HMMMMMMMMMM That lked easy.

Fencer: Since tournaments setup using the Fischer's clock time does not use vacation or weekend days, can we get a red "dot" next to those PLAYERS IN FELLOWSHIPS THAT ARE ON LINE?times in the tournament list also - as a "reminder" to us that they do not include weekends or vacations.

Here is a good chart to compare what the different membership levels get:

http://brainking.com/en/PaidMembership?p=1

It is a little out of date (Like paid members can play in Ponds), but it is mostly up to date.

Subject: Re:
Czuch Chuckers: That is what we are talking about.

The "Total game time". The example is 3/1/10 means:

3 days total game time for a person.
1 day added for each move
10 days is the MAX amount of time you can have.

So if it was 3/0/10

That would mean you would get no extra time, a person would have 3 days total to play the game (Meaning if both players use all their time, 6 days max until game is over) (Plus the /10 part would not matter since no time is added)

And there is no vacations or weekends used in these types of games.

7. July 2005, 03:00:20
Czuch
Sounds right.... but there is also an new one for total game time, so I am guesing that if you want to play a game in one day for example you can now do it, or in one week or something. The advantage being if you want to p[lay a fast game but dont want to ghet trapped by a one day move game, just in case something would happen..

7. July 2005, 02:34:33
rod03801
Or whatever the bonus is. So basically, if you are concerned about time outs, you should look at what the "bonus" time is, as that will be the minimum amount of time you will ever have between moves ... ????

7. July 2005, 02:33:10
rod03801
So, if you are a slow mover, you would potentially be down to 1 day per move all the time. Do I have that correct?

7. July 2005, 02:20:47
coan.net
Subject: Re:
rod03801: Yes I think you have it.

For example:

3 days moves
1 day bonus
10 days total.

Your clock starts at 3 days. If it takes you 2 days to make a move, you clock is down to 1 (PLUS the bonus of 1 day) which will then leave you with 2 days for your next move.

But lets say you have the 3 days, but you move in 1 hour - leaving you with 2 days, 23 hours (PLUS the bonus of 1 day) which will then leave you with 3 days, 24 hours.

And since vacations & weekends are not used - the faster you play, the more time you can "bank" up if that tournament includes bonus time.

I think I explained it correctly.

7. July 2005, 02:16:09
rod03801
So, if I moved quickly all the time in this tournament, I could potentially have a 10 day time limit? (Getting the 1 day bonus each move) Am I interpreting that part correctly?
I'm not quite understanding how it helps play faster games.. I guess I need to see it in action to get it.. Unless someone can make me understand better? :-)

When I recieve an invite to backgammon, it gives me the option to write a message, but then when I do accept and write a "thank you" I get the gane back to my turn saying that I have lost the initial dice roll and then I submit this one, but my opponent will not see my originol thank you and good luck, nor is it archived. Does this make sense?

It could be two reasons, reza. Its American Independance day, so the site has a holiday - and you have automatic vacation set. I'm not sure how that looks when its used because I haven't run out of time on any games to see, but that could be the cause.
If you want to change this, its in your settings. Just untick 'automatic vacation'.

I know it was recently talked about somewhere...
Blocked users
The player from this list cannot
invite you to a game,
see you on Who is online page,
send you a message,
add you to their Friends list.
But, I do have people on my friends list who have me on their enemies list as well. Maybe if you put them on your friends list before they put you on their enemies list it still works? Or this is jus not accurate information?

Czuch Chuckers: *nod* i often set the mid part of my holiday with fixed vacation days .. but leave a few days at the start for my automagic vacation days as it might be possible my opponent hasnt moved before that and i wont be needing the vacation day at all (of course this might leave me with only 1 day for my games once i get back)

another advantage of using automagic vacation days is that your opponents (in pond games) cant see you will be away .. fixed vacation days are shown on your profile, so other people in your pond can view them and know you will autobid the next round :)

Subject: Re: vacation
Hrqls: That is good info.. I was under the impression that auto vacation and regular vacation were the same, and I think many others do as well (including many who give faulty advice to someone who is setting vacation days) It is good to know that it is more efficient use of vacation days to set them when you know they will be needed, and leave auto vacation for emergencies only!
