Subject: Stairs
I have a question concerning stairs: If I leave a stair I lose my position on the stair, so far it's clear to me. But can I finish my started stair games or do I lose them automatically?

gringo: you cant leave a stairs when you are still playing a game

you can retire on a stairs though (even when you have some games going), you wont lose your position that way and the outcome of your ongoing games will still count (you will drop or raise acording to your win or loss, although you cant see it as you are not shown while being retired)

Hrqls: You CAN leave a stair in which you are still playing a game - and you will continue playing that game. I just tried it ;)

Mr. Shumway: oops, i then misunderstood :)
the same will then apply to leaving the stairs as which applies to retire on a stairs

the games will continue and will still count for your opponent, and also for you if you are still on the stairs (but not if you left it :))

Hrqls: I reentered immediately after leaving, and I "cannot start a new game until ...", so I think that they even count for me, as I finish them while I am in. Not sure about that though ;)

Mr. Shumway: you are sure you used 'Remove me from these stairs' and not 'Start retirement' ?

because what you say sounds exactly like a retirement works (as i understand :))

Mr. Shumway: fun :)

i never left a stairs ... why would you leave one if you can retire and return in the future :)

Hrqls: maybe because there are tricky situations as a pawn? I don't know, but I heard of a loophole concerning stairs that enabled pawns to get more than twenty games!

Mr. Shumway: but i guess it wont be possible to use that loophole when the pawn is retired on the stairs ? as the stairs then isnt active for that pawn

i see very little difference between retirement and leaving a stairs .. only that when you retire you wont lose your position on the stairs
(hmm as a pawn it might be needed to leave a stairs to be able to join another one)
