Or add an option to allow create tournaments where we can choose the number maximum of games that a player must have to can play that tournament. Example: Backgammon tournament only acessible for players with less 1000 games.

If we can create a tournament for players with bkr between 1000 and 1600 points, for example, why not add this new option?

But for a reply - well that is a non-issue - since if for example Player 1 makers their move on March 1st - and Player 2 makes their move on March 3rd.

Player 1 will make a move - get autopassed back to him - make his next move - get autopassed back to him - make his next move and then send to Player 2.

Guess what - Player 2 STILL makes their next move on March 3rd - so they can still reply or talk at the same exact time they would have originally.

So to me - not being able to chat is a non-issue. (I would be happy to turn off my chat box like some players do if we could get an autopass setup on all games that can use them.)

Auto pass is an option that players can use or not, so i would like to know if there's the possibility to become this option compulsory for everybody, or at least for players with a high number of games like 500 or 1000, for example.

I say that because i'm playing with ladiesmaninny32 a game with 7 days per move that started on August and until now he only did 6 moves...6 moves in 6 months. Problem is not 7 days per move, but he use holidays and when holidays of 2008 finished, he won holidays of 2009.  This is ridiculous, the game will take a long time.

And ladiesmaninny32 is only an example, there're more players to do the same thing.

Just a little something for the weekend Fencer.

Would it be possible (well i know everything is lol) but when we get a Team Match finished message through. Could you add the Team position to it please.

e.g.
Monkeys Swinging Madhouse: old BKR = 1152, new BKR = 1214 (+62) ..... HERE
NULOVÁ ŠANCE: old BKR = 1116, new BKR = 1052 (-64) ..... HERE

This would also be nice in just normal game over messages. Would save having going to Ratings and tracking the one down you want

joshi tm: I rather have games with a different game play than size variants on games, or yet another chess variant.

Some examples:

  • 9 Men Morris. (Well known game)
  • Cats and Dogs. Played on an 8x8 (Go) board. Players alternate placing stones of their colour on the board, under the restriction you cannot put a stone horizontally or vertically adjacent to stone of your opponents colour. First player who cannot move loses.
  • Roots. Played on a 19x19 board. Players start with 8 'roots' of one stone each (roots are set up in a 4 x 4 grid, evenly spread out over the board, in alternating colours). Players alternate placing a stone of their colour on the board under the condition that each placed stone is horizontally or vertically adjacent to exactly one stone of their colour - so the groups look like root systems. If after a stone is placed one or more root systems cannot expand any further, they are removed from the board immediately. Winner is the person who eliminates all root systems of the other player.
  • Connection games, like hex, twixt, or Y.
  • Clobber. Played on an NxM checkerboard (N and M cannot be both odd). Initially, all white squares are filled with white stones; all black squares with black stones. One player plays the white stones, the other the black. Players alternate moves. A move consist of taking one of your stones and moving it horizontally or vertically one square to a square occupied by a stone of your opponent. The opponents stone is removed. First player who cannot move loses.

Let's do some more "critical" game requests ;)

- Small Froglet (8x8) (for quiker frog games) (please make a frog section)

- Large Froglet (16x16) (I like frogs!)

- Large Attax (9x9) (makes a build up possible)

- Very Small Espionage (6x6) (even small takes too long!)

- Small Battleboats (6x6) (we just need another boat game!, of course, remove some ships to have same odds ( just only the 2 boat en the two 3 boats))

- A BB variant where you can choose among a number of ships. As long as all players have the same number of squares covered with ships. Think about 2x2 ships, 6x1, 3x2, more 1x2 etc. Just select any number at least one big ship (big ships allow to take very small ships) and others till you have 17 points covered (in normal BB game)

- A Frog Finder variant without shooting. This time there are way more frogs (say, 31) in the field and if a players guesses a field, the square becomes uncovered. If the square is a frog, it reveals and the player scores. If it is a number, it reveals, but if its a zero, all squares next to that square are revealed. All zeros again will uncover the squares next to them. If you can recognise the rules, yes, these are the rules for the MSN play-for-two Minesweeper.

Anyone for more ideas?

For instance, the fanclub version of pysol includes Mah-Jong graphics, which are distributed under the GNU license. This means that Fencer can freely use them - the license would only mandate Fencer to do something if he was going to distribute the code of BK.

MadMonkey: I agree, that would be very nice.

I'd like it to go a step further and add something else besides PMs to be used for fellowship owners to notify their members of tournaments, ponds, etc. I don't see why these notices should be mixed with personal messages.

I get dozens of fellowship mass messages per day, most of which are simply tournament notices that I'm not interested in. Seems to me like a separate mechanism for this would make things a lot easier. Maybe a simple "new fellowship tournaments" section in the sidebar. Something that could be easily ignored if you're not interested.

Of course, maybe I'm just in too many fellowships. I don't think I've turned down an invitation yet. I didn't see any reason to at the time, but the waves of unwanted messages I get are really becoming a bother, so I'm probably going to leave most of the fellowships soon. I think that's unfortunate.

grenv: With the dice poker games being a popular game on this site, I would love to see my idea of Bankroll Dice Poker (and Triple Bankroll Dice Poker)

Bankroll Dice Poker - You start the game out with a bankroll of 26 rolls (78 for triple version). So you can use more then the normal 2 extra rolls for each round if you need to - but will run out by the end of the game - or use 0 or 1 roll to have extra rolls later on in the game. So if you REALLY need 5 in a row to catch up and have plenty of rolls left, you can roll extra times to try to get it. (I'm debating if it should be 26/78 - or add an extra 5 rolls to each to make the starting bankroll of 31/83 rolls for each game.)

It would give the game a little more "skill" since you now have to decide how many rolls to waste on each turn... that is if you already have four 5's, do you keep wasting rolls to try to get the 5-of-a-kind, or save the rolls for other things.

Ceiter: I would like to add to that a long outstanding request (which I have solved using my own .ccs file but not very pretty) - and that is have the option to have a submit button ABOVE the game board.

Most games I play, I play and then hit submit. Would be nice to be able to quickly do that without having to scroll down to find the submit button.

(and in addition to having a submit button above the game board, keep one in it's current place by the notes & chat box so if I do need to leave a message, I can scroll down - do so - and still hit submit like normal.)

Subject: "Show move buttons directly below game boards"
I'm not sure if this should be a bug report or feature request, so I'm putting it here and I'll let others decide if this is the way it's supposed to work.

I was just looking at the settings page and saw an option called "Show move buttons directly below game boards". I had it checked (must've done it years ago and forgot the option existed). But it still does not show the move buttons directly below the game boards, which is what I'd really like. It goes game board > Player names/ranks/info > chat box > note box > move buttons. That's quite a lot between the board and the move buttons, and it means that I always need to scroll to finalize my move.

The only difference the option seems to make is that it moves the game info block (that says the game type, tournament, time settings, etc) below the move buttons. That's an improvement, but it's still not "directly below game boards".

If this is the way it's supposed to behave, I'd like to request renaming the option to be more clear and adding a new option to put the buttons DIRECTLY below the game boards. If this is not the way it's intended to behave, then I guess this should be a bug report.

Hey Andrzej,

Based on my experience of just one game, I think the strategic twist is interesting. I think (possibly) once one player is a solid pawn up, he can, with accurate play, ensure victory. This is true of chess, but even more so with pawn power chess because of the pawns' incremental values. Therefore the opening sequence and exchanges become crucial and the endgame less so (if it even occurs).

In some ways it is the opposite of three checks chess; instead of sacs its rewards cautious positional play. There is no doubt that it 'works' as a chess variant. Maybe we can experiment with the points system and see how that affects strategy.

Thanks for the games. It has been an enlightening few days!

All the best

Currently, we have "random game" tournaments. The creator of the tournaments selects one or more games, and for each game between participants, a game will be randomly picked from the selected games.

I'd like to propose a variant. Instead of randomly pick a game, a match consisting of all selected games is played. For instance, one may create a "monster tournament" with "Reversi", "Reversi 6x6", "Reversi 10x10" and "Anti Reversi" as the games. All players in the same section would play 4 games against each other - all the reversi variants. You'd score 0 - 4 points (so, if it's a five player section, you could score up to 20 points). All games would start at once (otherwise, tournaments would never get finished).

Just don't sign up for a 20 player/section, 125 game "monster tournament", unless you can handle 2375 new games. ;-)

AbigailII: I think one of the goals of an online game site is to make the games as much like real life game play... when possible.

I think it would be better if people could not figure out what pieces they could move by just hoovering their mouse.

But that would probable be a pain to program - and a good "medium" is just to keep that how it is now. (in my opinion.

About automatically moving a piece when it has only one available move - I think this is OK since you are already clicking on the piece to move it, and like Chess - you have to move the piece to block a check (for example), so no matter what piece you click, if it can only go to one place to save the king - then that is a good time saver in my opinion.

Sure, someone can go through and click every piece and learn where it might go and what might work best - not anything like what would happen in real life game - but (again, my opinion) - a good middle ground is how it works now.

Furthermore, should Brainking make all pieces clickable, regardless whether they can actually be moved, to prevent someone finding out he has more moves available by either hoovering with the mouse, or by using the tab key to cycle over the clickable pieces?

AbigailII: I think Thad makes a good point.

For example, I was playing the Camelot recently - and all I seen was a forced jump that was bad for me - so as I moved my mouse to make the move, I noticed that I could also click on a knight to move it - which after a few jumps of my own pieces, was able to make a better move.

Now that is a rare thing for me to do - normally I would see only the 1 move and make it.

If the system was to make all "forced" moves right away, I would quickly learn that if the system did not make a move for me, then I MUST have multiple moves that I could make, and would help me in my games.

=======

Of course in "passing" situations where the person has 0 moves, I agree 100% that an autopass in those games would be very helpful.

Vikings: Well, all 'information' such a button (which would probably never materialize) would reveal is "you only have one move available', or, in its absence, 'you have more than one move available'. It's not going to reveal anything about opponents pieces, or whether you have more than two moves available.

Not that I think it harms the opponent to show a player the list of available moves. A determined player can already find out all moves he/she can play; first by hoovering over his/her pieces (to see which pieces can be moved), then by clicking all moveable pieces and see which fields are clickable (destination squares for the pieces).
