Subject: More and more games ime out
(copy-paste from my Outbox)
Hello Fencer. Many of my games (8002929, 946993, 8003349, 8003405, 8008220 and 8006693) with standard vacation were lost due to timeout. I have 10 more vacation days left. How come?

Brian1971: If I remember correctly, a while back there was such check box to limit "one match per player". I miss this feature too. As a workaround, I can create 1 game only, wait to be accepted, ban that player, create new game, etc...

@ Nothingness: Actually, we do have this feature available just the way you described it. Do you want an extra column into Public waiting games table showing your score vs those players? It could save some extra clicks. Is this your request?
@ Pedro Martínez: Your comment is not helping Nothingness' request. You were just playing smart-ass.
@ grenv: same as the above. What exactly is your contribution to request itself?

jessica: Well, that's what most game rules say - "white starts". This is not always the true - there's the random factor involved as well. For instanse, in Backgammon there is an initial roll and whoever gets the higher score, moves first. Isn't it the same with the Massacre as well? Like "flip a coin" thing.

Subject: Show/Hide games invitations list
On Main page we have a few lists of games: Your turn, Opponent's turn and Invitations waiting for response. First two lists can become shortened (Settings -> General -> Number of games shown on the main page -> "all", "5", "10", "20"...) or even hidden (Settings -> General -> Show games where it is opponent's turn to move on the main page -> "x").
Is it possible to do something similar for the list of created games awaiting opponent? A simple "hide" would be sufficient. Thanks.

coan.net: the "speed rating" limit --> great idea, I like it. Another way to sift out those obtrusive players.

Ceiter: I like the idea. And while on the subject, I'd like to add one more feature request: a simple progress bar (like those we see while downloading a large file or during a software setup process) showing percentage of games completed versus total games to be played until a tournament is over. Like this:

Tournament progress:
* * * * * *
* * * *
70% (45 of 64 games)

Snoopy: Well, as we have for Opinion Polls list - there could be simply an option Ignore tournaments created by this user. There you go - we have a filter. How simple is that?

Edit: If you block such user, you wouldn't see its games/posts...

Subject: Photo album updates
I have a photo album created and I add files to it every now and then. When people click on Photo albums link, they can only see Newest public photo albums and Newest public photo comments, but not changes or updates made in already existing albums.

Is it possible to have this warning as well? Say, Changed photo albums section and explanation of the change: "New photo added", "Photo title/description changed", etc.

rod03801: "Or is that not what you mean?"

No, it's not what I mean. When I want to play with another player, I don't mind if they are online. It's different than an offline opponent.

"play later" also isn't good enough if I need to skip 20 games.

---

Here is another idea: Giving our opponents "priority": Normal (default), High, Low, Above Normal, Below Normal.... or something similar. Let me say it advance - it's not like "next game with a friend". Just a way to meet some people more often than others and vice versa.

Can we have the following option?

Settings --> Submit move actions --> go to the next game with another player

Sometimes I realize that I play with the same player over and over (because we are both online). I'd like to play against someone else for a change.

Is it possible to hide that table of current tournament that we see every time a game is over? Only a link to the corresponding tournament should be enough. I am talking about at least BrainKing's "light" version. We can only have the table when the entire match is over.

mctrivia: I don't want to remove my (or anyone else's wall), just want to make it good looking.
Go to page: 1, 2, 3... is another option to do that. Although I am not sure if an actual Wall has pages. Perhaps "bricks" would be better. Some years back, people used to scratch a single brick on someone's wall, not 10㎡ as they do nowadays

1. We have Show all Public Friends link under each Profile's Public Friends list. But once this link is used, on return to player's Profile, I can see the same list expanded. There is no "Collapse Public Friends list" or "Show less friends" Edit (sorry, that looks fixed now)

2. Some people have too much writings on their Wall. Another set of links "Show all" / "Show less" would be nice thing to have.

Subject: Local (?) Plakoto rule
There is a Rule in my country: all pieces from the first roll must be placed, not moved. It prevents starting player from moving too much ahead and endanger opponent's starting field.

I mean: when the game starts, we have all our pieces "piled up" and then we must "land" all of it into game board according to rolls we get. So you have 2 steps:
  1. placing pieces,
  2. moving pieces.
While you have that "pile", you can chose to "place" (enter) a piece OR move already placed one. The Rule I was talking says that if one player's first roll is a double, they must place all pieces and move none of them until the next roll.

Here is an example: My first roll is 6-6 and I play 24-18(2) 18-12(2). I.e. place 2 pieces, then move it. This way, I have direct hit upon your field and it is very likely to block your men in the very beginning of the game. This would happen if the Rule is not in power.

What you think guys, should we adopt this rule here on BK as well?

PS. Some part of the above text was Copy&Pasted from one of my games, with a permission from my opponent.

coan.net: You are right, we don't need so many colors. I update my request: only for those game types that would be easily mistaken.

Carl: There is nothing written on the left side of my board. I can see what game is displayed only on my browser's title, but "Backgammon" and "Plakato" are spelled very similar in Bulgarian and can be misread.

Can we have a colored frame around game board for the new gammon variants? It would be easier to distinguish it. I mean something similar to Anti/Cloning etc.

In fact, can we have different color for all gammon types?   <-- Edit

pauloaguia: Well, if you combine your and MadMonkey's ideas, we should ask Fencer to make his To-Do list public and combine it with a Priority system (similar to the one we have on Bug Trcker) and let users vote there. He might not take this "poll" results into account, but at least people will have a place to express their wishes there.

Yes, I understand that. But how about a list like this:
Chess
Chess, Chinese
Chess, Japanese
Chess, Corner
...
Line4
Line4, Anti
...
Backgammon
Backgammon, Anti
Backgammon, Race
Backgammon, Crowded
...

And so on. You will have it listed by game type AND it will be more readable.

Subject: Unsorted list
When I visit someone's Profile page and I wish to invite the person, there is a text at the bottom:
"Invite XXX to a game of" [Drop-down menu] [Send buton]
It would be much easier to find the type of game I want to play, if the games were listed in alphabetical order. Can it be done?
