I'm not sure what the big deal is about playing a much higher ranked player. First of all, there is a decline key. This entire thing could have been avoided had the invite just been declined. I see no reason that someone would get upset. If you don't think it is fair, decline it and move on. Secondly, regardless of the game, I would jump at the opportunity to play a higher ranked player. The points I lost would be minimal, if any at all depending on the ranking difference and I might actually learn something by playing a higher ranked player.
