I was wondering what your plan is for the greyed out search function. I have a suggestion, if this isn't what you are already planning. I would like to be able to type in the game number of a game and hit search andh ave theg ame load. That way when someone says "check out this great game of pente that I played" I can easily do so.

Subject: Re: re: Winner of a tournament
I think not only should each game type have a separate list of tmt. winners, but after many of them an exclusive list should be initiated showing the most prolific winners in each game type, and maybe one including ALL tmts. It doesn't seem like it would be that hard to arrange.... I made a similar proposal to IYT some time ago, but (as usual) they ignored it

Well I was getting ready to write what tournament(s) I win in my profile.... but if there was a list in our profile of tournament wins, that would be nice.. (and save me time in editing my profile) :-)

Currently I don't think anything happens of special when you win a tournament - unless you go search the finished tournaments, you name is now in yellow! :-)

Good point BBW, what does happen if we win a Tournament (not that i will lol), does something show in our profile or anywhere ??
Would be nice if it could be shown somewhere, maybe a seperate board 'hall of Fame' ?? who knows :)

I found the "finished tournament" that I was in on the bottom of the Tournament list page.

When I went to my profile, and choose only to look at "finished" tournaments, Nothing shows up.

Just thought I would mention it so you can look at it when you have some time!

I think it would be nice if the winner of a tournament to get a message saying "congrates on winning" or something".

Why I say that is I usually just play games, and I don't really pay attention on how I'm doing in the tournament. As I look through some of the past tournament, I noticed I won one of them - Cool! I can see how I could have missed this if I did not go searching.... and will get worse as more tournaments finish and the list gets longer and longer.

Just an idea... thanks, and keep up the good work!

Any way to possibly do the invitation games like the message page… meaning instead of having to accept each or decline each, then move on to the next… there could be a checkbox beside each invite that you could check off and then click either accept or decline? Would save the hassel of having to do one at a time.

Just a suggestion.

Dmitri and Kevin: IYT`s version of go-moku (13x13 board and 2nd player wins in case of a draw) are NOT real go-moku rules.

15x15 is the real size and a draw is a draw.

Having said that I must add that those changes do make the game better and even somewhat suitable for advanced players. They do that by taking away some of the 1st player`s advantage. Most importantly they make it impossible to use some of the sure win combinations.

But the 1st player`s advantage is still very big even with those rules.

PRO-gomoku has the same 2nd move restriction as Pente. That restriction evens up the game much more than those IYT rules. I remember Gary Barnes saying that in Pente (with the restriction) 1st player still wins in about 80% (?) of the games between good players. The similar is true with pro-gomoku. This is in great contrast to sure win (on a 15x15 board).

So that restriction is very important in go-moku too. Probably even more important than in Pente (I have never heard of Pente being a SURE win without the restriction (?) ).

So it really is pro-gomoku that we need to have here...and Fencer already has it on his TODO list.

And I hope Renju is there also. (?)

There's actually 2 other differences as well.
1. In go-moku, over lines (6 or more) do not count. In Five in Line here they do count.
2. In go-moku, it is a win for player 2 when the board fills up. Here it is a draw. (Although the board filling up is very rare anyways).

<Here I see Pente and Keryo-pente but I don't see Go-Moku!!

Five in Line is different then Go-Moku...very different because....
on Five in Line you place your pieace in the square grid which is not---> go moku. Go-Moku pieace is on the grid line like the game Pente and Keryo-Pente. So we have pente and keryo....where's the go-moku???? Five in Line is ok but it's not the classic(go-moku). Let me know when you are adding this Go-Moku on your Features' List. :o)

Big Bad Wolf: About logging out, the problem is that this process requires the database access to store the logout event. But I can add a possibility to logout from "upgrade" page by a simple "delete the login cookie" script. Added to my TODO list. About Favourite Boards and Fellowships, would it help if I add an option to hide these lists from the right column?

Subject: Couple of suggestion
First: I play games from a fast public computer part of the day - which I always Logout before I leave the computer. Earlier today when I got ready to leave, I ran into a problem - the site was temporarly down for an "upgrade". So that left me with 2 things I could do: (1) wait for who knows how long until the site comes back up so I can "logout" or (2) leave myself logged in and hope no one gets in there and messes things up.

I'm not sure if it is possible, maybe something you (Fencer) can think about - but possible being able to logout while the site is down for upgrades? I was lucky that I had an extra 5 minutes to wait and logout, but sometimes I do not have the extra time to wait.

Second Suggestion:

I really like having a list of Favourite Boards and a list of the Fellowships that I belong to on my main page..... but I find it king of wasting space to have both the Fellowship & the Fellowship board listed. Would there be a way to "combine" the two - that is in the list of Fellowships thats on the right of my screen, put the (2 new) message there instead of having to place the board in my favourite just to find out there are new post there.

Subject: unification of boards.
Fencer, Blazinshore had an idea that he wished to be expressed on this board. This idea is to merge the Pente and Keryo pente message boards into one board. The two are so similar that one board shold suffice for the two games, and this would prevent the need to double post when there is a matter affecting both boards.

It was also suggested that the go moku board also be part of this merger, becasue of its similarities to pente.

It probably couldn't hurt, but still, I think the go-moku message board should remain separate, just because the play and strategy are so different.

Subject: Waiting Games
There seems to be a large repition of games listed in the "Waiting Games" section. Since it is now easier to create multiple instances of a single game (whether it be all the same color or of alternating colors), there seems to be a lot more games listed now.

My suggestion is to collapse similar games into a single line and specify how many of that type is available as the first column. For instance, we might see the following:

GAME EVENT OPPONENT COLOR TIME
Line4 Normal_game eddie_spaghetti white 7_days
Line4 Normal_game eddie_spaghetti black 7_days
Line4 Normal_game eddie_spaghetti white 7_days
Line4 Normal_game eddie_spaghetti black 7_days
Line4 Normal_game eddie_spaghetti black 7_days
Line4 Normal_game eddie_spaghetti black 7_days

I propose that it should look like the following:

# GAME EVENT OPPONENT COLOR TIME
2 Line4 Normal_game eddie_spaghetti white 7_days
4 Line4 Normal_game eddie_spaghetti black 7_days

In addition to that, when you click on one of those games and taken to the "Game Invitation" page, you should have an additional option that allows you to choose how many of the games of that type you would like to accept. So, if there were 4 games with the black color available, you should be able to choose whether you want to accept 1, 2, 3 or 4 of those games.

Thinking even further down the road, I guess when you are creating these games to begin with and you specify you want 10 games of that type created, you should have an option that says "[x] Allow people to accept more than 1 game at a time?" to prevent people from accepting more than one game if you want to play lots of people...

Anyways, just thinking about things... Maybe it is worth putting on your TODO list? I know you must have a lot there already :)

Subject: New Games
As a general comment / suggestion - I would love to see more games here that is not found on ItsYourTurn (Other then Battleboats... I would love to see that here!)

But as I look at the features in development - I'm very interested in Jungle because 1) I never played it 2) I don't know what it is 3) I have not seen it on other sites.

One of the reasons I like Littlegolem.net is because they have a few games that are not on other sites - like DVONN, Hex, Word Game, and Twist.

So as a general request - I would love to see new and different games here. (plus Battleboats!) :-)

The reason is that if you simply want to see the discussion on one subject, in the thread system it is easier to find all the relevant messages.

In the current system you must browse through many irrelevant messages, and this takes time that could be better used playing games:-)
