At one time, Fencer talked about a limit of 5 days for auto-vacation days to be taken (IN A ROW), and most seemed to like that idea - I'm not sure if that is still a planned feature or not.

That way if people need to take a vacation, they can schedule them for however long they need - but if an emergency comes up, the 5 days of auto-vacation (and 2 weekend days) should give someone up to a week to hopefully recover from the emergency to get on-line.

edited to add "in a row"

grenv: I think autovacation is useful. For example last night we had network outage. Due to that I lost 4 or 5 games by timeout (but my fault, I play too slow and often leave my moves until last moment). But if I were paid member in that time, I would be protected and not time out. I think that benefit should remain.

gambler104: What if you go on a 2 week vacation? Auto vacation is nice since often I can get access to the internet even if I am away so I don't need to book off my vacations on the site. It is more usefull for if life gets to busy to come online.

Stopping players from entering a tournament based on the number of games they have going on is not a good idea. Some players have a 1000 or more games going but move relatively quickly. And this player does not have an extraordinary number of games. I think a better idea would be saying you can only take 10 vacation days or something during one game.

andreas: autovac is silly. If you have a vacation you can set it up, no need for it to be automatic. Also, the game in question is a tournament.

grenv: I think autovacation is a nice feature and should be kept. Slow playing people is a problem (if any) only in tournaments, not in individual games.

May be a new option for tournament creation is needed, like "Only for players with less then X ongoing games". Then the player with more ongoing games can't sign up for this tournament.

Subject: Feature requests
Byt back to feature requests. I just out of curiosity looked at all my posts here (show this user posts). There might be some useful feature requests which remained possibly unnoticed and some new possible ones.

From old ones: colors when defining New game are white, black. what about "random"?

New ones:
The thread thingy is handy, what about "hide thread" (way of moderation) with some possibility with "show all threads" to turn it back on.

Then, what about some way to see messages on hide by board moderator let's say at own risk by pushing some "I agree" button? Because it often happens and I think not only to me that some interesting thread is hidden or removed by board moderator, despite it's interesting for some people at least in reading mode, it can be without "reply" possibility. OK, I will stop here for today.

grenv: Yes, it went down and back up after renewal and by coincidence is at 15 again. Timing out yesterday means no decrease because of weekend, in 4 hours it will be 14. Period.

What's more it was 15 before and after timing out yesterday. If it's still 15 in 4 hours when he times out again then that would surely prove it?

Deceased: If i understand grenv, he said that the person is "timing out" on the game day after day, and the vacation days left stays at 15 (and never lowers)

Yes, someone could lower to almost nothing and then renew to get vacation days back, but grenv did not believe it dropped at all.

BIG BAD WOLF: I think in this particular case there wasn't any bug. The thing is the opponent prolonged his membership and therefore his vacation days counter was reset to the corresponding value. While some might think it's not OK that someone gets another pack of vacation days after he uses some in previous membership cycle, I think the opposite. And it's a nice motivation for membership purchase aswell.

grenv: You might want to send a PM to Fencer, let him know the game ID and such. There was once a "bug" which let people take advantage of the vacation system and not lose days. I thought it was fixed, but maybe there is some other bug Fencer does not know about (or it wasn't fixed).

Anyway, let Fencer know which games they are and I'm sure he could take a closer look at them....

Fwiffo: I want to use the feature to promot my fellowship. Others may chose to promote there products. You think the option should be available to be turned off I disagrea. It is out of the way, small and does not use up bandwidth as it is text. I think Fencer diserves the extra revenue and I think those willing to pay to use it should have everyone see it.

grenv: Ah I see one button on the main page. That would be good. Question is will fencer go for it. If not atleast having them grouped together allows games to play faster as hopefully everyone will play all those games first. Would also be nice if all the games that have only 1 possible move were grouped in with them but this may be pushing it.

I know Fencer does not like autopass. Instead of having an autopass feature could you put all the pass ones in a seperate group so players can quickly go through them and click pass. There should also be a "Go to next pass" option in the list that is default when you click on a game in this section.

People can 'buy' advertisements, but who is sold?

رضا: The majority of Brainking members are pawns so purchesers would still get good coverage. I personally don't mind the google ads and want to suport Fencer so I keep them on and even click on them ocasionally if I see something interesting. Though the ads on the right bar should be limmited. With the 1 ad there I can still see everything on my screen 1024x1280. More then 4 and stuff would start falling off the screen. However on a 1280x1024 monitor you can only put 1 ad before stuff I want to see falls off the bottom.

Will there be also an option to make invisible the new advertisements? Besides the great diversity of games and the userfriendly interface, I also like Brainking for the lack of advertisements. Nothing wrong with the current galery, but I'd hate to see products advertised there...
Hope there will be the same option as for "google banners": to turn them off.
