But even if it is more Canadian Dollars than US dollars, aren't US dollars worth more in general, so paying $43 CAD should be the same value as $28 US - like everything will cost more CAD than US.

And bout the number of games - MiseryMidnight is getting pretty close, at 723 last night! That's by far the most i've seen of anyone!

When i bought my $28 US membership, it costed about $43 CAD. I don't remember when that was, but i guess it says on my profile :-)

I think right now it's about $0.63 US to the Canadian Dollar.

I definately don't agree with limiting rooks to number of games (especially if it's so low!). Even if it was enforced that rooks can only play 200 games, say, it would probably only affect 5 players (i know of three). So would it really be worth it to make this limit (one more restriction on the highest paying level) to reduce the number of games 5 players are playing?

I don't know if Fencer will read this, necessarily. You will be much safer to send him a personal message, as he does read those :-)

Jet Boy: There will be a relatively small "move" button, and to the right of it will be a list box with 5 selections. When you move, it will do what is selected in the list box ;-)

SushiShark: You basically have two options.
1. You can purchase a brain rook membership. You will be a rook for either that 6 or 12 months, and then the remainder of your knight membership will follow when that has expired.
2. You can ask Fencer, and he will give you a price to upgrade your memebership for the remainder of the time to rook. Only he can do this for you, and only he can give you the price

Hope that helps!

Subject: Re: a question
2 of your games were deleted with less than 4 moves (actually not a single move!) so while they count for your win/loss, they do not count for your rating.

Scooby: It is most likely due to an older version of the page cached on your system. The only way to solve that would be to delete the internet files, forcing it to download the ner version of the page.

On your main page, it calculates the time remaining using days off, vacations, site holidays, etc. So a 5 day limit will be affected by the 2 days off, making it 7.

It doesn't matter what day it is started, it just matters what day it is, and what days your opponent has chosen for days off.

Subject: Re: Tourney limits
Tournament sections will NEVER have more than 8 players, so if 12 players sign up, it will be broken into 2 sections of 6, meaning you will play 5 games. You will not be able to play one tourney of each game at once because of your 50 games at a time limit. That restriction only really applies if you want to enter another chess tournament, for example, if you're already playing in one.

If you don't like that restriction, upgrade to rook :-)

I think white still has an advantage, despite the opening move restrictions - the advantage is just greatly reduced.

Subject: Re: Game invite
no, it is displayed as
100 < BKR < 2700
or
100 <= BKR <= 2700

the 100 < BKR < 2700 can be rewritten as two restrictions
100 < BKR
and
BKR < 2700

Therefore, 100 has to be less than BKR, making the BKR above 100, and BKR has to be less than 2700, giving you a rating between 100 and 2700 :-)

If all else fails, the first number is the lower limit, the second number is the higher limit.

(by the way, to enter the "<" or ">" symbols, type "& lt ;" or "& gt ;" (without the spaces).

Unless Fencer recently changed it, you simply add new notes and cannot change existing notes for that game. I never use notes, so i am not very familiar with how it works :-)

Subject: Re: Fencer: look at my BKR / rating lists... ;-)
They are in the correct order on both lists. The 'Your best BKR' list is simply a list of all your ratings, in order from highest to lowest. The list called 'Your best rating positions' is like your position on this site. For example, you have the 47th highest rating on the site in Linetris (that's what the 47 means). That list is just the order of those numbers, from best to worst. Hope that helps! :-)

Subject: Re: New player thoughts
1) There is a setting (on your settings page - link found on left (or top, with row layout)) that allows you to put the game board at the top of the page. This could fix your first problem :-)

2) I have asked Fencer about automatic passing when there is no legal move, but he was against it - though the opponent should still be able to see the board so they do not get a board that is completely different from how they left it (when multiple passes are necessary) and so they are still able to send a message with the 'pass' move.

Welcome to a great site! :-)

Subject: Re: rating system
all unrated players do not have the same rating, when the new ratings are calculated. Even before it shows you your provisional rating, you still have one.

Subject: Re: rating system
dream: your rating is not just based on how many wins or losses you have...it's almost completely dependent on the ratings of your opponents. If you beat 4 players with very low ratings, compared with 4 players with very high ratings, your rating will be completely different :-)

I noticed that, even though it says you will have a provisional rating at 4 games and established at 25, it seems to be 5 and 26. Right now i have 4 rated games of anti checkers completed, and am still unrated. I also remember it took 26 Spider Line4 to get an established rating.

I haven't played Dark Chess on this site, but what i've found with the notes is that they appear underneath the game board, and if you type in new notes, it adds them beneath the old notes (doesn't replace)

It says at the bottom that black resigned (drgnrdr). However, if you look on either player's profile, it says drgnrdr won. It seems most likely that white resigned (although i guess i can't be sure!) :-)

http://www.brainking.com/game/ArchivedGame?g=11228

This game was just completed. It hasn't affected my rating (was a rated game), and does not even show up on either of our profiles under completed games. (even if the rating difference was enough to not move mine, it should at least show up!)
