The clarification of fellowship game types via a dropdown list is a valid suggestion. For example, I play chess variants. Subsequently, I had to go through every fellowship and not only look at the game lists associated with them, but I had to go into each fellowship and look at how many players there were on each team. A lot of fellowships state that they play all sorts of games, but often there is no one actually playing those games on a fellowship team. Even though I am on several teams, we have never played another fellowship anyway. Up until now, stairs seem to be the most active way to compete... but I would like to partake in more team efforts.

Fencer, in case you missed them, my recent fellowship feature idea concerning increasing the roles of team captain was posted on Jan 26, 19:35:58. It was followed by a couple of more posts elucidating this idea.

Fencer: The reason for the sort request is that there are now a lot of fellowships. Sometimes I have considered a fellowship, but trying to find it later has been an unnessasary hassle. I have been playing long enough to know which long-term players that I respect, so I would like to be able to look at fellowships alphabetically by Big Boss so I can more easily consider the fellowship boards... But I was only asking... it's okay if you don't want to add a sort feature, Fencer. I wish you would have responded to my earlier queries a few days ago about my inter-fellowship matches idea, which involves increasing the role of fellowship team captains. The idea of Fellowships is great, but largely underdeveloped and therefore provides little more than yet another chat forum.

Can we have a way to alphabetically sort fellowships by Fellowship Name or by Big Boss?

رضا: I like the idea of team captains being provided with a more active role. After all, at this point, what is the merit in the position of team captain?
I think that inter-fellowship team challenges could get teams playing together more often, with solidarity and a common goal. It would help fellowships take more notice of each other, and that helps improve communication and good sportsmanship between us all.

Maybe we could run the inter-fellowship matches like stairs, limiting the number of challenges and defenses, so we can avoid teams being flooded with too many challenges.

رضا: Exactly - by counting each inter-fellowship match as a single game. We would have to establish fellowship-team BKRs as we would with an individual. After all, a good team acts as one. Massive all-team tournaments make the process slow. By reducing the inter-fellowship matches to one-on-one affairs, then they can occur more often. The teams that are cohesive and that are here to play will be the competitive ones, comparable to other team sports. It would provide more people with a reason to take an interest in their fellowship teams. I think the fellowship bosses would like to see how their fellowship can compete with other fellowships (all in the name of friendly competition, naturally)...

If we gave each fellowship team for each game a team rating, like an individual player gets, then we could avoid a method which involves averaging the BKR's of the teams' members. That way competition could occur between fellowships without affecting individual ratings.

Subject: fellowship feature request
Is it feasible for us to find way to make Fellowship team matches more interesting? Part of the reason why I am drawn to fellowships is that most fellowships have teams for various games. I would like to see a rankings list for top teams in each game. Then, to make this competitive, to have each Team Captain able to challenge another Team Captain to a fellowship team match.

Subject: start date on games
This might be information that already exists, but I would like to see a game start-date listed in the game info of games that are in progress. Some games take months, and as a personal reference I would like to be able to see the date that each game started. Information exists listing when the last move was made; above that listing would be a good place for the start-date line.

Subject: Re: Stats of Westernized or traditional pieces
takodori: I use traditional pieces in Japanese, even though I am an anglophone. I often ask people which they prefer, and I consistently get "traditional" as an answer. I think what stops the average Westerner from playing more is simply ignorance. There is no popular forum in which shogi is usually introduced. I am from Canada, and am playing on BK because no one else in most cities I have lived in has even heard of shogi. When I play go in cafes, people always think it is pente....

Subject: moving refresh rate link
Is is feasible to move the "Refresh" link to the bottom of the active games on the main page, rather than where it lives at the top right? It would provide an extra line or two with which we can see more of the games without scrolling down. It would be useful for people who can only play up to 20 games.
The feature doesn't get changed much once it is established, so that makes it low on the priority of visibility on the main page.
