Socrates: I was in Philly the other year and offered tp play Ed while I was there, he was reluctant, so it never came off.

I read in earlier posts from last year about Ed Trice. He said Alex Moiseyev went to his house and they played some checkers. This is true. It sounds to me that Ed Trice is thought of as a Master player. That's ironic because, when I talked to Alex Moiseyev recently, he told me that Ed Trice was no better than "an advanced novice". He also had no doubt in his mind that Ed Trice used WCC in his online games at various websites - most frequently, zone.com, from 1997-2001. I guess this solves any argument of this kind from the past.

Andre Faria: The mentioned name was deleted along with the poster. "Cheating", programs, KM etc is not checkers. It's flaming and there is zero tolerance for it. This is not something we are going to take up space debating...people come here to read about checkers. Nuff said.

Purple: If those stories are true, it will be a plaisure to be banned... I don't want to belong to something like it...

I want to know if some "stories" I've been heard are true or false. It looks like they are true!

Socrates: Huh... It's amazing how many retail board game companies sell checkers sets that aren't regulation. You'd think they'd want to be authentic. Oh well, such is life. :-)

John Baker: If one side has Red and the other has Black then it's not regulation! Pogo.com checkers has these colors and has Red moving first, Black moving second. BK uses Black and White so Black moves first in Checkers here in BK. You can go to checkers settings and make this possible.

Socrates: Given red and black pieces, which moves first?

OK...let me straighten this out.

All Draughts variants except for English Checkers: White moves first. Black/Red moves first in English Checkers, then white moves.

Black/Red moves first in Anti-Checkers too.

Italian Checkers, Czech Checkers, Spanish Checkers, 10x10 checkers, Brazilian, White moves first.

Everything is the opposite of what it is.

The answer to that question its of course White!

Fencer: If you start with standard chess colors, then white moves first. But in most checkers literature, the first side is called Black or (officially) Red.
