Why do you keep deleting UNIVERSAL EYES and my Father MASTERMIND from the Tournament.I think i deserve an explanation,I will send Rose the Money ahead of time to create the biggest Prize Tournament on BK AND WILL MAKE SURE THERE IS NO DONATIONS FOR THE TOURNAMENT,Because as i explained it will be paid for by me in advance,regard less how many People join it will be a Garanted Prize.Money up front to Fencer,that is how you help the best Game site on the net.I deserve an explanation,and am waiting for it!!!

LJ: 2 years ROOK membership is a very generous prize to donate, BUT a couple of questions.

You have it set the tourny for a minimum of 16, but state it will only be a Prize tourny if you get 200 plus players, then it will return to a normal tourny. Personally i think that the only reason there are 71 at present is because it is such a good prize, and alot would lose interest if it was only a normal one (being 2 games switched as well). Players need more time, as there is so much going on at present.

Also you have set it for closing date March 31st.
You are on vacation at the end of March and all of April.
Is there a reason for March 31st ??
Why not give players (pawns & Knights) that extra time (a month) to make room to join ??

Note: There is a chance that BK 2.0 may be ready by then, in which case Fencer will of course inform everyone and all Tournaments will have to be started a.s.a.p.

Longjohn It has been asked many times. Why are you taking certain players out of the tourney? Do you have your favs or dont want high rated players or what? You've taken out lots of ppl with no explanation as to why you are doing this.

I did not mention there was anything wrong with it at all LJ, i asked a couple of questions.

For this i have been put on LJ's enemy list (like i am worried) AND i have removed myself from your tournament LJ.
The way i see it Rose is LJ has no intention of giving the prize or running it as a prize tournament, why else keep removing people who want to play ?
He will not let it get anywhere near 200, not that it has a hope the way its going LOL.

As for BK 2.0, i wont comment on it :o)

long john ... as i belive its not a nice thing to do , to use your position as tournament creator to remove people you dont seem to like for one reason or another ....i have removed myself from your tournament . another reason for this is the fact that you have edited the description WHICH I THINK SHOULD NOT HAPPEN ..

WELL AS I BELIEVE ONCE ITS A PRIZE ONE IT SHOULD STAY A PRIZE ONE , NOT TO DECIDE AT A LATER DATE TO CHANGE THE RULES

16. March 2004, 17:22:13
coan.net
... but I also agree with you Jason that such an IMPORTANT edit to the tournament description is wrong - not this late into the tournament.

There are probable already knights & pawns entered in the tournament, and now that they are signed up will not look at the description again. Then there are going to be stuck in a long tournament (2 games per player) without the prize they thought would be there.

LJ NO IDEA why you refer to someone as my HUBBY as My husband does not play here AND FYI To anyone I never DID JOIN YOUR TOURNEY AND NEVER WANTED TO. it isnt ME you are deleting its other innocents.
If you even understood the question put to you, you wouldnt have said I was trying to cause trouble. PUT in your tourneys that it is for certain ppl only. DONT let people think it is an open tourney when it clearly isnt. IT is a tourney put on by you for a select group only. Perhaps your reasoning is you dont want certain ppl to win and get the membership. Be more specific on your tourneys but by removing innocent ppl you are only making your self look worse then you already do the a vast majority of the site now.

I hope I don't offend anyone with my decision to remove LJ from this tournament. I'm really bothered by what I've read below with people being removed from his tournament. It might seem inconsistent then that I've removed him from mine but, I tried to PM him about my concerns and see that I am on his enemy's list. Odd. I've not said anything to him to warrent that. So, since he has prevented me from discussing this with him, and since there are some who have entered my tournament with whom he has ongoing issues, I have to question his motive in entering the tournament in the first place. Therefore in the interest of others and in the interest of keeping this tournament fun for all, I have removed him. I hope in doing so, and by stating my reasons, I have not offended anyone.

Bumble, if this post is innappropriate for this forum, let me know and I'll delete it. But I wanted others to know what I did so there can be no spin on my motives.

but... My take is this. MadMonkey hit it on the head with 'no intentions of offering prize', and when the roar came to drop out, it was started before the snowball hit. (I knew it was no longer up for signup before his post, as I had just gone to remove myself. A wasted effort, it appears, as I seem to have been among those spared the need -- probably because I'm 'just too slow') Now those pawns and knights previously mentioned are henceforth stuck, with the only means of removal being Fencer. Whether or not in the end he decides to do so, Fencer really doesn't have time for all that, so the utlimate goal of harm to the site has been reached, regardless.

Not by me, Bernice. I haven't deleted anything for a while. A quick look at the posts here and it seems to me that there's nothing that needs deleting.
Some of you have a problem with one of LongJohn's tournaments.
The fact remains, whatever the morality of the situation, it is LongJohn's tournament - he is the creator and can control it as he likes.

AD: it's not necessary to remove your post. :-)

*** i was going to edit/delete this and decided against it because i believe (maybe wrongly)that this is absolutely ON TOPIC*** and should be addressed by management:)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
you say they are (his) tournaments...of course they are....
but to offer prizes, get people in under false pretenses and then launch it with no offer of a prize is surely unethical.
4 tournaments that I know of have offered prizes and if you look at them running or whatever you wont see too much...
(1) backgammon race - prize offered 50 brains
(2) backgammon 6 months membership
(3) backgammon THE LARGEST PRIZE etc etc
(4) the $10,000 that never got past the first day
this is false advertising and very unethical, and should be controlled.....
When prizes are offered (by ANYONE) they should be paid up front before the tournament is even opened to the public....that way people can see that it is genuine.
This is happeneing far too much on here and it is giving a bad name on other game sites...all are talking :(
Subject: Re: Can some1 tell me pls?
yes he has started it also changed the time limit to 30 days .
now the problem is that there may be some people who went into this tournament because of the (SUPPOZED) two year rook membership offerd . now the re are people stuck in there without anything offerd in a tournament that will last forever . .......
if there are some of you stuck in the tournament (pawns or nights ) and would like to go into lindas tournament message me and im willing to pay a few of you in .. just delete your games in that tournament before you do any moves and your ratings wont be affected ....
BY THE WAY THIS IS A GENUINE OFFER TO ANY ONE THAT HAS BEEN AFFECTED by the running of this so called tournament . (obvoisly i will have to limit the amount of people i can pay for)
Subject: Prize Tournaments
I think something has to be done about the posting of Prize tournaments.
That is 2 tournaments in 1 week that have been advertised as offering prizes and deleted.
One of the tournaments by GI offering a large ammount money, but had no one sign up, AND also LJ's 2 year Rook membership one, which was causing enough problems anyway as it was intended to do (mainly for pawns & Knights).
My thoughts are that if someone wants to organise a Prize one they should write to Fencer first to get permission OR when a Prize tounament is set (by ticking the box in the set up page) then that tournament should have to approved by Fencer before it will post (could be incorperated in BK 2.0).
Until this situation is sorted i suggest removing the Prize box from the set up page. This way, only Fencer himself can make it show as a Prize tournament by manually hi-lighting it himself, after being asked to do so. I can not see many more being set at the moment anyway and hopefully a better solution can be found in the future and stop all this hassle.
Fencer has stated that the only official BK Prize tournaments will be created by himself anyway (or have his backing).
Jason, you can't delete tournament games, but pawns can still enter Linda's tourney even if they're in others. All they need to do is message Linda and say they want to join.
