Yes, that happened to me as well for a while - a page would partly load, it would show me the beginning of the html tag and fail to load the rest of the page. Eventually i started getting "The page cannot be displayed" messages, at which point i gave up. It seems to be doing better now, however!

When Fencer bumps a defeated pawn from one tourney so they can join another, it doesn't affect their performance record in the one in which they were bumped, does it?

yes its number 3 bbw its on the agenda to be fixed

Another great read......thanks Harley & Bumble :o)

I could think of a couple of examples of how pawns can get into multiply tournaments.

1) They were a knight/rook whos membership has expired, but are still playing in other games.

2) During the "new year bug" when games were timed out, a pawn may have had their games gone, signed up for another tournament, and then got their old games back.

3) A known game bug which I have reported to Fencer at one time of how a pawn could enter multiply tournaments, which when I last checked was not "fixed" yet.

I am collating the questions today.... This is your last chance...
I have some 40 odd questions already ... some are variations on a theme and will be amalgamated.

So is what you mean is that the same pawn is through to the next round in tourny 'A' for example, and has been allowed to sign new tourny 'B' ?
It never used to be possible, as you say it may be a new bug (unless Fencer has changed pawn tourny rules).

17. January 2004, 13:35:44
Fencer
Which tournament is it?

17. January 2004, 12:48:50
Jason
no madmokey , i have seen differnt , one player is still waiting for another round to start and have just started another tourney . , im mainly letting fencer know that his programme might have a bug (ie)letting pwns sign up for more than one tournament

17. January 2004, 12:31:33
MadMonkey
It can only be done Jason if they ask Fencer to remove them from a tournament that they have already been knocked out of (e.g. There is no chance they will go any further), even if that tournament is still running.
Then they can sign for another tournament.

17. January 2004, 12:02:10
Jason
how is it that pawns can play in more than one tournament ? when they are still in other tournaments to goto another round ect ? . i have noticed this on a few occasions . if they can do this they dont have a need to upgrade

If you didn't get a blank message from me, ughaibu, I don't think they went. It would have said 'message sent' anyway, I'm sure.

It was fine. Sorry, next tiresome question: can a person send a message by subject line only or do we need something in the message box?

If you put someone on enemies that is on your friends list, they will disappear.
And if you are on their friends list, and you put them on enemies, you disappear off their friends list.

But, if someone places you on their enemies list, its possible for you to place them on your enemies list, so they cannot contact you.

16. January 2004, 17:49:04
ughaibu
Thanks. How about if they are already on the friends list? Is it impossible for them to put one on their enemy list? or can they thus remove themselves from the friends list?

16. January 2004, 17:45:29

Thats right, ughaibu.

Has the system been arranged such that if one is on a member's enemy list it is impossible to put that member on one's friends list?

AW, thanks for your comments, everyone!
Part two (of fifteen) will be published in 'Wombats Weekly' available from some good newsagents - and all bad ones.

Don't forget to get your questions for harley in to noholdsbarred as soon as possible. You owe it to her - she's had it too easy for too long. Put her on the spot - make her stew. You know she deserves it! (only joking, harleyfluff!)
Now to get my questions in. *thinks...how many 'e's in negligee?*

I just tested it - created a tournament for signups to end 6:00 on the 15th, and the page loaded and showed 22:00 on the 14th. So (considering i'm GMT -6, and i would assume Czech time is GMT +2), i assume the time entered is Czech time, and it is converted to local time of the user when the page loads.

Who was the Welsh vocalist, if you don't mind my asking? And who is your 'favorite guitarist of all time'? (You obviously avoid name-dropping, too. ;)

I'm sorry to say, you're not the world's biggest hoarder, I am. On the bright side, though, you seem like you might come in a close second. :) (Bet my key collection is bigger than yours ;) Do you happen to have an extra 1926 D28 Herringbone you could spare?

On the whole a very interesting interview with a very interesting (and secretive) person. :) Good job!

Ah that reiminds me.. couple things I wanted to bring up on tournament signup deadlines... One is I think this might, indeed, be Czech time (I have to set mine 6 hours ahead of my local time to get it right).

But.. the more annoying thing is, when you edit a tournament (say, to add something to the description), whenever you hit the edit page, the hour jumps ahead by an hour. Edit twice without adjusting it before submitting, you're ahead 2 hours; three hits, three hours; etc.

This isn't the board to argue/discuss about this. Like it or not, he's banned. That won't change by filling this board with discussions about his behaviour, past or present, especially when he can't respond.
