jadarite: ah i now see what you mean ... that would be useful indeed ... often in chess types i think about a move, but cant decide yet before real life kicks in again and drags me away from brainking ... when i finally have time again to get back to brainking i have to restart the thinking, which i might not have to do when they move would have been saved but not submitted

is that what you mean ?

Subject: Re: Undoing a move within 3 or so minutes.
jadarite: i understand the difference between putting a move into the computer, or playing directly on the computer

there is even a difference between playing on the computer or on a phone. people tend to submit moves faster (without checking) on phones (in my experience)

the question is: suppose there is a undo mechanism here .. in which you can undo a move in about 30 seconds .. would you go back to each game after you submitted the move? in case of the action of going back, you could change that action into checking before submitting the move .. each is an extra action you have to perform, and each can be forgotten as easily

i had to change my gameplay as well: in the past i used the mouse to click on 'cancel this move' when i didnt want ... i especially use that in froglet games in which i view the board as it would be after i made the move, before i submit the move .... i accidently clicked on submit instead of cancel a few times .... after that i am not using the backspace key on my keyboard to go back (and cancel) and use the mouse to submit my move, so i wont accidently use the wrong action (although they are clearly separated on this site i sometimes click too fast :))

jadarite: free accounts have unlimited moves per day, but a limit on how many games they can have going on at the same time ... so if you have a fast opponent, then you can have a lot of moves per day

one thing which might be different on my systems than the default systems is that i dont keep my history or cache (except on my phone) .. maybe a large history or old cached files can cause problems ?

King Pyrhus: to make 10k moves a day you could start a LOT of easy games like ludo for example with various fast playing opponents, in different parts of the world, to make sure someone will play at your night time as well:)

then as you calculated : there are more than 80k seconds in 24 hours, so you have more than 8 seconds per move .. which is more than enough in easy games

the main point is : your have to make sure you always have games waiting for your move, so you need a lot of games, and fast playing opponents

Subject: Re: Dice Games
Herlock Sholmes: i think those games are more popular because they are fast to play ... the outcome of the dice limits your choices, are often less complicated than their non-dice counter-parts

the faster a game can be played, the easier time-limited people will start some, and the faster a game can be played, the sooner a new game can start, so more games per time can be played

move that chat to a fellowship please ... the subject it is about now has nothing to do with brainking itself

26. April 2011, 15:35:07

my 2 cents : if i cant play and i used up all my vacation days .. then i would not like it .. but i would accept it

i play for fun and ranking, but fun comes first, and i would miss playing on here if i wouldnt be able to login, but there are more important things in life

personally i would not like my opponent to hand over his game to someone else ... if the new player is much stronger and annihilates me with a short series of moves then it could spoil the game which might have been interesting with someone of an equal level as me .. if the new players is much weaker then it might spoil the game as well as there might not be the challenge which i expected .. and i wouldnt be able to learn from his moves (which i like to do while playing stronger opponents)

of course there is no 100% proof via which you can show someone is playing games for someone else :)

thisbeme: hooray for the constructive feedback! every site needs fresh ideas from its players

i dont know if you already did so, but could you post the mancala variant on the feature request board or on the mancala board ?

the reason why there is not real 'autopass' is that in that way there can be no talk between the (passed) game moves .. personally i would love real autopass or maybe an option to turn it off and on .. but fencer likes this site to be more social than the usual game sites on which you just make your moves

Subject: ponds
personally i always think games should be played without help from anyone else ... ponds included .. i like the invidual acclompishment :)

but calling someone a cheater while he is just making use of the rules is too much

the issue with team play in ponds might be brought up in a discussion about ponds .. that has my full support

personally i think team play should not be allowed, and i think to remember from the earlier discussion that most players think about it that way

i fully respect tenuki and i dont think he has done anything wrong personally .. (although i didnt think about the rules about losing on purpose of bootsting ratings .. that indeed conflicts with the outcome of the former discussion (in which team play was not forbidden))
