At this time of the year, the ancient North Europeans would be watching for the first frosts and signs of an imminent winter. They would herd their animals back to their farmstead, sacrifice some of them, and have a huge feast called Winter Nights. We can imagine them settling down to a leisurely game or two of Tafl over the coming days as the snows threatened. Let's emulate them and settle down to a big feast of Tablut!
