I would say that before Fencer starts work on any more variations of Chess or Checkers (I guess he is anyway LOL) that it would be nice to carry on bringing NEW games to Brainking.

Ludo is on the list, and who knows what others he has in mind. To me what would be best is aiming for new games and multi-player ones.......

I thought about that Stevie, it would have to be a new window really. Top right for a Hotspot i think

Thats a great idea Stevie or at least a link on the left of the page

I did mean that sometimes you need to find posts from a particular person if complaints have been made about them.
Fair enough, if they were made just before you come online OK, but when a moderator comes on and has 200+ messages to check i think it would be handy to have.

I think i mentioned this before you released BK 2.0 Fencer, but could we have an option to search for all posts by a particular person as well as just search in posts for a certain piece of text.

BrinKing will be out of date by the time you have read through all that Fencer, you would have to create a NEW site ROFL :-D

Both Dominoes and Outbreak would also be great as multi-player games :o)

ok, another future idea then :o)

Fencer: I know this has been mentioned before, but could we have a way in which Big Boss's could send a message and also maybe send tournament invites to everyone in a fellowship (maybe tick boxes).
I know of at least 2 fellowships where they like to invite there members to a tournament, but just being able to send a message to everyone would help.
Some people just dont read the fellowship boards.

The idea for any sort of solitaire game would be to keep players within the structure of BrainKing and not to send them to Yahoo.com or Pogo.com where they may end up finding other turn based games or multi-player games that they prefer, then not bother to come back.
Personally i think a Feature that should be in development are multi-player games (Froglet is a great example of one).
The idea is to improve BrainKing, not help other sites :o)

18. Oktober 2004, 01:34:26

I know this has been mentioned before, but how about at least one single player game for those that have games running but no one moving while they are here, then players may stay logged on and play for a while, rather than trying to start more new games without people moving.
Also mentioned before was working on a multi-player game.
Neither of these seem to ever appear on the Features in development (sorted by priority) list, but would both help BrainKing get even better.

Emne: Re: New Game
I spoke to Fencer a while a go about single & multi-player games.
He has them on his list but wanted to make sure BK 2.0 was fully stable before for starting on something else major (as we all know there are still bugs about).
He did also mention the need still for a better server as there would be more players here at the same time, if they did not have a normal game to play they would be playing solitaire games.
I love the idea and think it would be an asset to the site, as the players would still be within BrainKing, which can only be a good thing.

*think someone could take 'Outbreak' off GT lol* :-)

Fencer: At present tournaments start when the day/time is reached.
Would it be possible to have them also start is the Max. number of players was reached ?

ceridwen: to be honest - so do i LOL

4. Juli 2004, 13:25:23
MadMonkey
I didn't think i was :-)
I just thought that is what they wanted, so when they got to a game they had any information about that person that they had been told before and could add to it if needed.
e.g. Name, family, occupation, hobbies etc..... (the ammount of characters could be limited of course)

Tilpasset af MadMonkey (4. Juli 2004, 13:17:35)
Just been testing that friends description box Fencer, the adding works fine.
I think (maybe wrong) that Fiona (and a few others) meant that they could also add things to that box from the game with the person they were playing at the time and see what is in there also, so it would be like an extra Note box as such.
*added*
That way the person may not be a friend as such (not of your friends list), but someone you play and have got to know, who does not use there own name as there username, so when you got to a game with them a bow would show (in green maybe) with any details you have added about the person before, rather than going over it all again.

Emne: Re: Prize tournements
The only basic Rule of Prize Tournaments that Fencer has ever stated that i know of, is that it is totaly down to the tournament organiser to provide the prize at the end of it.
Fencer accepts no responsibility for any other prizes other than tournaments he organises himself.
So in the end, it is down to trust.

I know BBW lol, i am just trying to get people to know when a new fellowship has been created as at present unless the Boss phisically does something themselves, people would never know unless invited or check the list. For those that have been members a while, they soon get to find out things like it.
I did suggest once that when someone upgraded from a pawn & became a member that they got a message (or email) listing all the extra things that are now available to them with Links how to get there etc... :o)

Agreed bumble & cariad, we all know where your coming from.

Emne: Re:
My idea was nothing to do with how many fellowship someone is Boss of sharon.
When new fellowships are created no one knows they have been unless the Boss puts it on the fellowship board or they rely on people to keep checking the fellowship list.
By just putting a number there everyone would know instantly, just like with Waiting games & Tournaments :o)

Emne: New Fellowships
I know your are busy right now Fencer, but when you have a spare moment, would it be possible to have a RED number appear beside Fellowships when someone creates a new one and Flag it somehow on the list.
Obviously the number would go once a person has gone to look what the new fellowship was and if it is worth applying to join.

harley: I already asked Fencer for News board option to stay until change (more than 14 days). He did say he would sort something out.
I have a list like that, but he has been busy :o)

Emne: Re: Autopass
This dicussion has been on the Debate Board since yesterday as it can be discussed there, even if it serves no purpose in the end, it shows how many people have opinions on it.

8. Maj 2004, 23:20:46
MadMonkey
The Main point is that Fencer does not want it, so it will not happen as he says.
It was mentioned back then that he can not please everyone, BUT if auto-passing was an option in each game he would.
By not having auto-pass as an option he is only keeping a few people happy, BUT it is his site and that his choice.
*edited*
As Fencer also said the it can be talked about elsewhere, but not here. So lets go and have a Debate :o)

8. Maj 2004, 14:56:54
MadMonkey
We have accepted it Fencer. It just shows that there are alot of people who would rather have the option (not enforcerd) avaliable here. Surely you should at least listen to the majority.
We do want the best for BrainKing.

8. Maj 2004, 14:35:59
MadMonkey
BBW: I know for sure there people who would at least like the option to have some form of it. I know it bugs me when i keep coming to games i cant move in LOL - i should be used to it by now :o)

8. Maj 2004, 14:12:25
MadMonkey
I think the way Pocket-Monkey operate is a good way.
If you play such a move the game goes to your opponent, then they have to pass BUT when they do it gives them an option to carry on passing till a move is avaliable or to have the game come back every time.
That way at least the person who is blocked has the option.

Emne: Re: A low priority request.
Stinger, it has been requested before (by me LOL). I am thinking, i guess the same as you. When people see how many move others are making, it puts it in there mind to play faster & play more game, therefore spending more time here :o)

Emne: From BK board
I would like to suggest that if someone has you on there enemy list, then they should not be able to send you insulting messages, just because they are not on your own enemy list.
If they message you and then add you to there list again, all correspondence should be deleted or hidden automatically.

17. Februar 2004, 12:36:01

Even an invitational one would still mean we would be playing players from our own team. I am sure Fencer could add a space on the Game setup page saying, Does this game have a title ?

17. Februar 2004, 12:33:08
MadMonkey
harley, i am talking about the matches between fellowships that we are playing.
As we can not use the tournament creation way on BK (as we would end playing people from our own fellowship) all games have to be set up seperatly(normally by all the players of one team) & then displayed on an external webpage.

17. Februar 2004, 12:14:22
MadMonkey
LOL - I didnt mean a link Steve, just a title, like when it says Normal Game at the moment, to go in place of that, just so we can find them easier. I know in the new version that the fellowship challenge matches are not ready yet and wont be for a while, so looks like we are going to be running challenges like this for a bit yet.
*Thinks Steve may need a larger webpage LOL*

Emne: Title for a game
Fencer: I know you are not making any changes to the current BrainKing.
When the BK 2.0 is released i dont know if the inter-fellowship challenges we be ready to be used.
If they are not could we have somewhere on the game setup page to put in a title for a game e.g. Madhouse Vs Sunshine, rather then just have Normal game show up.
You know we are setting our own challenges at the moment to get members in the mood, and it would be so much easier to keep track of these games if we could have a title to look for amongst all our games.
The one we started last night has 128 games in LOL.

Just looked at the Customer Service DB we have. Fencer has no idea what caused the problem, but will look into it. He has other things to deal with at present, remember he created & runs BK in his spare time.

5. Februar 2004, 23:19:17
MadMonkey
So thats 5.00pm here (GMT), thats odd, never notice any problems then.
They seem to start about 11.00pm GMT for some reason. I guess more people from the U.S. are trying to get on the site. The same happens about 1.00pm here as well, morning over in the states.

5. Februar 2004, 22:56:03
MadMonkey
I dont think Fencer will put it back until BK 2.0 is up released. He thinks it was one of the things causing the database server problems, and locking the site up, so he has disabled it.

1. Februar 2004, 23:46:23
MadMonkey
All you can do to see if there is anyway to help with coding is to ask Fencer.
No decision has yet been made by Fencer when to release BK 2.0.
He has to finish re-writing all the games and then a short testing will be done.

Emne: Re: Backgammon reminder
grenv: I think i am safe in saying you will have to wait for BK 2.0 to be released.
Fencer is spending all his time writing the coding for that & will not be making and changes to this version.

Emne: Re:
I did suggest to Fencer a while ago that when a new person becomes a member they automaticly recieve an email or message explaing all about how fellowships operate and also a link to the Fellowships list. They can then at least go through them and see which ones they would like to join.

Emne: Re: Teams in fellowships
I agree Steve and also you have a problem with so many fellowships (over 90 i think) that members that are in lots can only join a limited ammount of teams. It will get to a point, as i think they just found in the zoo, where you can not get enough players for the more popular games(teams).

Emne: Re: Teams in fellowships
You are correct in what you say.
At a guess i would imagine Fencer is trying to implement that at the same time as BK 2.0 starts running, but honestly do not know, it may take longer.

15. Januar 2004, 15:34:57
MadMonkey
LOL Rogue - you know what i mean (i hope).

It would save getting the same posts again & again as new people join and do not know what he has already been asked about.

15. Januar 2004, 14:02:08
MadMonkey
Fencer: Would it be possible to see a list of things on your to-do list, like you have above about the games you are working on.
We often see things posted again about things you have all ready made a note of or working on, plus if anyone has an idea they could check the list first before posting.

8. Januar 2004, 12:47:36
MadMonkey
I think Fencer has answered that then, if it can be turned on/off.

8. Januar 2004, 12:46:03

Another thought on these lines as harley says.
If it is Main board, would it be possible for Moderators to have a second Moderator (helper). There can be times often when Moderstors are not on line and Members etc.. may need a quetion answered or help.
On Fellowship boards, i guess you can have a Deputy Big Boss (which i think has been mnentioned before) to carry out such things.

Emne: Hide option
If a Moderator has put a persons messages on 'Hide' on any of the Discussion Boards, is there anyway you can stop them showing up as new messages posted Fencer(as we can't see them anyway).
I know it does not take long to look, but it can get annoying if that person keeps posting on boards and you go there to find nothing.
