puupia: The drumming is actually fairly true to the original. The "cool jazz" sound slides the lyrics past anyone other than those familiar with the original

Tuesday: I really liked that Baker Street version also.

When bands apply their own unique sound to whatever song they are covering the result often is quite nice. Here's a great example of that

Tuesday: Some do originals justice, but I find it very rare.Back in the 80's I was a club dj, the bar was located right across the street from Triumph's Metal Works recording studio. One night Santers (one of the few local bands I really liked, and attended their concerts) ran across the street with this just finished cover, they wanted to hear it in a club setting,so I guess I was the first to play it, I wasn't impressed, but they recorded some great original stuff

Hynde had a daughter, Natalie Rae Hynde, in 1983 with Ray Davies of The Kinks. A cover version of the Davies song "Stop Your Sobbing" had been an early hit for the Pretenders, although Hynde met Davies several years later—a meeting which bloomed into a long-term relationship (although Davies and Hynde never wed). She then married Jim Kerr, lead singer of the band Simple Minds in 1984, and had a daughter, Yasmin Kerr, with him in 1985. They divorced in 1990. She married artist Lucho Brieva in 1997, and lived with him in London until they separated in 2002.

Hynde is set to become a grandmother in April 2011, when her daughter, Yasmin gives birth to twin boys.
