LMAO

I agree about the next pond button

How about a "submit and go to next pond" button?

And if there is no pond it goes to the front page.

I can't see why I want to stay there after betting.

All a little bit politically correct for me, like Canine American instead of Dog.

I think it should be

I guess I'm not getting that though?

Subject: Re: Re:
Hrqls: And it would take less time to implement than the time I've wasted copying and pasting links
And one more thing: the system is already capable of distinguishing if I have read or not the messages from previous screens - if I read only pages 3 and 2, all the messages on page 1 still display the "New" by them when I get to that page. So this wouldn't need change.
The only possible problem is if I read only pages 4 and 3 and then go away. The number of unread messages won't showup until there is a new message on that DB. But when someone pasts a new message the number will show the correct number of unread messages (11 in case of 5 per page), meaning that the system is well built ( to Fencer)
The only thing missing is the hability to jump to the first unread message...

And since we're talking about little red numbers, can the number of new posts by the DB name be made as a link to the first unread post?
Nowadays, I have to do it by hand - I copy the link of the db name, see how many new messages there are (the red number), paste the link in the address bar and add the text "&bms=XXX" (being XXX the largest multiple of 5 below the number of new messages - I have 5 messages per page).
If the link was added automatically when building the page, it would be swell

and this has probably already been suggested - possibly even by myself - but i'd like to be able to add notes to my blocked users so i'll always remember why i blocked them.

and speaking of adding notes to our people lists, the means of adding a note to an entry on my "friends" list is unintuitive. i didn't even know what it was for until someone told me - largely because there's a "submit" button, but noplace to enter anything to submit. so i didn't know what i would be submitting by clicking it.

i think it should say "change description for" followed by the popup menu from which you choose a person's name, then by a field in which you type your notes, and then by the Submit button (this would also turn what is now a two-step process into a one-step process).

you shouldn't be presented with a button that says "submit" until after you've been given an opportunity to present something for submission (i.e., type something).

can you tell i used to be a software test engineer?

plaintiger: Interesting idea - I have only one "enemy" for that very reason, but I'd love to block a couple of others for whom "enemy" is just TOO strong and lover is inappropriate

17. March 2005, 10:31:25

Right.

17. March 2005, 10:30:41
plaintiger
and it's a minor thing, i suppose, but i still think the name of the "enemies" list should be changed to "blocked users" or something. "enemy" is too strong a word for the purpose - calling blocked users "enemies" is akin to calling the "friends" list "lovers". it's inappropriate, and kind of off-putting (in my opinion).

i'd like clicking the red number next to the "Message box" link to take me to the oldest unread message in my box instead of the newest one. sometimes i have several new messages whose order of arrival is significant and if i click the red number and see the last one first it doesn't make any sense. so i don't click the red number any more because i find using it more confusing than convenient.

Fencer, cool. Can/will you give us some teasers? I hope we don't lose any of the cool features we've come to love.

I am not sure how long till the new fellowships are done. But, if it is going to take a while...could you look at this again? Not knowing your development environment and program layout, I would hope that it could be a simple cut/paste to add new to the general discussion board. If not...Oh, well. COuldn't hurt to ask

Subject: New place to discuss features
Often, when a feature is presented a lengthy discussion occurs about how members want to see it implemented. These iscussions often "hide" other features. So...I have created a fellowship to allow these lengthy discussions. Anyone and evyone is invited. For the Pawns, I appologize. But, a upgraded membership is quite cheap.

So, Do you want to discuss features in detail? come on and Join the Feature Discussion Fellowship.

For the mods on this board...sorry if you feel this post is out of line here. I felt this was the place.

pgt: Maybe you could play by seance? In fact you could seek divine assistance with your moves. We wouldn't know.
Maybe Fencer could arrange a 'discount for the deceased' membership? Brain Angel or something.
Maybe you could persuade God to join BK? There again, He's omnipotent and omnipresent so Fencer would probably ban Him for having multiple accounts.

Fencer: I have been on this bandwagon before, but here is an example:
A Hyperbackgammon Tournament with 4 days per move (I can't IMAGINE why anybody would need to think for 4 days to make a hyper move!) began on 13/02/05. I am playing TWO games against one player, whio has made ONE move in ONE game, and NO moves in the other - although her last signon was 12/03/05. She currently has 326 unfinished games, and in 289 it is her turn.
Now I am not a young man, and I figure on being about 5 years older before these games are completed. What I want to know is, if I don't live for another five years, do I get 3 months autovacation after my funeral before the tournament can proceed? Or do I need to rely on GRENV to alert you to my demise so that the tournament can proceed?

Once again I have opponents timeout and get autovacation while they are online!!!! Autovacation should not be intended to protect players who can't keep up because the started too many games, only players who cannot log in for some reason.

My feature request is: Autovacation only kicks in for players who have not been online for at least the last 24 hours.

Fencer, for the gammons, ESPECIALLY HYPER, instead of seeing the win ratio stats for white/black, could we see the wins based on the player moving first vs. the player moving second? The way it's currently set up, black and white are irrelevant because they have no bearing on the order of play, which is determined randomly.

my legitimate request (which someone may have made already) is that, when we lose a game of dark battleboats, we see the positions of our opponents' boats. it's a little frustrating to have the game end and to not thereby discover where that damn boat was that i'd been knocking myself out trying to find. :)
