Subject: Mozilla Q
Does anyone know what the purpose of Seamonkey, the browser is? It is no where near as good as FireFox, no tabbed browsing, doesn't stop pop ups and sucks for many java applications.. I'm stumped as to why they promote it.

Rose: Well I'm not sure - probable just 2 different projects being worked on by different people who both happen to be developing a browser?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_web_browsers - A comparison of many different web browsers. If I ever get more time, I would like to try out more different browsers.

Rose: The purpose of Seamonkey is to be more than a browser - it is a browser, an email client, a news reader, an irc client and a wysiwyg-html-editor in one single application. So if you look for a browser, use firefox. If you look for an email app, use thunderbird. Only if you want to have everything integrated consider using Seamonkey (not ;)).

By the way: on the project page they say that Seamonkey has tabbed browsing...

(fixed typo)

Mr. Shumway: Thanks dude. I dont need an html editor or an irc client or a newreader. I jus switched to this when my smiley disappeared using FF.. IF someone using Seamonkey can tell me how to access tabbed browsing that would be kool. Maybe its the wrong version I am using? 1.0.6

I use FireFox 2.0. I like it better than IE. But, since I upgraded to 2.0 I've had some problems. Every once in a while, FireFox won't load. When this happens, it showes up in "Processes" under task manager, but nothing hits the screen. All I have to do is kill the process, then it will load again.

Summertop:  I haven't upgraded yet.  Perhaps it's a bug.  Is it a beta version?

Mr. Shumway: FF 3.0a1; I even have a screenshot :)

But if you have a lot (or a few) extensions, don't install it ...

"Snoopy": It was me that told Rose about it, after you told me you used it. I thought it may solve some of her problems.

If she is having problems with Seamonkey (wonder if they are related to ME lol) as well, i wonder if it could be anything else. Thats all her browsers that she has hassle with.

What operating system you using Rose ?

"Snoopy": What size memory do you have ?
It will struggle to run properly if you have Windows XP running it & only 256 of RAM.
Also try to keep to only one window, with a max of about 8 Tabs. That helped me.

MadMonkey: I run Widnows XP with 384 RAM, most tabs i have had open at one time, is 5. I find Firefox the best browser i have ever used.

xmas is soon: Firefox is great. The problem is with less than 512 Ram you may get problems as more things run.
XP uses alot of Ram itself, in fact if you have less than 256 i dont think it will even install.
