Fencer: sorry i had missed your post ... i was probably reading walters when you posted it :)
on many boards its common use to do it like this

i am mainly visiting ezboards (but also some phpboards) where i am a mod on some. i never had people complain about a move. (ezboards gives the option to leave a link in the original place of the post which leads to the place where it is moved to)
