There is an undefeated 26-0-0 player on GoldToken who just beat me in 8 moves (no big deal) and I have a rematch where I'm going to play white single corner defense. He seems awesome but I don't see him on BK yet. And he hasn't played the likes of SOCRATES or Ustica. He will bear watching. :)

Salkkuman: I know on IYT you had to contact the the owner to get a draw declared but then they put in the software that drew the game after 6 repetitive moves by both players. That may have changed. Goldtoken you still have to contact the site owner but she will act. Here I don't know. Each site does it's own thing regardless of the rules.

Socrates: I woke up this morning to find 30 points stripped from my BKR (I didn't lose any games or anything) and so I don't qualify for your championship tournament. I liked the old ratings better. LOL.

Socrates: There is no avoiding them because if you have an open spot anyone can challenge you. I have run across a few people who can beat programs (with their bare hands..LOL) such as Richard Fortman, Clint Olsen and Ustica. There is a better chance in Pro-checkers (3 move openning) I believe but it is never easy.

Socrates: At least 10 of the top 20 there can beat me like a drum. It's timing and luck on that ladder. The Maggot is an awesome player and he is way down. I'm in a tough game with Lost Soul now..starting in October I hope to be playing a whole lot more games.

fungame: Had it been an isolated incident I am sure Fencer would not have taken the decision he did. It was part of a ban on all public boards. Insofar as the discussion is limited to checkers everyone is welcome to post here. But this is not the forum to disparage other people no matter how much technical checker information is interspersed. Anyway Fencer decided on the ban..my post merely re-directed ET.

gooner: No. Against all advice I took Ed off of ban and wrote "one more chance" in the board history for the Global Mods to review. It was a very gratuitous attack on another member and not the first time. It is out of my hands. This board must be for checkers discussions and not expanded to serve anyone's private agenda. This is for everybody.

Jumper: I understand your feelings but the checker board needs to be limited to discussion about checkers. I hope Fencer and Ed come to an understanding but that cause would not be furthered here as Ed has too many antagonists and a flame war would develop. Sorry.

Stardust and 3334 are having a game on Goldtoken that began in 2001. They both play here on BK..but that game stands at 3/3 and makes for a remarkable factoid. Does anyone know of a longer internet checker game?

Grim Reaper: What seems bizzare to me is that in head to head meetings that someone who has beaten Alex the world's champion and has thousands of dollars worth of program equipment can do no better than draw Ustica..then not only looks for excuses but questions the integrity of other players. You are not discussing checkers but people's character. So please stick to checkers.

John Baker: Also Pinchito is under no obligation to explain any moves he makes or doesn't make. I don't even know if he speaks English. He beat me..no big deal..but he lost to Ruffian. Who the heck is Ruffian? Again, completed game analysis is welcome..you can even say someone made a dumb move as long as no one implies that the person is dumb or that they are being dishonest. This is not rocket science. For all the "genius" claimed by some people the stark fact remains..they can't beat Ustica.

It is down to Pinchitos30, Ustica and Grim Reaper. When you consider the excellent players who didn't get to this round it is quite and achievement for these three. Good luck to you and I'm sure many of us will be watching the games with interest.

Subject: Re:
BIG BAD WOLF: Yes this is true but they have 3 sets of confusing ratings which are only available to the paying members..a miniscule segment of the site. There is the ladder ratings, the rating including provisionals, the ratings including friendly games and the best player ratings. Some have not been updated since the 18 months I played on the ladders. The site owner considers ratings unimportant and checkers even more so. I now play there under my name Purple and regardless of how many friendly games I win or lose my ranking remains the same..of course since I don't pay I can't participate in the ladders.
