We are getting somewhere now :o)

Do we get to vote using the poll link, as to wether we agree with your choice of person before hand?

I already know who it will be and am not happy about it

Stevie: I don't say it will never happen. But not immediately after the launch. There are more important things to do.

The "all boards arch moderator" What can they do? is it just public and fellowship boards they can access to edit/delete/ban, or profile alterations also?

It's not impossible.

Right so there is a problem, will BK2 be any less strain on the server?

21. May 2004, 18:24:19
Fencer
It is a normal behaviour of overloaded servers.
Do you want an absolutely reliable 24/7 service? Give us, for example, 30,000 EUR and you will have it :-) High-performance hardware costs some money, as well as their maintenance.

Can you tell us what is happening to the site at the moment? the last few days weve had blips and time warps etc. Will this be sorted at the same time or before hand etc?

Subject: cheating at Backgammon
it's impossible to cheat at Backgammon here by controling the roll of the dice.

That said, however, it is possible to increase your chances of rolling more doubles.

It's all in the wrist. :)

LOL @ Harley, This discussion should move to the Backgammon board...Then posts again on the subject... Cracked me up!...

21. May 2004, 15:25:13
bumble
That's it, harley. You must use the higher of the two if you can.

21. May 2004, 15:24:24
harley
So the rule not supported here is that a player should use the higher number, if either dice can be used, but not both..?

21. May 2004, 15:22:08
harley
I still don't know that rule properly. I've probably broken it a few dozen times at least without realising. I know theres more information about it at the backgammon board, this discussion should move over there really.

21. May 2004, 15:21:21
bumble
A player must use both numbers of a roll if this is legally possible (or all four numbers of a double). When only one number can be played, the player must play that number. Or if either number can be played but not both, the player must play the larger one. When neither number can be used, the player loses his turn. In the case of doubles, when all four numbers cannot be played, the player must play as many numbers as he can.

the dice here do not support one of the basic rules in backgammon about use of the dice when only one can be moved... some people consider it cheating.. others consider it legal because this site supports it... i try to play according to the rules...

I dont get the cheating question iou...
There is no way to cheat in backgammon, as there are no moves 'in poor taste" as Sharon contends...

What am I missing here?

Are you trying to say that "swapping the dice" is somehow cheating or in poor taste?

This time it makes a change, they are also a Rook now, so they can no longer say its a member privaledge to get better die. LMAO

Steve, I don't know how many times a day I get accused of this! It is impossible to change the dice at backgammon, they are completely random and theres no way to alter that.

if you were able to move the 6 and moved the 3 instead .. than that move would be in poor taste.... but since there was no move available for the 6 then only thing you could do is move the 3 .. which is a legal move...

I need you to inform the players here that there is no way that I can cheat by arranging the dice to roll what I need in backgammon.

I understand this right. In 1 of my games I have all but 2 of my men in home. My last two are close but on same spot. I roll a 3-6. I could have moves the 3 with 1 of my men in home but then would not have been able to move the 6 cause my oppent has that spot covered. If I would have done it that way it would have been said that I was cheating for not using both dice right? If that is so then I'm glad I did not do it that way...
