Subject: Paranoia
I was recently invited to The Flame Pit fellowship. I accepted but when I returned a few days later I was surprised to find myself thrown out of same without so much as an explanation. I sent a request to be admitted, thinking an error had occurred, and a message asking why I had been treated in such a manner, only to be refused entry on the grounds that I was suspected of being someoneelse or a spy and sworn at.!
This is a game site first and foremost, the purpose of which is to provide fun. It is not M.I.5!!
I don't know about everyoneelse here, but I am fed up to the back teeth with the constant paranoia about so called multinics on this site. It sours the atmosphere here. It does not encourage people to stay here.
I will for the time being remain in the fellowships in which I am at present, but I am seriously considering whether or not to renew my membership when the time comes. I have had enough of this nonsense.

If a Rook doesn't renew the subscription, though, I think it will become BigBoss until (s)he hands over the job to someone else... but his/her powers will be diminished like you seem to be experiencing...

I was just curious...wanted to see both sides of the Obama?McCain thing, tho it's kind of a moot point now, but am always interested in hearing both sides, so the debate club is a good idea for me. ..thanks

.... and again, it might not be the dragon causing the issue - might be another Brain King issue.... I'm just guessing it is the dragon since on game pages, where the dragon is not in the page source - I don't seem to have the issue.

Subject: BrainKing hijacks Firefox
I've had this problem for awhile, and my usually way to fix it is to just close the BrainKing site and play on other sites - but I would love if a solution could be found.

I use Firefox (most current version). I have the no-fonts, use external style ccs (which "hides" the flying dragon but is really still there), have all my JavaScript choices in settings turned off (except smiley window on mouse click).

The issue is whenever I have BrainKing up in a tab - on the main pages, reading the boards, in private message (just about everyone except actual games), my Firefox starts to use between 75-97% of the CPU. If I don't change pages, this will last anywhere between 45 - 90 seconds.

It is a simple thing for me to test - I simply close the BrainKing tab (leaving the other 8 open), and the CPU goes down to very low. Open BrainKing in a tab again - BOOM, CPU pegged.

This has been a pain lately since I've hooked up a second monitor to my PC, I'm currently doing a lot more work - like currently a large batch job on pictures (normally can resize/watermark 1 picture every second - when BrainKing is up, it is down to about 1 every 20-30 seconds), plus I watching a movie. (normally works perfectly, but when BrainKing is up, the picture will stop and usually I keep hearing the sound and the picture just won't move)

Again, when BrainKing is closed - everything works perfectly. (or if BrainKing is open but I've let some time go by 45-90 seconds), but usually I'm done reading a page by then, so when I switch - BOOM, starts over again.

The only thing I can think it is - is the dragon that "flys" across the screen.... since I think that normally takes 45-90 seconds. Even though I have it not to be shown on my screen through my external style, the browser still loads it.

Oh yea, my request.

Can there be a setting option to remove the dragon so it won't even load? You allow us to remove almost all the other JavaScript items from BrainKing, but not this one - and I know it probable isn't a problem for a lot of others, but for some reason the BK JavaScript stuff has always caused me speed issues.

Thanks.

rod03801: I had exactly the same thing happen on a different site. I'd paid instantly with PayPal for ages and then suddenly they switched me over to e-cheque and I had to wait a week for clearance and didn't receive my son's birthday present in time. I'd changed my PayPal status to "verified" at about the same time, so it might have something to do with that. I had no warning though, same as you. Hope you manage to sort it out.

Fencer: Oh. I don't recall seeing any choices, there. (That doesn't mean there wasn't any, lol) I just did what I have always done, entered my log in information when taken to PayPal, and click Pay. I will have to look into it further the next time I use it.

I wonder why it never used to be a problem for me. Thank you for pointing that out.

Charles Martel: I don't know. I don't use it for much. But for a little while now, nothing has been instant when I have used it. I also used it to pay for membership at another website (in USA) and it was a few days before they received the payment as well. (And this was at least a couple months ago). And as I mentioned, I bought brains here a couple months back, and I think it was almost a week before Fencer received it.

I have wondered if it is somehow that I have my account there set up in such a way that causes it to take longer. I have used it for years though, and it seems as though it always used to be INSTANT. (Even when buying brains/memberships here at BK)

I do remember that when I bought another year this weekend (to take advantage of the "red dot") that I got a message here on the site that it produced a bad code from PayPal(or some such words) but that it isn't a problem.

It doesn't bother me so much. As long as it goes through eventually. I just wanted to warn people not to leave their payment until the last moment, if they were taking advantage of the Birthday action.
