I am afraid that you are already playing another tournament.

It depends on final score of section players. If more than one player has the same points and S-B, all these players continue to the second round.
See also the bottom of FAQ page.

You can track your tournaments at Profile page.

I can start it myself, if you want to.

I've created another prize tournament.

I will have to improve the board system.
And now, please, let's discuss tournament topics only.

Hey Dano,
your last posts on this board are definitely off-topic and it's a miracle that Ed still don't use his moderator functions [ban/hide].
Provocations don't work anywhere on BrainKing and never will do. Please don't make me try the "account suspension" feature on you [someone must be the first to try it on him]. I think that we had a deal from the recent past. Take it as the last warning.

Going there :-)

bwildman: I understand your attitude. If I had a chance, I would have restored all missing games [including the ones from the mentioned tournament] and everything could continue with no problems. Unfortunatelly, it is not possible.
Aragon: Hmmm, not a bad idea. But I would like to finish some more urgent things first :-)

Subject: Re: but if I'd be forced to speculations
Dano: Please don't write about "coincidences", I'm starting to be allergic to this word. And nobody except me and Liquid is granted to upload anything to BrainKing.com site. And I'm not going to write more details about the structure and security of our servers.

12. November 2003, 22:23:45

Okay, let's finish this topic. The final result is that the 2003 Gothic Chess Championship is cancelled and there is nothing else to do with it. No further discussion can change it.

Hey guys,
what's the problem anyway? Prize tournaments are only an addition to BrainKing features and all of them are created on volunteer basis. The tournament director can define his own rules. Who does not like it, does not have to participate in the tournament.
That's the general rule. There are lots of other tournaments that had disappeared after the crash. Why don't you complain about them too?

Subject: Re: gothic world championship
Caissus: You know that it was not Ed's fault that the tournament had disappeared. It's up to him if he wants to resurrect it or not. And if he decides to start another big prize tournament, why not? It's everyone's right to create any tournament he wants. If you have better idea [and money for prizes], you can do it yourself, there are no limitations.

Subject: Re: proposal for a new form for games
What about to add a rule that each player must make a move within, say, 10 minutes after his opponent's last move?

Fencer
Subject: Real-time playing
Actually, it is very easy to add because BK code is already flexible enough to make such improvements.
Of course that it will not be released immediately after the hardware upgrade, it must be deeply tested [and discussed] first.

I think that $3000 tournament is the only one with some restrictions.

9. September 2003, 21:38:10
Fencer
Andersp: What about tournaments like "only for girls, only for boys, Europe players", should I forbid them? The membership description says that you can play as many tournaments as you want. There is nothing about "all possible tournaments, especially prize ones". I would also have to add something like "you can create your own tournaments but these tournaments must be open to everyone, you cannot add your own rules". It doesn't seem to be logical to me.
jason: Why prize tournaments should have their own page?

9. September 2003, 21:27:11
Fencer
How would you change it?

9. September 2003, 20:55:45
Fencer
Andersp: How would you cover all "cheatholes"? Please give me a 100% working solution and I will use it.

9. September 2003, 20:26:40
Fencer
Andersp: I don't think it's fair but it is not me who provides the $3000 prize, I simply cannot order Ed to change his rules. It's his money, not mine. Or what do you suggest?

9. September 2003, 20:11:30
Fencer
Andersp: There are no limits for standard tournaments. However, every tournament director can define his own additional rules. If somebody doesn't like his rules, can sign up for another tournament. As a Brain Rook you can start as many tournaments of your own choice as you want to.

rabbitoid: My BrainKing income is collected on Swreg.org which is a part of Atlantic Coast [a British company]. When I ask [usually once a month], they send me the current amount via wire transfer and don't charge any taxes. It is always a subject to tax here in Czech Republic.

On the other hand I am not sure if it is applicable for anything else than "art royalties". Maybe Ed could bring some light to this dark area :-)

rabbitoid: About SSN, I used to have this problems two years ago when MP3.com wanted to send me a check for my music because we also don't have anything like social security number. It was solved by sending a filled W-8BEN form for taxing purposes. I don't know all background of these things but what I am sure about is that I never had any more problems with that.

8. September 2003, 10:27:31

I think that a note about "any suspicious IDs will be removed from the tournament with no explanation" should be sufficient. Especially in today's situation when anybody can have any number of free e-mail addresses and can use anonymizers and proxy servers to mask his IP address.

8. September 2003, 08:52:47
Fencer
After the tournament is started, nobody can be removed. It would require deleting all generated tournament games, recreating all sections [without deleted players] and starting the tournament again.

For example, the creator can decide that each chess game must start with accepted king's gambit or the tourmament is open for hungarian residents only :-) Of course, it should be specified at the tournament description section.

Subject: General rules for all tournaments
1) The tournament creator is the tournament ruler. He/she can apply any additional rules on the particular tournament. Whoever does not like it, can easily sign up for another tournament.
2) The site owner [myself] will never solve any problems or arguments among tournament creators and their players.
