MadMonkey: I signed up on windows live which signed me up as a technet member. So I was able to download Windows 7 as a Beta tester. So far, I'm impressed with the way it runs.

I know that's not the answer you were looking for, but that was my solution.

Andersp: LOL, I had to come home to look! Mine is also the Linksys Wireless-G. This is a 4000 sq foot single story home and I get reception through out the house.

I did have a Netgear ummm one of the higher range ones - I , and it worked ok, Its up at my other home in Denison but sometimes the wireless on it just drops for no reason while the ethernet ports are just dandy.

Andersp: I have a Linksys Router that works nicely at home. Here at the warehouse I use AT&T provided 2-wire Gateway (DSL router & modem). Never a problem with it, and I get great reception in this 3000 sq ft warehouse/office.

Subject: Smiley Shortcut...........
From todays blog "An abnormal keyboard shortcut Ctrl-Alt-F12 invokes a smiley popup window, so you don't need to search a mouse while typing. But you have to use it anyway to click the smiley"

Ctrl-Alt-F12 brings up a window for Intel Extreme Graphics 2 (whatever that is)

wfroelich: That's the same thing I found with the blank white banner. It was a weight watcher ad tho. I couldn't get it to repeat (lol - like I would want that, eh?)

Google Toolbar's Pop-up blocker will block it on IE, and Adblock Plus on Firefox seems to completely remove the ads from even showing.

Jessica, I hope this will help you.........

Well, at any rate. The Google Toolbar on IE will definately stop the pop-up as I tested today.

No matter where it comes from, at least there is a solution to avoid it.

coan.net: That gave me an idea! I opened up IE6 with Google Toolbar (glad I had it on, but I didnt know that!) and put the ads back on at the bottom. Then I just randomly starting clicking on boards to see what ad came up.

The first time the Weight Watcher ad showed, it was blank with a mouse-over that said 'click to activate and use this control'. When I navigated to the next board page, The Pop-Up Blocker said it blocked a pop-up. (I cannot figure how to find out what the pop-up was). No problems after that, and I couldnt get it to do that again.

Here's a list in order of ads I saw..........

weight watchers - blank - click to activate and use this control
Google Popup Blocker with no ad

I forgot to add that you would most likely need to buy the wireless card for the desk top tho.

rod03801: You should have an ethernet card already. It will look like a 2nd phone jack in back but had a green light beside it. That would be all you need.

Check if they offer a wireless router even. The nice thing about that is you then have a choice of using the ethernet line or the wireless connection.

Most laptops these days come with the wireless card installed, so if you ever get a laptop you are all set.

And if Verizon ever offers Fios in your area, snap it up! Its worth every penny and even better than cable.

If you like, I can email you an invite to use gmail.

mrloupcity: I don't know much, and a whole lot less than the others on here, but I'll tell you this. My netgear wireless router was a nightmare in the end.

I had someone put that one in, cause I had so much headache with others before. All was great for 3 months, then I started having it suddenly drop and lose signal or lose internet. I finally decided it was outside interference, maybe a ham radio or other transmission drowning it out.

Anyway, we finally got so fed up, that we had it all pulled out. I had the same problem you did with trying to put the other card back in. Her pc is still looking for wireless even tho its not there, I bet.

I don't know what all Robert did. (He doesn't play here) but I can always give you his email addy if you like and you could contact him.

Hopefully, the others can give you some help.

Sally

Modified by Eriisa (22. November 2005, 17:57:14)
Ok, here I go again! lol

I decided to use FireFox for my eBay stuff and see how it goes. I wanted to print part of a listing, but, when I went to print, the Print spooler seems to have gotten hung up.

The firefox dialog box sayd 100% but never went away, and the Printer box stuck on 'spooling'. So after 3 or 4 mintues, I said, the heck with that!, and tried to delete the print job. I first canceled the Firefox box, then clicked to delete the print job in Epson box. Now it sat for over 15 minutes saying it was deleting it.

In the meantime, I went into AOL, called up the page and printed from there with no problem. Finally, I went back to the Print box and clicked cancel and its finally gone.

Ok, now my question is...... Why can't I print from Firefox????

grrrrrr

edit - ok so I can't type either! lol
