Its a casino ad, and it looks and acts normal on my main page, but all other pages it gets all jumbled and spreads out and covers my game boards etc, I do have ad block as well, shouldn't that take care of it? I will try IE to see if it is the same.

Even if I have to view ads they should not bleed onto my pages, something else must be wrong, any ideas?

tippyc: the probability of getting double 6's on any given roll is always exactly 1/36. the same concept applies to all dice rolls.

But that does not mean either, that the probability of getting 6 doubles in a row is the same as not getting 6 doubles in a row.

It doesnt sound like anything that would be difficult to implement though.

bouncer: The recent events, mostly related to the site performance issues,

This blog entry admits that there are site performance issues. What those issues are is not explained, but they surly exist, and surly include slow load times etc.

For fencer to say that none of our concerns are based on the server side is preposterous, we all know that. But when he probably doesnt know himself what is causing the slowdowns, then it gets frustrating to him to always hear the same complaints over and over.

I think what people want to hear from Fencer is that he is aware of some access problems and is constantly doing whatever he can to correct any that might be in his control, and that sometimes the problems are not in his control to fix.
But when we have zero problems on any other sites except here, and it is many users in many different parts of the world, it is obvious to everyone that it must be somehow related to Brainking, and not just a random computer problem that we all share at the same time!

Fencer, I was just reading your blog about Brainking showing up on gambling site lists when Googled.

You didnt mention this, but just maybe it also has to do with the fact that you have some games with the name "Poker" in them, IE "Dice Poker"?

coan.net: You are probably correct, and this is much ado about nothing.

Its just that when you allow minors on a supposedly family friendly site watch videos that even the originating site says is not appropriate for kids under 13, then you obviously risk losing your endorsement as a family site.

This is a continuation form a discussion on the music board, where the moderator asked us to move it to here instead.....

With the recent talk about this site being designated as a "family oriented" web site, and the recent edition of music and other videos being uploaded to public boards from youtube et al, some are wondering if this is appropriate for such a family oriented site?

Some parents do not allow their children to watch any music videos at all. So even with them being moderated, is it even possible to not offend someone? I mean even talking about bear hunting was considered an unacceptable topic, so how long before videos will cause a stir?

Subject: Re:
Vikings: doesn't the auto pass here work only when there is no possible move to make? regardless of the dice?

That is not correct. That was my initial thought as well, but it turn out that fencer made it to auto pass any time when a person cannot move, and he changed it so the dice are rolled directly after a persons turn instead of when the player who's turn it is goes to the game. So in an auto pass game, if I "move and stay here" I will see my opponents next dice already. ( not sure if the same is true for non auto pass games though)

Anyway, in my game the auto pass should have ping ponged us back and forth, with neither of us seeing the game until one of us had a move, and that did not happen!

Here is a new one I havent heard about.

In an auto pass backgammon game both my opponent and myself could not make a move on consecutive turns. He auto passed back to me, but I did not auto pass back to him, I had to click to pass my next turn?

is this a bug or is it planned to not auto pass every time in an auto pass game?

nabla: I dont like the idea of my dice being rolled straight away after my opponents turn, although I guess it doesnt really matter.

My question is this always the case, the dice being rolled immediately after a turn is played by the other player? So, for example, I can make a move and stay here and see my opponents next roll already made?

20. May 2007, 15:52:12

I am sure this has been discussed before... but i was under the impression that an auto pass feature would only make a move in a game ( I am thinking about backgammon) when there are no rolls of the dice that could create any moves???? It makes no sense the way it currently is implemented, to me.

I have noticed that on a persons profile it shows a link to other names they have had on this site. But it doesnt seem to be there for everyone. Is this something that only tracks name changes since this was implemented or how exactly does this feature work?

Subject: Re: Languages and Active Users
AbigailII: Okay, thanks, thats kind of what i thought.

It seems at first glance to tell us something more than it really does. For example, Fencers comment about making this a Danish language site (I now he was only jesting) because at first glance it seems like these statistics show a lot of Danish speaking users. But in reality, if there are only 4 dutch speakers registered ever, and 3 of them have logged on in the past 7 days, then you will get a 75% statistic in your calculations.

So it is likely that a language with many many registered users, English, will have a better chance at a lower percentage than one with only a few registered users, correct?

So if you have 10000 registered English speakers, and 1000 of them have logged on in the past week, you will have a 10% calculation for English, and using the example above, you can have 3 users log on for a 75% calculation, so these stats dont really tell us anything about the most common language or anything that would cause fencer to switch the main language of this site, or anything like that!
