Subject: Re: Voluntary time extension
tonyh: Time extensions are good and this option has been proposed before. Our conclusion the last time it was sugested was that in the case of a tournament the time could only be mutually shortened not mutually extended. The reason mutuall shortening was sugested as being allowed was to allow friends that play often to move there games to the begining of the game list sorted by time left.

The reason this featur should not be allowed to extend game time is perfectly shown by this game which was started in 2005 and is still going.

grenv: I agrea with that. At the minimum unrated players should have no effect. If Fencer is fealing generus then there should be a ramp in effect from playing players from rated to established.

Subject: Re:
grenv: I though of another reason to why the BK rating score should be ajust. I am now in a rated game with an unrated player becouse of a team match. I can't refuse the game because the team leadet makes the games but it will effect my BKR. Now in this particular game my BKR is so low that I don't care but it is just another reason why BKR in a rated vs unrated game should only affect the unrated player.

SafariGal: Hard for me to say I have been programing for most of my life(18 years). You would need to learn Java. We(mostly hex kid) have been developing a script for users of Brainking to do a lot of things in user scripting but only paying members can get into fellowships. Not sure if hexkid wants to make this script available for all.

This may help. Dive into Grease Monkey

Subject: Re: player pictures
SafariGal: At present the only way to remove smileys and pictures is to use grease monkey and write a script to do it. As a paying member you have the option to turn off smileys.

I do think there should be a minimal bandwidth option available to all players. This would allow people to turn off all pictures and save bandwidth for both BrainKing and for those people that turn this feature on.

I would like this because when I am on a wrieless connection I don't always get a very fast connection to this site.

redfrog: I admit few would want to decrease the time limit. Just figured that in tournaments that option does not need to be restricted. Some may want to do it just so it pushes the game with a friend to the front of your game list while keeping your games sorted by time left.

Subject: Re: Statistics
grenv: not usually done on perpose. It just depends what kind of rounding formula is used on the random table. Most random formulas generate a number between 0 and 1 you then multiply that up to get a number between say 0 and 5. Add 1 and you 1 to 6 but if you round the numbers to the nearest whole number you will get 2 to 5 being more likely and 1 and 6 being not as often.

Subject: Re: Statistics
Fencer: Because I am currious. I have seen many random number generater algeritherms that have lower probability on the extreme values. I.E. 1 and 6. Ideally after several million roles they should be pretty close to falling 16% of the time. If they don't a simple fix to the lower odds of falling on the extremes is to randomly chose between 0 and 7 and re role if 0 or 7 comes up.

Subject: Hall of fame/shame
Would be nice if there was a feature that could be used in fellowships and message boards to make a hall of fame. People can submit there entries and a moderater can aprove the entry and it is automatically added in the right place.

For example in Ludo we started a hall of fame for most consecutive passes would be nice if people could just enter number of passes, the game and hit submit.

grenv: I think the reason is that people do things on the weekend. During the summer people that have cotages will often go to them on the weekend and presumably they would not have internet there. During the week I am on my computer atleast once every day but come the weekend if I am not supper busy I may spend an entire day out.

emmett: But the weekend is 2 days for most people. I know I work a 6 day 56 hour week but this is not the norm. At least not in North America I am not sure about the rest of the world.

If you have a problem with people taking weekends off and using up vacation days create tournaments and games without vacation days or weekends only.

francescolr: Yes an option to play all games at once that have only 0 or 1 possible move would be good. Preferable if just a single button but a seperate category with them grouped together is almost just as good. This feature would be especially usefull for crazy people like you that play several thousand moves a day. Might help you move up from 32 place in the most finished games catagory.

Fwiffo: I want to use the feature to promot my fellowship. Others may chose to promote there products. You think the option should be available to be turned off I disagrea. It is out of the way, small and does not use up bandwidth as it is text. I think Fencer diserves the extra revenue and I think those willing to pay to use it should have everyone see it.

If not atleast having them grouped together allows games to play faster as hopefully everyone will play all those games first. Would also be nice if all the games that have only 1 possible move were grouped in with them but this may be pushing it.
