by his rating -- is determined entirely by skill. In other words, since in the long run luck is the same for everyone, a player's RELATIVE degree of overall success has nothing to do with luck and everything to do with his or her ability.

Subject: Re: Backgammon
right, in the long run it will tend to show the better players, though the luck aspect will mean the ratings will fluctuate more than a game like chess (my rating fluctuates between 1900 and 2100, whereas in chess versions it is relatively stable).

I'm sure you two guys are right about the luck aspect. The cream will always rise to the top eventually. The more games used for calculating the rating the better.

LJ - I would agree that turn-based cubing is pointless (That is if you are looking for quick games) Some people don't mind longer games, and an idea is to put a "warning" on cubed games (once they come here) that games could take longer then normal... or something like that.

Actually a good place to play quicker backgammon "cubed" tournament is www.dailygammon.com - which is turn based, but was a cool unique "computer guessing" which will allow you to make mulitple moves in one turn.

So i suggest auto moves for cubed games where the player has no choice (Stuck on the bar), as well as playing tournaments where the max turn time is 1 day.
In addition often the round winners can be figured out before all the slow games are played.
Finally, you can always play quick games on this site if you want as long as both players want to.

Subject: BK Fund Raiser Prize Tournament
Instead of talking about it all day, we're doing something to raise money. We are trying to set up a prize tournament to raise money for BK. The tournament will be backgammon with an entrance fee of $5 with all proceeds going to BK. The prize will be $50 to the winner. Get a chance at $50 and help BK all in one. You will be asked to pay the fee of $5 once we know we have enough interested players. All entrance fees will have to be collected before the tournament can begin.
In order for this to work well we are hoping for at least 100 entrants which would be $500
$450 would go to BK and $50 to the winner. Please only serious entrees please. If you sign up for this tournament we will take it that you will be willing to pay the fee.

You can sign up for this tournament
Here

If you do not play backgammon and would like to donate please send me a pm. Thanks :•)

When I roll the three doubles and win a lost game, the dice are so very smart. :)

ok, i forgot which board they were talking about using only one dice and this site doesnt support the real rules of backgammon.. (which board was it that Harley said take it here?) i tried all on my list.. anyway, i hope this is going to be answered.. i just learned this game on this game site, so i didnt know any other rules, so all you gammoners who play by the rules, if ive ever used a dice wrongly, hey, i didnt know!! so now i have a ?

i just played a turn where i was booted to the bar, my turn came up and my dice were a 1 and a 6. the larger of the 2, (the 6) was not a playable number, but i was able to get out on the 1, was that legal by the rules of backgammon, or just something allowed here?

21. May 2004, 19:25:00
grenv
Subject: Rules
If the larger number is not playable at all, you are allowed to play the smaller.

You are NOT allowed to play ONLY the smaller if you could have moved the larger, or both, some other way.

This rule is NOT supported here, so we are really playing brainkinggammon, rather than backgammon. I understand that it is a bug that was prioritized low, presumably because the owner of the site is not a big proponent of the game?

For the same reason the doubling cube, which is essential to a real game, is not here either.

If backgammon is your main game go to another site.

Subject: Re: Rules
Grenv is precisely correct. This raises the question whether one who knows the rules should play by them, even when ignoring the rules gives him a better outcome.

I have gone both ways on this question, but lately I have decided to make the "really" correct move, rather than the move that is legal only in "brainkinggammon".

21. May 2004, 21:04:40
grenv
agreed, i would never knowingly play an illegal move.
