Subject: Re: Scoring
The rating system we have here makes NO adjustments for draws what so ever!!

This is not true. Ratings are calculated even for draws. When I have more time, I can review the algorhitm but I am sure it is correct, I've tested it many times.
However, if you know about a better one and want to help me, give me more details. Everything can be improved.

Heck, you are right. There seems to be a Czech locale [after the re-installation]. I'll fix it ASAP :-)

Great idea Uwe. I also prepare more tournament-related functions.

No one will be restricted in the amount of moves a day.

Of course.

We used to have an e-mail verification when BrainKing had been launched a year ago. However, lots of people didn't want how to use it and my mailbox was full of e-mails like "help, what should I do with that activation code?".
So I'd decided to remove it.

jason: This year, of course :-)
Fiona: I already know that it is caused by double cookies from "normal" and "new" brainking.com. The workaround is easy - delete all BrainKing.com cookies from your browser. Btw, using new.brainking.com is not necessary anymore, both addresses point to the same server now.

Spirou: Yes, I consider to add, as you say, face to face games. There was already a discussion about new systems of time per move/game and it could one of the possibilities.
I have this global plan:
1) Finish the BrainKing 2.0 core.
2) Launch it at a test mode and let it go through deep testing by volunteers. During the test period it will be connected to another database to make sure that possible bugs won't corrupt the "real" data.
3) After all tests are passed, new BrainKing will be released as a stable version and I will start to implement new features. Including the one you propose.
I am sure that all of this can be done this year.

All anti-games are red and many other variants are have colored outlines, e.g. loop chess is dark blue, three checks chess is light green etc. :-)

Of course it can be corrected.
On the other hand, why should I add better support for pawns? Nothing of the restrictions you've described would apply to them if they upgrade their membership. Which is exactly what I want.

Nope, the grwy background has been added to make a visual difference between these two text areas [notes and messages]. Several players had requested it some months ago.

I will turn it on soon. My tests has proven that it has nothing to do with occasional server down events.

ladybell: Done. It happened due to database server failure.<br>
Crissie: I am sorry but the database from Sunday is lost. The persons must join the fellowship again.<br>
bumble: Please wait until I check my bank account for those 3 millions ;-)

Magenta Spiral: Actually, adding brand new games would required strong Java programming skills and due to security reasons I would have to check all details of such code before it could be added to the site. Modifying start positions of already implemented games is much easier.
However, these games should go to a special section, something like "user defined variants". Hmmm, not a bad idea at all. I will think it over.

Subject: Re: re: Tournament
Yes, I can add a script that will be automatically started once a day [like the expiration check script does] and will start all tournaments waiting for the next round. I will add it to my list.
About turning rooks to pawns, such player loses all rook advantages [directing a tournament, starting a fellowship, etc.] but he is not automatically kicked off his fellowships and tournaments. I would like to give people a chance to renew their membership, especially if they run a fellowship.
Since these situations [membership expiration] are still new and not much tested, I will improve them later :-)

9. August 2003, 19:33:56
Fencer
Magenta Spiral: How do you think it should work? Just to enable players to define their own start positions of already implemented games? Or to create completely new games/variants?<br>
Stinger: It is not hard to implement but I am afraid that this value would show nothing because every game has both high-rated and low-rated players. So the averages would be very similar. Or am I not right?

Subject: Re: Hey, I can say ONE thing about IYT
Of course I can remove all chess symbols and make all users equal. And then I will close the site at all because it costs me more than $200 each month just to run it. When I find a sponsor to pay all my expenses related to BrainKing.com, I will make all features available for free.

CaissasDream: I would like to implement theme tournament as well :-) It is at muy TODO list.
rod: It will be added after hardware upgrade because it means additional load for the database server. But it is a good idea anyway :-)

rod: Maybe I could make it as a tournament option. Later.

1) Maybe later, it would be too CPU-consuming process to display this list on each page.
2) Yes. When I have more time for it :-)
3) You can see it on your Profile page if you select "signed tournaments" in the dropdown box.
4) Why not. I'll write it down.

1) How is it related to "feature requests"?
2) I think that if you cannot log on only twice a day, it is not a big problem with respect to the hardware we have to use. See BrainKing.info for more details.

Subject: Re: Games Won/Lost against Players
Currently you can see this statistics at the opponent's profile after clicking on "show games with this player only". But you are right that it would be nice to see it in games as well. I will add it to the list.

Subject: Re: Ignore / Mute
Sure. But it would mean another CPU load for our processors. I would like to postpone all such features after our hardware is upgraded.
