Just a small little Easter request
When reading messages would it be possible to have 2 more buttons please Fencer.

Mark Unread & Next:
Archive & Next:

Would be very handy, rather than going back to the list every time we do either.

Happy Easter
(sorry no easter egg smiley lol)

I think thats called Catch 22

Saying that, check boxes would solve many similar problems (including message deleting & canceling moves)

Fencer: I don't think having the 'Move and go to' button directly above the 'Cancel this Move' button is logical at all.
Only one click on a mouse wheel and you have to replay your move.

pauloaguia: I have done that many times, but more than that is in a game after my move when scrolling down, to either write a message or submit a move.
While the page is still completing to load i often click away, then as the page finished loading and the page jumps, it ends up selecting, either 'switch to rich text editor' or rather than submit it clicks on 'Cancel Move' most annoying
I asked Fencer if at least the 'Switch to rich text editor' could be moved to the right hand side. He said no as it was my fault it happened, so i guess he will tell you the same

Fencer, Could we have a 'Move and goto Next Pawn Game' option please.

I dont mind playing Pawns (old & new), but they tend to make games 3 or 7 days, which get lost in among my games where most are 2 days. Would be nice if once every couple of hours i could play any Pawn games waiting, so they dont get bored

Emne: Re:
grenv: 100% agree with that 12 hour Fischer game suggestion, but even having them in any colour would not prevent it being done unless you monitor every fisher game and make sure you are back on before the shortest time in one. In other words, if you have a lot of them you may as well stay here 24/7. In fact i think there should be some sort of built in safe guard, just can not think of a sensible one
I have lost track of how many of those games i have timed out of BECAUSE of that.
You go to bed thinking you have no moves for at least 12 hours (for example) only to come back hours later to find your opponent in a fisher clock game moved and you timed out.
Hence i dont sign up for any now if i can help it, which is a shame as i enjoy them.

Emne: Message Box
Fencer, how about modifying the Message box so its the same design as the Notepad.
In other words make Archive & Outbox Tabs and the option to create other Tabs possible. That would be great and very handy for keeping certain messages where we need to get to them (e.g. Fellowship ones, Tournament ones etc...).
Having an edit button could also be useful as i am sure we have all sent messages (with Links) only to find out they dont work, having the option just to go back and edit them correctly and resend would be nice.

Tilpasset af MadMonkey (11. Marts 2007, 12:39:41)
Could we have a page somewhere in a Fellowship that displays all Team results (the same as we have in our profiles for finished games).
It would be handy to see all Teams for a Fellowship on one page with all relevant information Game type, win, draw , losses, BKR, rating etc...

Emne: Re: Cheversi
joshi tm: I think it would be much more fun and a better game with a dice, just like Dice Chess, there would be no advantage as such.
Black could be left with Queen, King or knight etc as a last move, not really giving them an advantage. At least it should create closer games.

Emne: Cheversi
I think Cheversi is a great game. Its quick and the rules are simple, but the advantage is still with black, though not as much as it was.
Could we have a dice version, where the dice would denote what piece a player would have to place on the board.
It would open it up a bit to both players

27. Februar 2007, 21:43:16

Fencer, would it be possible to have a setting to swap the columns of options over to the other side.
In other words the column that is now on the left, with Main page, New game, Waiting games etc.... to put it on the right, and Friends, Discussion Boards and Fellowship boards on the left.
While you are playing your games the left hand column is always there (for what reason ??), yet virtually nothing in that column is important in your gaming as such (maybe messages).
I think more people would prefer to see there friends online and any posts that have been made on boards rather than a list of options that are not really relevant.
I hope you understand what i mean, even if you do not think its a good idea, it certainly makes more sense

Either that or have the hover work on those links so they could be seen easily rather than having to open each one all the time.

mctrivia Being able to specify all different thing would take alot of sorting out i would think, and i do agree with them.
To start with i think a simple box beside our names in any Team we are in that we can toggle available / not available, just so the Captain or Boss knows.

So am i right in thinking that the running ones are in the order they have started as well ? That would be great

Is there any room to squeeze the final scorer on the result line do you think, maybe where the 'Time Control' is just to save having to go there ?

Fellowships Team matches (not Tournaments)
Please Fencer

Could the finished Team matches be put in the order they finish please.
I try to keep the Madhouse up to date with any matches won/lost, but as the Big Bosses dont get informed of results, only the Captains its hard trying to keep up, when they are in no real order (well i guess they ??? lol). Date Finished would be ideal, then we would only have to check the last one to make sure we know how we are doing.

On that page i think we really only need:

Name Opponent Type Creator Result

Once they are finished

Emne: Re: Cheversi imbalance and new games in general
dresali: As you just beat me i agree

But in all seriousness, its true in what you say. Once a player has got semi-used to playing it, the worst Black should ever do is ret a draw, but a win should be the outcome, no matter how good a player White is.

Like you i think the game is great, but as in other games here on Brainking they can be modified.

Apart from the ideas you have mentioned, how about a Dark version, where all opponents pieces, squares and score are blocked to the opponent. In other words no player would no how the other is doing OR what pieces they have used just what squares have a piece placed on it.

Emne: Team Tournaments
Just a simple request Fencer, that i found a bit of a pain when sorting Teams out.
We have dots telling us if we are in a Team entered or not in a Team.
Could the Bosses have another colour dot so we know which Tournaments we already have Teams for. Once the first few Teams are entered and people join various Teams, and with different Captains, its very easy to lose track where the Fellowship has got to entering what Team Tournaments when there are so many.
Maybe a blue dot on the Team Tournament page to just denote, Fellowship has a Team entered in that Tournament.

Emne: Knights & Bishops
Fencer: Could we please have some way to easily see if and which Tournaments a Knight/Bishop is in. It is a nightmare when signing a Team up with Knights/Bishops in, and it tell you you dont have enough players. Then you have to go through every Team a Knight/Bishop is in to find out if it is them that is preventing it.
Either one of 2 ways i have thought of:
1) On there Profile(Fellowship page) beside there list of Teams, a dot to say they are either signed for or in a running Tournament.
OR
2) A dot(or brief message) beside there name when trying to sign the Team up for a Tournament, letting us know what they are signed for OR already playing in.
This is a major headache for Bosses & Captains

Could you move the link to 'Switch to RTE' or 'Switch to plain text' to the right hand side of the page please. When the site(or connection) goes a bit slow and you scroll down happily clicking for the Text box to type in, you tend to hit that link, then have to wait for the page to reload again. Doesnt work with Elimination Tournaments though.

Emne: New Year list lol
I think its great we can now see how we are doing in a Tournament from within a game itself, just by hovering over the Tournament name.
Could you expand on this Fencer please. So we can use the same idea on the Fellowship page or any Tournament links we have.

Also, how about from within a game you could hover over game rules at the top and get a shortened page of Rules for a game. Most games are only a variation of another so would only need short amount of space.

oh, and while im here, could we have a better way to sort Team Matches out in a Fellowship, by date started, game etc...

Happy New year

p.s. Any more thoughts on Team stairs ?

What you meant to do if you know you only have a couple of hours left in a game, yet you cant move until your opponent sends it back to you.
So if they are clever and notice this, they wait till you go off line and send it back then, you time out
Something should be done really.

Now if you can solve my main gripe it would be nice LOL
Why can't we know how much time WE have left in Fischers clocks games when the game is with an opponent, without having to look at each game ?
I am getting really fed up with games timing out, it must be quite easy to show on the main page.

Emne: Re:
ScarletRose: I dont if this would be easier, but i create alot id ID Links to peoples profiles when they win a Tournament. The problem is you have to go to the profile to find there ID, cant it be displayed with there other info like when you hover over there piece beside there name (Knight, Rook etcc..), at the moment that shows, name, country, membership rank, and gender, why not ID number as well.

When you have a moment Fencer, could you add a little more info to the Fellowship page where the Team matches are displayed. It would be nice to see the result of the match without having to look at each one for a start.
It would also be VERY helpful if the Big Bosses of a Fellowship gets a message when any match finish so they can post it on the Fellowship DB and keep everyone informed of how the Teams are doing.
It would be nice if Brainking itself could display the results somewhere (Running: 55 Finished: 7 Won: 3 Draw: 0 Lost: 4), it does get hard sometime trying to keep up with alot of matches, makes it harder when we dont know if they have finished

Mr. Shumway: Very true, so how about having a box that we could set the URL of, like in the context menus OR even linked to the context menu.

Emne: Fisher clock games
I am sure this has been requested before, but i will ask for it again as it just cost me alot of BKR and my No.1 spot.
Can we have an extra column to show how much time is left in Fischer clock games for us. Its a bit wrong when you leave here thinking your next move isnt for over a day in any game, to log in to find games timed out because you didnt know how much time was left.

I guess we could always go through every game before we log off just to check, bit time consuming i think.
