the inflicted higher traffic also seems to be a part of the problem.

I know fencer is working very hard to get the problems sorted & is exhausted right now.
He has achieved so much already in such short time & deserves a well needed rest so lets give him at least a week to recover shall we..

Quite right Dmitri, Fencer is here almost as much as me(!) and he's aware of the problems and working flat out to sort them. Of course he needs to know what problems we're having before he can sort them, but for problems that everyone is having, it is a bit pointless us all complaining about the same thing. Its just taking up his time having to read through all the complaints.

Fencer has about 80 games going, and most of them were his opponent's turn to move last time I checked. This indicates to me that he makes his moves fairly regularly, and he probably knows when the site si running slowly. I could be wrong, but I am not sure it three is any opint in people's writing here every time three is slowness. It seems thel ast few dozen messages have been almost identical-- "The site is slow" with some extra stuff added on to each one. Maybe there should be a separate "the site is slow" messageboard, because eventually people will stop bothering to read this board if every post is about the site being slow.

Alot of us are frusterated with the slowness but I do believe Fencer is aware of it and trying his best to fix the problems we are all getting here.. Hopefully every one can find some patience while he tries his best to see what can be done.

is this site ever going to be running right again. white screens, BK is too busy right now, can't use that kind of info, slowness, can't move a certain piece.....this is going on 5 days, since last Thurs. evening, right on thru this morning, it is the same old s___. PLEASE REPAIR IT!!!

Yes I have the same problems and just click "refresh" and it comes up with the next game :)...OOPS for got to add most times not all the time :)

For me, the solution will be to wait until next weekend when we go on daylight savings time, then my clock will be right again.
For Kevin in Saskatchewan, I'm not sure what the solution is. Maybe he'll have to set his clock to a different time zone to make it correct.

I have had some white screens also and I use IE 5.5 and I do the refresh, and it seems to work most of the time.

Web TV is not the only place that white screens occur. I use IE6, but when I click on any of the three 'move' buttons, I get a white screen and have to go back to my e-mail to click on the link to take me to the home page of brainking in order to play my next game. I have yet to see an answer addressing this issue! It's a nuisance and a time waster. I would just like to know: is it or can it be fixed eventually, or not? And I notice other messages from people wanting to know the same thing. ty!

In my checker game with Nurse Ratchett (50386) I am unable to move piece 4F although it is a legal move. Any of my other pieces can move fine. The site will not even let me hilite it with my cursor. Any help?

probs are being fixed I C..thought it would help to know.on webtv,I am not able to acesss 1 game at all.the others when I enter move..i get error message"webtv can not handle that type of information" on a blank whitescreen.never had a prob B4 ever wth BK.this message I usually gets if you are trying to download something,which of course webtv cant do.re-freshing sometime helps,I am finding.

There is no solution needed, its daylight saving time....we adjust to it, not fix it. Everything will be back to normal next week.

there was a problem with our serverhousing provider and one of our network cards had failed. Both should be fixed now.

Fencer, site is desperately slow this morning, 07.43 UK time.

..could be based on crowded backgammon.
reducing your count to zero or increasing our opponents count by bumpimg blots to the bar is the obvious key to backgammon.
thus the strategy of the games axis' is based on hitting blots.so why not a variation that make use of this directly.
the idea then:
crowded backgammon,but the extra blots are not on the bar.they are"beside the board".one of thes blots can only be put on the bar when you hit an opponents blot.at this time one of your off board blots & the opponents blot go to the bar.thus you are "rewarded" for hitting a blot & get yout blots into the game faster.this could be a very interesting game.what do you & everyone think,fencer?

We don't go on daylight savings time here in the US until next weekend. I guess that's the problem.

Seems OK here. Clocks in England went forward an hour yesterday, so in theory we are in British Summer Time now rather than GMT. My settings say GMT, yet time is perfectly correct to take into account the clocks going forward last night.

Maybe everyone else has been put forward an hour too?

Just a quick note - if I don't answer to all e-mails reporting the current problems, it's because I am trying to fix them. As Dmitri wrote, each site has problems, occasionally.
Good news are that the problem is not permanent and we are slowly getting it under control.

here we go again! brainking is to busy, brainking ran into technocal problems, brainking could not respond to, the WHITE page again, it seems the site battleship has been torpedoed three times and is listing, and we don't even have battleship/battleboats on this site! why are we having this trouble? does someboby have an answer PLEASE!!! i would like to play my games and relax!

Anyone else getting "The page cannot be displayed" errors? Been that way on and off here for the past few hours, whilst other sites seem to be loading without error.

Milestones. Aren't they wonderful? So it appears the site may have an estimated 2000+ active players. :--) It's a great site with good people who love to play. And it even let's you correct your typing errors in the discussion boards.

would like to thank Fencer for fixing the slow games, though i'm still experencing the problem at about 9:30am Sat. morning. keep getting "brainking is too busy to answer right now". hopefully this will clear up soon, i really enjoy this site so much more than the others, made some really good net friends here! thanks Fencer! :-}

4000+ registered players, but only about 1/2 of them are alive. one of the things I like about this site is that you can verify things. go to the "player list", sort by "last action". you have then to go beyond page 44 out of 82 to see players that did anything the past month

I agree with Dmitri, there are always comp problems that can pop up despite everything Fencer does. I find this site is fast 95% of the time and thats good enough for me. I also agree about not leaving game moves till the last minute if possible, one game within a game is plenty.

i have to agree with you dmitri. there isnt any site on the internet that dont have problems being slow once in awhile. you cant expect the site to be running perfect every single minute of every single day. i think fencer does a excellent job on this site

people, give Fencer a break! occasionally, computers do not work properly and they move slowly. If youare worried about gamed timing out, don't leave them until the last minute, because computers can lag at any time, that is justthe nature of computers.

Isn't brainking 6 months old about now?

I get them too, I think it only happens to us webtv-ers? When it happens, instead of using the "move to" buttons, I use the "go to main page" button for a while. I check the "move to" button every once in a while, and eventually they start working again.

Well for the past week, IYT has been very quick!

As long as one site is quick, I'm happy! :-)

As a side note if someone is getting close to timing out - you may want to set a vacation day in case this site stays slow so you will not time out... if you are close on time!
