Have you noticed anything fishy about the inspection teams who have arrived in Iraq? They're all men!* How in the name of the United Nations does anyone expect men to find Saddam's stash? We all know that men have a blind spot when it comes to finding things. For cryin' out loud! Men can't find the dirty clothes hamper. Men can't find the jar of jelly until it falls out of the cupboard and splatters on the floor.... and these are the people we have sent into Iraq to search for hidden weapons of mass destruction?
* I keep wondering why groups of mothers weren't sent in. Mothers can sniff out secrets quicker than a drug dog can find a gram of dope. Mothers can find gin bottles that dads have stashed in the attic beneath the rafters.* They can sniff out a diary two rooms and one floor away. They can tell when the lid of a cookie jar has been disturbed and notice when a quarter inch slice has been shaved off a chocolate cake.* A mother*can smell alcohol on your breath before you get your key in the front door and can smell cigarette smoke from a block away. By examining laundry, a mother knows more about their kids than Sherlock Holmes.** And if a mother wants an answer to question, she can read an offenders eyes quicker than a homicide detective.
* So... considering the value a mother could bring to an inspection team, why are we sending a bunch of old men who will rely on electronic equipment to scout out hidden threats?* My mother would walk in with a wooden soup spoon in one hand, grab Saddam by the ear, give it a good twist and snap, "Young man, do you* have any weapons of mass destruction?" And God help him if he tried to lie to her. She'd march him down the street to some secret bunker and shove his nose into a nuclear bomb and say, "Uh, huh, and what do you call this, mister?" Whap!* Thump! Whap! Whap! Whap! And she'd lay some stripes across his bare bottom with that soup spoon, then march him home in front of the whole of Baghdad.* He'd not only come clean and apologize for lying about it, he'd cut every lawn in Baghdad for free for the whole summer.
* Inspectors my eye... You want the job done? Call my mother.

After giving it some thought, my mother would probably say he is just going thru a faze, he will get over it....lolol

Tournament sections will NEVER have more than 8 players, so if 12 players sign up, it will be broken into 2 sections of 6, meaning you will play 5 games. You will not be able to play one tourney of each game at once because of your 50 games at a time limit. That restriction only really applies if you want to enter another chess tournament, for example, if you're already playing in one.

If you don't like that restriction, upgrade to rook :-)

Could someone clarify this please: for a knight, it says that you can enter 1 tournament for each game. It also says to leave at least 5 open spaces for each tournament. So, if I'm playing 35 regular games I could only sign up for 3 tourneys, right? And if one of them has 12 players, I would not be able to participate? In other words, I can not enter one of each tourney unless I have an empty game board?

E.g. Honey Checkers are played on a hexagonal board. Will be implemented later :-)

I do not know what IYT has done, but there site is in a real mess....you cant even get to your games, and it take forever to load...bad luck....more better here :)

I know it is not a hexagon, although i expect a hexagonal version probably exists, but what about something like Stratego ... tank battles with more ranks. Mind you, I still haven't played all the games here yet ... once I lose a few Tank Battles I will move onto Tablut so watch out for the bunny coming your way soon.

Are you on the digital service which has had the CR3 update.?
I signed up just over a month ago while i was still using NTL. Maybe the problem is an incompatability between the CR2 browser & Swreg sites.!!!-

Hello Fencer. I can get to the swreg page that asks 'which currency' but when I press the select button it starts to load but after about 4 seconds an NTL fault page appears. This says 'we are unable to display your request'. This page is very well known to NTL users!

If I can't join this way can I transfer the money from my bank account to yours? I also have a visa card but do not have a pay pal account.

I've already heard about this problem from another NTL user. The page you cannot access belongs to Swreg.org site, not to BrainKing.com, so I can do nothing with it. What error does it show to you?

I want to become a member but I can't get past the 'currency' page to join.
I use NTL. Is anyone else having this problem and any suggestions?

When someone pays for a membership, you can put another users name (for example: BIG BAD WOLF) and I will get brains when you pay.

And when you go get friends to pay, they can put your name down and you will get brains!

I won the first match in a regular way. I started the next game, and he ran out of time without making a move. Third one the same. Finally went on to the fourth one... same situation. How does this effect BKR? And is this counted as a won game?

Unless their rating went over the 1500 just after they took the game I cant see how it hapened.

Thanks harley but i did that, it was set for 100=1500 and someone with a rating of 1577 took the game.

The number on the left is the lowest, the right one would be the highest.
So you would set it for 1200 = 1600.

Does anyone know how to use the BKR ratings options when posting a game?
For example, if I want to post a game for someone to take who has a similar rating to my own, what do i select?

in go-moku, there are no captures, so running out of room might be more of a problem. I wouldn't know because I do not play the game, because I find it to be a poitnless and tedious game. In pente, with 5 captures ending the game, running of room is very unlikely. Is it more likely if the starting piece is not in the center? Sure, but it would be a concern for both sides, so I don't think it is a factor even then.

Dmitri: Yes, of course you are right. On a 19x19 board it is VERY unlikely to run out of room.
But still, if it ever happened it would be more likely to happen when not starting in the center. Don`t you agree?
I know this to be the case in pro gomoku (even on a 19x19 board) and cannot see why the same thing wouldn`t apply to pente as well.
I understand there is no sure win for first player in (pro) pente, which would abolish the potential need for more than a certain amount of room?

sundance, this is not exactly true. THe center is not necessarily the best move. I could make my first move 1 away from the center, and I am still in the same position as I was before (the game RARELY goes to the edge of the board). But, it woudl be very confusing to explain the second move restriction and diagram it without having the first move be in the center. I would say the first move restriction neither helps nor hurts either player, it is hte second move restriction that is key. And to answer what Kevin and cleverhunk said, YEs, white still has a significant advantage, top players almost never lose as player 1; but that also makes it a great challenge to come up with clever defenses against the white attack.

is the center the best move?that was my 1st thought.but I remind myself.it matters not where you put your 1st piece.what matters is where you put your 2,3,4th pieces in relation to it.

Actually, the rule that white`s first move must be in the center makes white`s advantage bigger.
This is because without this rule some people would (for some strange reason) NOT start in the center, which is naturally the best place. So now they are forced to make the best move :).

Of course it is the 2nd move restriction which evens up the game.

I think white still has an advantage, despite the opening move restrictions - the advantage is just greatly reduced.

starting on the centre square...removing the white advantage,I can see the point...it's only fair to start the game with no one having an advantage.
