In this day and age one should never mail cash! Postal clerks can tell and I know for a fact there is a ton of theft from postal workers. Mail gets lost, its a fact. I dont think anyone ever suggested sending cash directly to Fencer.

You'd not mentioned previously that a statement had been made about reissuing a second cheque to you. I have no other advice to give you but hope that the payment was indeed sent to you which would restore faith in this person. My only input would be to say I can see mail getting lost once but certainly not twice.

Fastest way to cure that is have the person who said they sent you the payment call their bank and cancel the cheque. Reissue a second cheque to you send it by registered mail so that you are guaranteed to receive your money with in the week.. Easy enough to do, doesnt cost more then a few extra pennies to ensure someone is indeed getting their money back. Shows good faith in my opinion. It is how I run my business!

Subject: Not sure why so much negativity
Computers are man made.. Men arent perfect (Sorry Steve-O and Aragon but it's true, men arent perfect! :-)) Why ppl are so upset and so angry over this makes no sense. Everyones home computer has gone.. scuse the expression "tits-up" at one time or another.. Did you blame your self over that? Highly unlikely. This site is so much better run then any other turn based site right now. The feed back you get from the site owner is second to none. Crap happens

Should one of us set up a temporary fellowship for people to sign up and let Fencer know they want to donate their 3 months back? Or should it be kept private and a personal message by each individual sent to Fencer to let him know to take it back?

What I dont understand is why the site is easily accessable to some but not others. For the past 9 days I have not had one single complaint about the site. I play here alot too! I have the site open for some times up to 10 hours (I dont play 10 hours consecutively but I do have the site open that long) I havent had one down time in the last 9 days. But I read that others are having great difficulty accessing the site. Has anyone else but me noticed that site access has improved immensely or is it just me here?

Bernice. I have resigned a game many times when I knew I was going to lose. Not out of poor sportsman ship but to speed things along. Many players do that. He likly didnt mean to be rude at all. I don't see the need to complete a game especially a long game like 10x10 reversi if I know I have no chance of winning. I resign, say WTG gg or what ever and end the game to get on with other games or start new ones. I never ever thought it was considered poor sportsmanship like conduct

I have not had one problem at all today trying to access the site. I guess it must be the time you try to access it etc.. I keep the site open nearly 11 hours a day and every time I went to make a move today I had no problem. I do think there are a lot of contributing factors with regards to a lot of people not having as much access as others. Maybe ISP, time of day, Speed of server at the time, # of people already trying to access the site.

As I say for the first time in nearly 8 days today was the first day I didn't get the can't access site page.

I never could figure out how any one could make more then 200 or 300 moves a day. People must sit at their systems for 10 hours straight just clicking away.. As I say I have the site open all day an I go to it during breaks in work, afternoon breaks, lunch, after supper etc and have never exceeded 180 moves per day since I became a member. I thought I was THE true addict. How people can play more then 300+ a day is surely beyond me!

If Fencer had time I think it would be very beneficial to let us know how much has been raised and how much is still needed. Hence the meaning of the word "drive" as in to keep raising the money needed.
I can only do as the rest of you and wait to hear on Fencer on this one....

Using this link Support Brainking

You can donate any amount of money in any form of currency, any credit card, or use paypal (larger fee to use paypal then to use direct payment)

If you can only afford ONE Dollar - Half a £ - or the equivalent if your own currency,
it all will add up..and be very much appreciated and just think! How kool would it be to have a faster running site with no more down times???

Subject: Thoughts?........................
In light of many email complaints I have received today and Myself only just gaining access to the site now (12:45Pm Friday EST) after trying for 4 hours to get in, I would like to seriously suggest a drive for money to help Fencer get the new server.

Fencer this has been brought up a few times and after discussion with a few people we wonder why you made no comments to this discussion?

IF everyone on the site sent one dollar, Half a £ or something to the equivelant wouldn't that be enough to kick start the new server?

There have been many suggestions which all seem fair to help out.

Today another thought was that since the site is seemingly worse to access any time of day that we cease any new tournaments and limit all DB discussions so that would possibly free up enough room to just let people play their games.

For those that have gained access to the site today let me hear your thoughts on this and hopefully we can get Fencer to join in with this discussion and give us his thoughts on the ideas that have been bounced around.

I agree, Maybe if we did a pledge drive or something.. If we knew the amount needed to better the server, then the ones who could send extra money could do so and we could post how much has been sent, how much is needed to reach the goal.

Any one in Canada needing help on purchasing a membership let me know. I can walk you through what to do. If you dont have a credit card or debit card we can work out ways for you to send payment to or through me and I can pass the membership fee on to Fencer Through Paypal.com
As mentioned by someone else even if you have a bank card (ATM - Debit card) you can use that with Paypal.com now as well. Any questions folks gimme a holler. You can also send Money orders in (US funds)

* Note - Paypal is in US funds not Canadian funds (unless it has changed since I used it last) so don't try to work it out in Canadian currency then try to send it in Canadian. You will send more money then is necessary

Subject: Members Only Board
Fencer has added a members only board.(Add it to your favourits all you members!)
I thought it would be a great idea to have one for a few reasons.
One for members to discuss the site and add ideas and also as an incentive for non paying members who want to be included in the happenings of the site to purchase a membership to help Filip out.
I see many non members asking for features etc (all input is great) but always getting so much for free defeats his purpose of wanting to make a living off this site and make it the best site out there!
Likley there will be talk of discrimination againt no members but thats easily rectified.
Just buy a membership! :-)

The last three days have been frusterating for alot of people. I for one have gotten alot more work done the last few days as the site is harder to get in to. I dont think it matters where in the world you are or the time of day either. Saturday at 8:30 EST I wouldnt think the server would be clogged up enough to stop me from getting it but alas.. 2 hours later and I finally get in..

More memberships mean bigger, better, faster server PASS IT AROUND!!!!

On the Favourite boards list.. Is there any way it can be set up so that we can 'shuffle' them around as in put them alphabetically or favourite favs on the top of the list?
It sounds like a silly question I am sure.. it's just that my brainking.com board is at the bottom of my favourite lists but has the most interesting topics at times so since I have a huge amount of favs it is wayyy down my game sheets...

I'm not too fond the "last action" info myself. Perhaps if there was the option to turn that feature off as part of the membership package or even change it to show logged on at such an such a time/logged off site at such an such time.

And you are right.. this is an awesome site! Fencer has worked hard for us all and his efforts are clearly showing.
