Although - i do agree it would be a great feature change.

I could probably field 2 teams in the up and coming Backgammon Tournament from one of my fellowships.

Is there anyway you can make it so 2 teams can be entered as seperate teams from the same fellowship? - like an "A" team and a "B" team ??

(and before the current ones start?)

please, please, please...

BG: Yes, you may be right. I think there are pro's and con's. You either join them or you dont - time for people to stop moaning about it when a link is posted.

We've had the discussions on time limits and sportsmanship many times already so perhapos this should be the last post on the subject.

Subject: Re:
baddessi:

The reality is most people move every day. Yes there are some players who use more of the time, but if you have a number of games going, you can cope with one or two not moving very fast.

I remember a few weeks back, Chessmaster 1000 had real problems getting online and timed-out in quite a high number of games. If these games would have had a higher time limit, they would not have timed out. Having a higher time limit would not have affected how often CM1000 moved, and more often than not the opponents too.

I move usually every day - the only reason I choose 21 days for my tournaments is so that, should I have any problems with access, I know my games will not time out, BUT it doesn't stop me making moves on the games every day, nor many many others.

Subject: Re:
eagle eye / Gemini J: Correct. The next round will not start until all games have been completed, even if both sections have outright winners already. That's the way it has always been.

If you are in the tournament and will not win it, and therefore will not progress to the next round, if you ask Fencer nicely - and copy the link to the tournament, he will sometimes be able to "release" you from it so you can enter another tournament.

The other alternative, is to purchase a "Rook" membership, where everything is unlimited. You will not be disappointed with the facilities a "Rook" membership has to offer - and no more "waiting" for tournaments to finish.... ;)

Pioneer54: The 5 moderators are not online, but 2 GM's are.

The posts are "on topic" as such as they are regarding moves made in tournaments.

If you seriously expect such posts to be moderated, where do we stop? You cant please anyone. If the posts were un suitable, BBW, as a GM and the brunt of the conversation, is big enough and bad enough (excuse the pun!) to take the matter elsewhere or put an end to it. Plus Purple is correct.

I read reams and reams of posts cluttered with comments i dont care for, but that's life, it's a discussion board.

Just my opinion.

Perhaps similar to the Waiting Games page?

Czuch : Most people "really" do not need 21 days, and most people move every day.

It's 21 days because that is "my" choice. There's no need to make issue over the length of the time limit.

If you do not want to join, fine. It will not make any difference. It will still be started.

THE HIT MAN: but that's not bad conduct - that is the site rules. Every user, depending on their membership are allowed to use vacation days, either set or auto, to their hearts content.

Nothingness: I dont think so. The only way round it to to pay that litle bit extra for a Rook Membership - that way you have no restrictions.

I understand some people may be unable to stretch that little bit further for a Rook Membership - alternatively I would suggest only enter tournaments with a 1 day time limit?

THE HIT MAN: right, now we understand what you mean by "Bad Conduct".

My opinion - I would just ignore them. They have as much right to play in the tournament as anyone else. However, if the comments are much more are rude, threatening and very personal etc, then I suppose it should be brought to the attention of Fencer privately either directly or through the GM's.

Just my opinion.

THE HIT MAN: No, bad or poor conduct are the same thing. What I am saying, is that you are asking for feelings on "Bad Conduct" in tournaments. What is happening that you are suggesting is "Bad Conduct"?

It depends what the "Bad Conduct" is.

Subject: Re: ?
THE HIT MAN: not 100% sure, but i think if only 2 players make it to the final round, it is a 3 wins match. if more than 2 players make it to the final round, more than one player can win, and if there is a draw, they both win and those two do not then go into a 3 match game.

I recall this being discussed on BK.Com I think if you check through the thread.

If i'm wrong, please can someone else confirm. Cheers.

THE HIT MAN: do you mean when someone wins a tournament you have created? if so, an automatic message is created and sent to the winner and the creator of the tournament, which are sent from "Fencers" outbox.

Subject: Re: 1
THE HIT MAN: If a tournament is set at say 1500BKR and below to sign up, a player can only sign up who is 1500 and below. However if that tournament starts weeks later, and that player has moved to 2000, they will still be included. It's up to the creator of the tournament to remove anyone from the tournament before it starts if they are over 1500.

In addition, if you let unrated players sign up, after 4 completed games they may also be over 1500 BKR.

I think that explains it.
