 Chess variants (10x8)

Sam has closed his piano and gone to bed ... now we can talk about the real stuff of life ... love, liberty and games such as
Janus, Capablanca Random, Embassy Chess & the odd mention of other 10x8 variants is welcome too

For posting:
- invitations to games (you can also use the New Game menu or for particular games: Janus; Capablanca Random; or Embassy)
- information about upcoming tournaments
- disussion of games (please limit this to completed games or discussion on how a game has arrived at a certain position
... speculation on who has an advantage or the benefits of potential moves is not permitted while that particular game is in progress)
- links to interesting related sites (non-promotional)

Subject: gothic chess removal
at first: it is sadly that gothic chess will be removed here.

however you have to look at two things in my opinion.
1) Gothic Chess will be replaced by Capablanca Random Chess
2) The problems which caused the removal are not the game itself, but the inventor.

So I can understand Filips decision (he is right in my opinion) and I myself will not prolong gothicchess.at after the one-year period. If somebody wants to take the domain earlier please contact me.

Thad: I am not a judge, dear friend. I do not know what got "public", but my opinion is the following: As you can not stop using program help here you can not prevent the copy and paste of messages, postings and so on.
Players and Boards have to live with this facts.

Any way: When I make a copy&paste from steamrollers to e.g. my website I can not see any point why i can not do this.

Subject: Discussion here
Guys, can we please discuss now about Gothic Chess and not about what some Gothic Chess players whispered here?
Compared to other boards this board here often go into a flaming board.
So, please calm down and lets discuss about Gothic Chess! Many beginners asked me what in my opnion is a good opening system (NOT theory!) for Gothic Chess. Any hints?

But I can not see any doubt where you must show one game of bumble which he lost and touch that bumble does not play many gothic chess games.
I do not want to comment Pedros postings - I have my own meaning of all what here happened, but you should think a little bit: You was banned, now unbanned, came back ... and what is it now?

i play many draws, but not short. alomost 20-30 moves. thats ok in my opinion.
to play draw is ok.

Dresden: i took the basic text from the chess rules of wikipedia - and i started to change it and to add the gc rules. well, the text is not individual yet, there will be some corrections and i will add some pics (diagrams and so on)
and of course i will link to other gc related sites! please wait!

gotti2000: Yes, it must be Archbishop ... but in general i am not sure if i should translate these words. teh english words are looking "cooler", but anyway, i will add these translations of course. but in any case i would say, that the notation should be A and C.
in austria i only know you and me playing gc, and at the vienna university of technology some interested, but at the moment non playing. where are you from exactly? please mail me at president@gothicchess.at

Subject: gothic chess database; web view interface
at the moment i can play gothic chess only with a "virtual" board - and i will soon order a board and figures from ed. a gothic chess program is less interesting for me - more interesting would be a database (such as chessbase - maybe gothicchessbase). Does everyone know one? Or is there no database out?
Interesting would be a PGNviewer for gothic chess so thatgames gan be comfortable replayed with comments on the web. Is there anything? If not it would be a nice project for me when i have time for that.

In the subject I am using a statement of Walter and I think, this board should be only for Gothic Chess questions, but not others you discussed here. Please notice, that I am not interested in your damned fight in the last 100-200 postings!
But I am interested in performing Gothic Chess and building up an german speaking homepage about Gothic Chess. Since September, when I tried Gothic at first, it became more and more fascinating for me so that braining is getting my gothic chess playing board, not even chess (chess was the reason why i at first joined brainking).
So, I want to build up a german speaking homepage about gothic chess in the next future (at first i have to finish some other projects). If you want tto help me or to partipcate themes at this planned site please contact me at markus.nemetz@1000schoen.at
Another question: How many Gothic Ches Clubs are in Europe? Suppose not much, in Austria I suppose none. If any interested Austrian read this please contact me - it would be funny to build a club up.
Ant at last: I am thinking about ordering some boards and figures from gothicchess.org - so please if you are interested too please contact me - we can save money (Ed Trice offered a special prize) and shipping costs!

And at last: Thank you very much, Ed, for this game!!! And you, Fencer, for brainking at all!!!
