Howling Wolf, if you time-out on a game during a time when the site is having problems I'm sure Fencer would re-instate the game for you if you message him. Especially a tournament game.

Subject: MY thoughts on the problems
Running a website costs mney. Making a site run faster and better cosst money.

Tep roblem right now? Too many free riders!! There are too many people who play close to 20 games and are not paying members.

This slows the site down and then the paying members suffer.

HOwling Wolf, please don't takew this the wrong way, but, you are not PAYING anything, so I don't think you have much to complain about.

Granted, people are ALLOWED to play up to 20 games for free, so it isn't really their fault.

so, i think Fencer should lower the amount of games people can play for free. If that upsets soem of them and they leave, oh well, that is an income loss of ZER since thye re not paying anything!

Subject: TROUBLE ACCESSING GAMES INC. TOURNAMENT GAMES!!!
I've been having a LOT of trouble accessing this site lately! Some other people here tell me they've had trouble too! I keep getting a pop-up message telling me the site is "too busy to use right now". As a result of not being able to access my account, I have timed out on FOUR of my tournament games with only ONE move having been made by my opponent. Since I was unable to get in here to play, I lost the game without ever having been able to make a single move! What is causing this access problem? How is it being addressed? And what happens now to those of us who keep getting shut out of our tournament games????

Eriisa: The games in this combobox are sorted by the last move date and time of your opponents. I will add more sorting options later because they can be too CPU-resources consuming and I would like to upgrade to a faster server first.

I've been trying to figure something out.... When you are on a games's page, there is the buttone for next game with the drop down box. Is there a way to control the sort of games in that box? What order are they listed in there?

Subject: Timing Out
I timed out on 2 games today, both with a 24-hour time limit. For 11 hours, I was not able to get into the site. Obviously, I could have played them well within the time limit if I could have gotten here. I seriously doubt that I'm the only person who timed out today because all we could get was a white screen. What are the chances of getting these games restored?

at present there is no provision to create a tournament for certain members only. It would be much better for the original tournaments to play to a final outcome.

Just create a new tournament "Playoff Open Fast Backgammon" only open for the 3 winners.

Right now, there will not be a new round if the previous round had only one section. Like in that example, round 2 had only one section, so there will be no round 3, ties or not.

Yes, I see now. I was mis-interpreting what I was seeing. At a quick glance, I thought those were 4 other sections, not the results from round 1.

You are right, the 3 of you should have played another round until there was a final winner. I know IYT does it that way.

Subject: Re: Ties in Tournaments
On the "Winners" page (new option on the left hand side) - it list all 3 of us from Round 2 as winners of that tournament.

The four sections in round 1 were already played, with the 4 winners each going to "Round 2, Section1" - which has ended with a 3 way tie. - which looks like the end of the tournament to me.

It seems to me, all 3 of you from your section, as well as the winners of the other sections are about to start round 3. Or are you saying that somewhere it is stating you are the final winner of the entire tournament????

Subject: Re: Ties in Tournaments
That tournament is counting as a tournament win for me in the "Winners" list - so I don't think a round 3 is going to start.

I think it should definitely be extended until there is a final winner.

Subject: Ties in Tournaments
I know how it is currently set up - if there is a tie in the last round of a tournament, it just ends as a tie. (for example the Open Fast Backgammon (3) tournament)

I guess my question is if there are any plans to extend a tournament for more rounds to find one winner, or if it will always stay like this.

My vote is to extend it - what do others think?
