Subject: Red Dot Colour code/ PayPal.
Modified by crosseyed_uk (2. January 2008, 01:15:38)
I thought I was lucky to get the red dot colour code which was 100% bonus. So I took advantage of the offer on 18th December. When it did not show up in my profile the next day I contacted Fencer. I also contacted him when I saw that the money had been taken out of my account on the 21st December. He told me that the money was not his account yet.
Can you believe this, it was paid into his account today and I missed out on the 100% red dot code deal.
I think he should honour the deal since he knew about it before the deadline.
Also was not my fault that the christmas holiday and two weekends held things up. So be warned that PayPal takes too long to complete transactions. It states in Paypal that it could take 7 to 9 days to complete a transaction. You need to allow 2/3 weeks for payments it to be completed. PayPal sucks.

crosseyed: ask Fencer for your money back......and I would have thought that if you have proof that it came out of your account before midnight on the 31st he would honor the deal, and as you have said you contacted him about it, but.......money makes people do strange things

Bernice: think it was debited out of her account on the 21st....that was 10 days before the deadline so she should get the 100% on the membership.

Dolittle: yes exactly....scan/copy her statement and send to Fencer....surely he would have the decency to honor it.....but then.....as I said, money does strange things to people

Subject: Re: Red Dot Colour code/ PayPal.
Dolittle: The rules are very specific about that and say that it's the date of receiving the money which counts, not the date of sending. A month is a very long period for everyone to make it before the deadline and if someone makes a bank transfer on 21st December, it is not a wise decision because banks are usually slow by the end of the year.
I have decided to make an exception and give crosseyed the bonus but I would like to point out that nothing like that will be done again in the future. The rules should be the same to everyone.

Fencer: under your own words it is a silly thing to do (not a wise decision), so why have it (the promotion)going over this holiday period.

Thank god you have made an exception, shows there is a heart in there somewhere :)

Do you have to make a return to YOUR Govt once a month or whereever to return to them the VAT collected from customers of yours?

I know that VAT has been in the UK, NZ, and Aust for many years now (maybe called something different) but didnt realize that the Czech Rep. also have that system.

Can someone advise me on this....

Over here, if someone from another country uses our services there isnt any Vat, GST or whatever paid.....for instance, I contract to a Solicitor and if we do work for a client in the UK he isnt required to pay our GST....I would have thought that would have been practically universal... The USA has a similar situation I think, but I do stand to be corrected/.

Bernice: It's a silly thing for those who still use slow payment methods. The majority of orders is paid by online services (PayPal, MoneyBookers) which, of course, work continuously and instantly, no matter whether there is a holiday or not.

Bernice: Czech Rep is now part of the EU, which has adopted the VAT - so yes, they do that that now.

Little more info about VAT - since for myself in the US, don't know much about it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Value_added_tax

Fencer: Thank you Fencer for changing your mind and making an exception. I actually took advantage of the deal on the 18th December which you would see in my PayPal account. Unfortuately PayPal has changed it rules and I was not aware that the transaction is not completed before 7 to 9 days. In the past the money was taken immediately. I now know that I either have to put money into my PayPal account or allow for the time period. It was just bad luck for me that that there were 2 weekends and the Christmas holiday that held things up.
Once again thank you.

Bernice: I don't want to keep on about this since Fencer has been good enough and changed his mind. Unfortuately for me the money did not get into Fencers account still 01/01/08 09.43.00. So I did technically miss the deadline. But since I had been in touch with Fencer several time before the deadline I was dissappointed that he did not give me the bonus as he was aware that the payment was pending.
Thank you for your input. And I am so grateful that Fencer changed his mind. I intend to give the bonus to someone who cannot afford membership and that was why I was so upset.

crosseyed: I was just curious since I deal with Paypal at lot as an eBay seller. Did your payment go as an e-check?

Dolittle: Are you charged a fee for that? And how do I go about arranging that? PayPal have made it very difficult to contact them. You have to go through a silly way and only certain questions gets you through to them.

crosseyed: to activate your paypal account to use your credit card , it takes a few days ........they make a charge to your credit card for a few pence , you use the code that is then given to verify things , at least that is how it used to work when i joined
