I'm not sure if it'd be possible but perhaps for example, i wanted to have 35 games on backgammon on waiting games, instead of showing all 35 have the 35 in brackets eg furbster; backgammon; (35) and allow the person to choose how many games they would like, that way there wouldn't be a massive long list of the same game.

As far as that goes...Absolutely. In fact, I would like to see the following stats ona person's profile AND on the screen to accept a game invite:

1: How many deleted vs. accepted games (per game type).

2: How many timed out games vs. played (also, per game type).

As membership increases so will the number of waiting games. Whether those games are posted by one or many members is irrelevent, obviously there should be no suggestion that they be deleted.

So far, Fencer has not limited the number of waiting games some can have. Therefore, I feel it would be quite inappropriate to accept the games and then delete them. We just need a way to quickly find the games that do interest us.

I think its a bit silly to take his games and delete them. i have put about 100 up before, in order to gain a few more games to play, as i've had nowhere near enough as i'd of liked. And as someone said earlier he is a paying member who should be able to play as many games as he likes

Subject: online opponents page
i use this page too , but i usually never have a page open just for that , on the occasions i do i just hit refresh on my browser .

another way i could see this working better is to put it at the top of the page (where the next 30 games are next to play) this way you could just hover over the right spot and see which oppenents are online without having to open another page ..
ps i never use that function to play my games but i would use it to see which opponents are online

MidnightMcMedic: I don't think it would work on DB's. Just imagine someone with 100 posts per page, trying to keep up with a 3 min refresh, after returning from vacation and trying to read the 76 new posts on his/her favourite DB... It would be a nightmare :)

But I like the idea for the online opponents page... it's the page I hang around most of the time waiting for my opponents to play.

Since you ask, no. In fact, I don't find it helpful for the existing pages - and I turn it off. Automatic refresh gives the impression I'm active when I'm not.

MidnightMcMedic: How about returning to my issue? I got a comment from Bry, nobody else (including Fencer) commented on my proposal to add automatic refresh to the Online Opponents page. Are there other users out there who would find it helpful to have automatic refresh on other pages besides the games pages and the main page? Since I don't know how your code is organized, Fencer, I don't know what would be involved. Would this be a difficult change, or do you just have to add a page code to table somewhere?

nobleheart: One of the things I like about BK is the fact that it has no limits on games (if I was a rook that is). Don't try to take it away... Especially since there are times when there are so few games available to choose from (wait till August and you'll see ;) )

The best thing I think is improving (creating?) some filter funcions on the waiting game page.
Or accepting multiple invitations in one step - people would only need to waddle through the whole list one time for a while, instead of having to come back to that page

...with someone who makes a ridiculoous number of games.would be to set a rule that you can only make X number of games per day.

Fencer, Thanks.

wayney, try removing him from blocked list then adding him back.

cariad, I understand where you are coming from. It would be unfair for fencer to remove the extra game invites. But, since I am not going to accept any, I don't see it unfair for me to have a way to "Not see them".

I'd like a search box for Big Bosses to find members in fellowships. So if we wanted to make someone a manager we wouldn't have to scroll through lists of members looking for the right person. As more members join BK, fellowships are getting bigger.

Could "waiting games" have a filter as "tournaments" has? So if anyone wants to search for Five in line games he doesnt need to scroll all the games...(615 right now)..I know,,the games are in alpha order but i think it would be easier with a filter anyway.

22. March 2005, 14:03:36

Subject: Blocked Users and Waiting games
Since someone (MJL) has way too many games in "Waiting Games", I added them to my "Blocked Users" list in hopes that they wouldn't show up in the Waiting Games. Unfortunately, they still do.

Could the Waiting Games section exclude those members that are on our Blocked Users list?

Bry: Well, certainly I know how to use the refresh button. But I could argue that the refresh function is not required on the main page either, because the browser refresh button could be used there. But it has been supplied for convenience, so that the user doesn't have to manually do the repetitive task of pushing the button. I merely suggest that the Online Opponents page is another place where this automatic refresh would make sense, since it seems to be a popular page among users.
