Does anybody know the sequence of moves that leads to this devastating finish? It is part of published play but I can not find the page.

Smother Wilther? Published? You actually read? No wonder my game is bad. About Smother Wilther, I had a doll who answered to that name. I didn't speak too plainly in those days so it just sounded that way to everyone. I've forgotten her real name. Sorry.

LOL. Never claimed to read. But no modesty Espie. WAY UP on the IYT Ladder. We have played 150 games. She won 50, me 50, and 50 draws. She is one part mercy, one part apathy and one part sudden death. :)

Subject: Re: Smother Wilther
You inadvertantly transposed the "She won 50" numbers. The numbers for "She" are 05. Hmm, what you have seen as mercy is probably just incompetence when I failed to make the best move. Apathy is probably descriptive of my lack of proper study, but apathy...well, I don't care. :o)

Whew, with all that to choose from you'd think I could find an opening that would fit my style of play. Alas, haven't really discovered what my style of play is. Anyway, I want something that fits. A woman can't step in front of a mirror without a good fit.

I may be drawn to the Single Corner because as a child I too often was placed in a little chair facing the corner and make to sit there until I learned proper conduct or language. Instead, there in the single corner I plotted how to defeat all life's future opponents for their unfair treatment of me. Maybe if I had been allowed to take my doll, Smother Wilther, with me into the corner I would be a different player today!

Espie isn't it sufficient that you teach me humility on the checker board? Our latest game on GT was a massacar where my checkers jumped off the board like popcorn in a microwave. At least give me the satisfaction of being able to pick on a peace loving young lady.

This is simply a reminder to those who are participating.

The tournament will start later this weekend & please remember that all participants have agreed to play each side of the following opening in all games, through all rounds:

9-13 22-18 10-14

This is known as THE INFERNO opening, a very difficult one which has only been recently approved by the ACF for the 3-Move Restriction Deck, after extensive testing via Mail-Play.

If there is any confusion remaining about which move or moves to make to begin your games (to ensure The Inferno is being played), please contact me or Nomad & we'll do our best to set you on the right track.

I wish you all great gaming & sportsmanship in the tournament. :o)

I agree Ed. I was just trying please the masses. Its a minority of people who have actually played 3-move checkers. Its a shame it isn't incorperated into the site like IYT.

Gothic, we do have a small tournament going now (The Immortals 3-Move Invitational), in which all players have agreed to play the Inferno opening. I agree that more of the same is desirable. Fencer did say that he plans on implementing some kind of 3-move alternative here, though I don't know the specifics or the time-table.

Most humans would walk into those losses with the depth of those openings.
