And I will only play fast tournament games from now on. Plus I will continue voice my opinion about slow players if I wish.

crosseyed: You are allowed your opinion, as others are allowed theirs.

It is permitted to take as long to move a game as the time limit allows.

What is not permitted on this site is "shaming and naming" players on public boards just because you think they "are stupid or rediculous" or taking too long to play.

There are members who don't like waiting for others to move, altho it is their priviledge to take as long as the time limit allows, and also to play as many games as they choose.

I suggest you join some of the fast players fellowships and play fast games and tournament only if slow players bother you that much. I also suggest you please read the user agreement on what is allowed to be posted on public boards.

RagingSeas: See my previous message. And then there is the one where the person is deliberately delaying things in a Tournament game. I have just found another player has 1,073 games on the go. That is so ridiculous. These people should be limited on Tournament games.

Bwild: Yes you may have 'heard' it all before. I do not feel my human rights have been violated that is carrying it a bit too far. But it is so stupid that someone has 500 games on the go and cannot find time to make moves. I really think people should be named and shamed. Then when they next take on a Tournament game hopefully the creators will not select them.

The purpose of the time limit is to allow players to actually have the choice of using that limit. If I choose to move in a game that I have 10 days left to move before I move in a game that I have 3 days to move that is my choice.

For instance, some games take longer to decide where to move. Whereas Ludo or some other games don't require too much thought and I can move pretty quickly.

Time wins are wins. If you don't like losing on time then play with longer time controls. You can't blame the other person for not moving faster if he has plenty of time on his clock.

If you do like slow games you can check out Slow Time Controls fellowship and play as many slow games as you want.

Walter Montego: AS you and a few others have pointed out, there ARE alternatives to prevent being captured by a slow player or two.
In the 3 plus years that I've been here...this is a constant complaint by a few members. It really gets old to continually hear about this...when so many measures have been taken to help the ones who feel their human rights have been violated because someone has the nerve to use their full time limit.
New rope comes to mind.

crosseyed: I'm still trying to get a feel for the Fischer Clock timed games. You have to check out the timing and bonus amounts. There are so many different ways to time a game. If the bonus is short and you and your opponent don't move fast, you can easily time out. IF the bonus is very long, then it really doesn't matter much. Same thing if the maximum is more than a couple of weeks. When the bonus is between a day or two and the maximum under 15 days, you can have the game move fairly fast and still not be pressured into moving daily. A bonus of 1 day 6 hours works good for me and will still allow slower moving players to enjoy a game without it affecting those players that like to move faster.

crosseyed: I agree that people should not hold up Tournaments, the point is are they doing it on purpose or maybe just dont have the time to make all there moves, whether they have 10, 100 or 500 games.

The problem is that if a player has his game listed in Time left order, if he moves in a 1 day game, and the opponent is online and moves, that will go back to near the top of his next game to play. Therefore all other games will just carry on waiting.

Yes, I know that now but I am fairly new to Tournament games. I still think it is stupid for someone to take on 500 games and not be able to makes moves.

crosseyed: Try Fischer Clock timed games with a bonus of 1 to 2 days. I've found these limits move along and yet also give you time off when needed. Fast players move fast and it doesn't matter. Slower players will still need to make 8 moves in 10 days with these limits over the course of the game and will also be able to miss a few days.

Someting like this:
3 to 5 day start, 7 to 15 day maximum, and bonus of 1 day 6 hours.

crosseyed: My personal view is that Pawns are the only people who should moan about 'Slow players', they do not have the option to just start another game like Members do (and yes, i know they could become Members if they wished).
I know of a tourny running for a year now that only has 12 players in 3 sections. One game is still holding one section up, then the next round will start lol (at least its a Fellowship one, and not for Pawns).
If players only want games over quick, surely the answer is simple, look at the time limit before playing the game or Tournament

It's not about opinions, it's about rules. You agree to the rules of a tournament (and the time limit is one of these rules) at the moment you sign up. Because of that it's not ok to complain about the rules later.

Anyway, you'll win the tournament some months later.. I recently won a tournament which was actually over in February. That's no problem to me.

Mr. Shumway: I certainly will not be joining anymore slow, long and drawn out tournament games.
I still think it is dumb to take on tournament games when they already have far too many games on the go and cannot keep up with making moves in games.
I am entitled to my opinion(s) and much as you are entitled to yours. I am also allowed to air my opinions too.
I understand your reaction now, I see you have 460 games started. I guess you must be one of those people that I am complaining about.

Players can move as slow as the time limit rules for the specific game allow them. DEAL WITH IT! If you can't, don't join the tournaments with slow time limits. Or simply create your own faster tournaments...

Why do some players take on too many games? I have a player who is on line at the same time as me but never makes a move in our games. When I asked why they did not make any moves I was told this very sad story. They also told me they have 500 games on the go. No wonder they are not making any moves in some games. I think tournament games should be restricted to people like that as they hold up the tournament. I see another player is also not making any moves in my games(vacation time) but are making moves in other games. This is the same tournament game. Is this bad sportsmanship on their part? Since I was doing well in the tournament I can only conclude it is bad sportsmanship.

And it IS stated somewhere: at the page of every tournament. It clearly says that you have to have "5" free slots, not "3-7, depending on the number of players signed".
