Gardening Rule: When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.

Subject: Roses help
ok, I think I remember reading about this a couple of years ago and I'm just too dang lazy to try and look back.

My roses have the leaves getting big black splotches and turning yellow and then all falling off. At one point, one bush has NO leaves left, although they do seem to be growing back.

Any easy solutions or home remedies for them?

The FDA said late Friday that the outbreak had been linked to bagged spinach products distributed by Natural Selection Foods, based in San Juan Bautista, California. The company has agreed to recall its bagged spinach products and has stopped shipping them.

I took a peek this morning, they are looking pretty nice. Maybe 1/2 inch tall..... lets see if I can remember... blue lake beans, collards, scallions, broccoli... oh and carrots!

Now my roses are leafing out very nicely. I still haven't added anything to their soil yet.

oh they were sitting outside in a partly sunny area. They just kinda drooped a little. I forgot to check on them all today, so I'll look tomorrow and give a report.

LOL

I had to laugh today at the seedlings. What I did is took egg cartons and put them in large ziploc bags to give the greehouse effect. I took the collard seedlings out of the bag today and let them sit out.

they did not appreciate my generosity at all.

I have so many plans for the yard now that I'm working at home.

I think I'm going out this weekend to cut back the roses etc etc. Do ya'll think I should do the coffee ground thing in Dallas (zone 8) or should the soil be ok? When I met Jim 2 years ago, they were blooming like crazy! But I didn't notice a lot last year.

I think I'm also going to take a small plot and plant some veggies. I'm just dying for some collard greens!

Here's Dallas weather for you. We hit our high of 95 by 11am yesterday, but then some storms came through in the afternoon, so we hit our low of 75 at 3pm.
