Line4 belongs to very popular games because one can quickly learn its simple rules and the game offers great entertainment for a long time. The object of this game is to place four pieces in a solid row vertically, horizontally or diagonally. The game is played on a square board 8x8 squares and starts with en empty field.
How to place pieces
Both players place their pieces (one piece per move) on the board. The rule is that the piece always "falls down". It means that the piece can be placed either on the bottom row or one row over another piece in the same column. The following picture shows an example of a started game position and the green crosses mark squares where the player can place a new piece.
How to finish the game
The game ends if one of the following conditions is fulfilled:
One player places four or more pieces in a solid row vertically, horizontally or diagonally. This player wins the game.
All squares of the board are occupied and no player fulfills the previous condition to win. In this case the game ends as a draw.
