WHOA! I just found that I get a white page too, when I use
www.brainking.com
but not if I use
brainking.com

all is fine when I drop the "www." Now that makes no sense? Try it.

cd power: well I *don't* clear the cache, neither automatically nor manually, and I don't have issues. So I think it's not the cache.
What I sometimes see is delays in DNS resolving or in the hops - to verify that, open a CMD window (Start/Run/ type 'CMD'), and enter there "tracert www.brainking.com". You can then see which servers you hop along until you get there. If the shown delays in milliseconds suddenly jump up, you see the server that is the issue. (nothing you can do about it though).
Also, try to connect to http://81.91.83.6 (the server IP from the last line in the list - type/copy it in your browser) instead to www.brainking.com. This avoids speed issues with your DNS, which are quite common. The only disadvantage is that when Fencer moves the server, the number becomes invalid

Hrqls: I agree with you... I do the same thing. I'm in the USA, and have never experienced these sorts of problems. Occasionally, the site may run a little bit slow at times, but nothing that prevents me from making my moves. I used to have all kinds of problems when I wasn't clearing the cache, but now that it is set up automatically to clear the cache, I don't have issues.

crosseyed: i have never have problems with this site, i am in the netherlands, using both old and new equipment, using various types of browser (internet explorer, firefox, opera), on pc or laptop or android phone

one thing which might be different on my systems than the default systems is that i dont keep my history or cache (except on my phone) .. maybe a large history or old cached files can cause problems ?

As I tried posting this message the white page came up for several seconds and I clicked on fresh and nothing happened. I had to leave the site and when I came back this message had posted twice.

It seems entirely possible that a 10-wins match with a high probability of ending in a draw could reach that many games. But then again, who'd want to play 230+ draws out of 255 games!

Aganju: In Brainking's defense, I'd think "no one will play a match with more than 255 games" was a reasonable programming assumption... You'd need double server capacity to store the games on a 2-byte counter right?

Wow, it looks like you can't play a match that's longer than 255 games. Our match just disappeared from the main page without any warning or message or anything after game #255. Open Pente (Thad vs. JackS)

Energizer: I love progressive, and play a strong game. Would recommend adding a Fischer Random option for it, as (IMO) the standard variant's openings are deeply analyzed, and don't offer much opportunity for original analysis.

Progressive chess is a chess variant in which players, rather than just making one move per turn, play progressively longer series of moves. The game starts with White making one move, then Black makes two consecutive moves, White replies with three, Black makes four and so on. Progressive chess can be combined with other variants; for example, when circe is played as a game, it is usually progressively. Progressive chess is considered particularly apt for playing correspondence chess using mail or some other slow medium, because of the relatively small number of moves in a typical game.
What about making Progressive Chess on the Brainking...

Roberto Silva: Stats can be misleading. loop chess has a significant advantage to the player with the inititive (white). Never the less it is far from a forced win and a stronger black player can neutralise the advantage and go on to win.
