Subject: I don't live in Soul???
The site clock is still not doing what it is supposed to do. Australia went back to Eastern Standard time on Sunday morning at 2am but the site clock (if set on Brisbane,Sydney,Melbourne,Vladivostok) still reads an hour ahead. The actual time here at the moment is 12.20am on March 27 but the clock tells me that if I live here the time should be 1.20am????

BTW. Where the heck is Soul?????

I must say, I find the boards with the new style sheets harder to use than the old way. Can we at least have a different background for messages and the surrounding area? Just a tiny border doesn't do it.

And textboxes should look like textboxes (which are traditionally "lowered"). Now it's just a white rectangle in a sea of white among other white rectangles in the same white sea.

Subject: bug or porely implemented feature?
I mentioned this before, with no response - and I'm not sure if it is a bug, or just something that basically makes the feature pointless.

In the tournament templates, it does not save the name or description as part of the template.

Those are the areas that for me takes the longest to fill out - and to have a template with those 99% filled out where I just need to make a small change for each template would be VERY helpful - but right now all that a template saves is the settings for the tournament - which is something that usually takes me 10 seconds to do without a template.

Any chance to get this bug fixed - the templates are a great idea for someone like me who makes a lot of tournaments, but un-usable right now.

Just shows you not everyone(or should i say each screen) sees things the same as they do not know what they are looking at or trying to look for. I will try altering her screen when i am there next, but everything else looked great on it, it should be for the price it cost.

And i still love the simple style

ScarletRose: If you try to compose the message again a link to retrieve the saved message should appear by the message box where you enter text.
Of course, if you already tried it and didn't notice it, the retrieve saved message link probably won't appear anymore :(

which saves itself?

In my message folder.. I was writting a message to a friend.. it had saved the message since I allow it to at a certain amount of time.. it was a long and involved message reqarding some issues here.. and after clicking send I was booted from the site.. I finally got back in.. but, noticed it was not in my sent folder.. Nor am I able to find that message anywhere else??

What good does saving the message do.. if you can't retrieve it after getting booted.

AbigailII: I agree that including DST conventions in the time zone setting would be a nice feature. And it's probably true that some users would be confused and complain. But then some users are already confused and complaining.

But as I see it, the absence of this feature is not the main problem. The main problem is the mismatch between the interface and the functionality of BK's time zone setting. The various options on the Settings page are all described as fixed offsets from GMT, but they are implemented</a> as fixed offsets from Czech time. Thus, whenever the Czech Republic is on summer time, what you set is not what you get.

Subject: Re: Daylight Saving Time
alanback: Actually, the US has never switched to DST on the last Sunday of March. From 1987 to 2006, the US switched to DST on the first Sunday of April; from 1966 to 1986, the switch happened on the last Sunday of April (with the exception of 1974 and 1975 when the US switched in January and February).

So even under the old rules, there would still have been a week where just one side of the pond would be on DST.

Having said that, it's a pity that all you can choose from for a timezone is a fixed offset of GMT (although if it would really be a fixed offset of GMT, everyone would have to switch their timezone twice a year as GMT is a fixed timezone without DST). There are publicly available databases with rules for all timezones (the Olson database for instance). But that would lead to a huge drop down list, and many people would get confused and start complaining.

KotDB:  I assumed that the bug would disappear this weekend, when the US would have gone on DST if the Congress had not lost its mind, and Europe also goes on DST (if I am not mistaken).  For this reason I did not attempt to reset the time to GMT -7, since that would introduce a new error at the weekend.

I hope Fencer will not be burdened with the task of redefining GMT, which seems pretty well defined as it stands.

I wouldn't waste time trying to change the way the time displays for the remainder of this week.  I just wanted to point out that, due to a change in US DST, whatever algorithms were in place to fix the time display were not displaying the time correctly.

As a further note, the US government is required to produce a report on whether the early switch to DST (and the late switch back to Standard Time) actually saves energy.  If it does not, then we will revert to normal DST in the future.

alanback: The time is currently displayed correctly according to your settings. For example, if you live in the Pacific time zone, Pacific Standard Time (PST) is GMT-8 and Pacific Daylight Time (PDT) is GMT-7. So if you want BrainKing to display PDT, you should have your time zone set to GMT-7.

The bug will appear this coming weekend, when the Czech Republic shifts to summer time and Fencer attempts to redefine Greenwich Mean Time.

In my opinion, what is needed at the bottom of the page, is links to each language..... like it is on the bottom of the main sign-in page:

I like the new stile quite good so far, I'm just used to the row-layout, wich I hope is not too complicate to create.

Fencer, the message box in the new styles is not very clear (well on this PC) as too which messages have been read and which not.
Well the No fonts option is not to bad.
Could you make the read messages show in italics or the unread ones more bolder than they are please.

Side note, i like the simple style, i think it clean, tidy & clear

Hieronymus: But having the flags on the top right is such a waste of screen real estate, and is only useful for a handful of people (the translators), and even then I doubt they switch between all of them.

I rather not have items on the top of the page that are either useful to only a very few number of people (the flags), or contain things I already know (for instance, the current date and the time).
